Subject: RE: Lyr Req: hound dogs never die...help From: Jim Dixon Date: 23 Feb 03 - 09:47 PM I found a sound sample at Tricopolis Records from which I transcribed these incomplete lyrics:
I knew what he was feeling in his heart. From the questions that he asked me then, I knew that he was wonderin' If the time would come when we would be apart. And I said, "Son, don't ever worry. God willing, we've got time To share the years as they go rolling by; But if the night should ever fall that I don't answer to your call, Remember, hound dogs never die. "Son, the ones you love really never go away If you'll only keep their memories alive, Listen to the wind. You'll hear me howl again, 'Cause hound dogs never die." |

Subject: Lyr Add: HOUND DOGS NEVER DIE (John Hadley) From: GUEST Date: 05 Dec 10 - 05:29 PM My son was four years old when he found that lonesome hound, Out along a dusty Oklahoma road. They grew up running through the pines, That hound dog and that boy of mine. When he was 13 she was growing old. One night he came to me tears were in his eyes. She did not answer when he called her name. We found her underneath the pines Where she laid down alone to die. We buried her that evening in the rain. "Son, the ones you love really never go away If you'll only keep their memories alive. Listen to the wind. You'll hear her howl again, 'Cause hound dogs never die." That night beside his bed I held him in my arms. You'll hear me howl again, 'Cause hound dogs never die."
