Subject: RE: SF Bay Area Fiddlers Club From: Barry Finn Date: 14 Jul 98 - 07:02 PM Try a bar called the Starry Plough in Berkley, not to confused with the Star & Plough in the city, they both have sessions, have no idea what nights. These I would say wouldn't be for beginners but they'd be a good resource. Barry |
Subject: RE: SF Bay Area Fiddlers Club From: O'Boyle Date: 14 Jul 98 - 08:14 PM I once sat in at session at the plough and the stars in the richmond district. I haven't been up there in over a year, though. Slainte Rick |
Subject: RE: SF Bay Area Fiddlers Club From: Barbara Date: 15 Jul 98 - 05:03 PM The SFFMC maintains a webpage and mailing list. Eric Hoffman has been running slow jams at his home and posts them to that list. His e-mail is ErikThor@aol.com. Kapish 'slow jam'? It is a gathering where tunes are requested and then played slooooww so you can learn them and is usually attended by a number of different instruments, including your namesake and fiddles. There is also EB pickin and singin still, I think. At any rate, posting to that list ought to find you what you want. To sub to that list, e to "harmony-request@idiom.com" and say 'subscribe' in the body of the copy or "http://www.idiom.com/harmony" for the webpage Blessings, Barbara |
