I am sure thare are lots of british folkies from places other than around St Albans who would have put in a nominations for various catagories especially those of clubs and festivals. It seems a little odd to have just one catagory to cover all folk fectival from the big commercial ones such as Broadstairs to the small folk weekends such as Crediton, Miskin, or Grove, none of which had a mention. Having only just opened this thread I find I have missed the deadline. I would have placed Andy Barnes in the best drinker catagory for his ability to completely miss a camping stool by a couple of foot when trying to sit down, not spill a drop when "landing" on the floor, then carrying on drinking and singing as if that was where he intended to be all the time. And where's the catagory for folk poet? |

No venue, club or festival has to my knowledge come near to presenting a fraction of what I have heard there. |

There are so many contenders for the other honours. John Kirkpatrick, Pete Coe & Pete Morton is a jolly good chap don't you know. To misquote the Radio 2 site. March 2003 sees the first year of the Mudcat 2003 Alternative British Folk Awards. Not a prestigious event, but one which celebrates the past year in the world of cyber-assisted folk music. A completely undemocratic and non-representational group of Mudcat members will shortly be voting to pick a winner in each of the categories below.
Nominations are welcomed under each of the following categories (if I've missed any, or you'd like to see non-music items - "best dance group", "best folk drama group" or whatever, please let me know) by next Friday (21st February). Please try to be adventurous!
