Subject: BS: Mute US Senate From: TIA Date: 18 Feb 03 - 06:54 PM I know, it is thoroughly obnoxious to cut and paste. As my own punishment, I'm banishing myself from posting for two weeks (yeah, yeah, no big loss). But this is so much what I'm thinking that I can't stop myself, and I won't need to post, 'cause this says it all. US Senator Robert Byrd - Senate Floor Speech We Stand Passively Mute Wednesday 12 February 2003 "To contemplate war is to think about the most horrible of human experiences. On this February day, as this nation stands at the brink of battle, every American on some level must be contemplating the horrors of war. Lengthy cut-and-paste non-music article deleted. Now, TIA, maybe you can learn how to do clickable links in your two-week self-exile. Maybe you could even read the FAQ and learn our policy on cut-and-paste non-music posts. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mute US Senate From: Bobert Date: 18 Feb 03 - 07:20 PM Hey, I know some drum-beater will come along and point out the fact that my Senator, Robert Byrd, was once a member of the KKK and that is their right. But Senator Bryd has grown from those days and learned from them and is now one f the most honest Senators remaining in that body. I'm proud of him for his stand and for his resistence of the Resolution. Yep, he's got this Greenie's vote. Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: Mute US Senate From: catspaw49 Date: 18 Feb 03 - 08:00 PM TIA....I forgive you whatever ta' hell other transgressions you think you have.......good post. Like Bobertz, I know we'll get the crap about about Byrd, but in the above, truer words were never spoken. He about sums it up in many ways for me too......Thanks. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Mute US Senate From: NicoleC Date: 18 Feb 03 - 08:07 PM I read Byrd's speech a couple of days ago and I was just thrilled to read it again. Too bad all politicians (of any persuation) can't state their views so clearly and eloquently. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mute US Senate From: GUEST,jaze Date: 18 Feb 03 - 08:23 PM Thanks for that post,TIA. I take my hat off to Sen.Byrd! Thank God there is at least one voice of reason and common sense in our gov't. He so succinctly put into words many of the things I've felt about this impending disaster. And we're bribing the Turkish Gov't with 8 Billion dollars to use their country. How sad that I have to say I'm ashamed of my country. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mute US Senate From: artbrooks Date: 19 Feb 03 - 03:18 PM Unfortunately, Sen. Byrd's name is most often written with a (D) after it. That means that Mr. Bush will pay about as much attention to what the Senator has to say as he has/will to the hundreds of thousands of demonstrators I read about on CNN, or to Bobert, or to me. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mute US Senate From: DougR Date: 19 Feb 03 - 03:27 PM I beg to differ, Art. I'm confident GWB monitors everything Bobert says on the Mudcat. Not so sure about you though. :>) DougR |

Subject: RE: BS: Mute US Senate From: GUEST,Q Date: 19 Feb 03 - 04:03 PM Byrd used to play a mean fiddle. Can't be all bad. Seriously, an excellent speech. It deserves wide circulation. |
