Subject: BS: Politicos Disarming Not From: GUEST,sorefingers Date: 21 Feb 03 - 10:42 AM As I play and sing some of the antiwar folksongs we - used - think are important, seriously I wonder if anybody cares. Not only should Iraq disarm, they all of them need to do it, all the Nukes need to be destroyed, all the Powerplants shut down and the remains destroyed - send the planet killing poison in a rocket as far as it will go out into space where it cannot harm us. The USA, Russia, China, UK, France, India, Pakistan, Israel and the rest, S A for example, are as guilty as Iraq. There is not, so far as we know, another planet where we can all run off to while this one waits for the 20 thousand years of decaying nuked atomosphere to clean itself up, and we need not talk about how we would get there, because that is not possible at this time. Did I mention that a SUV consumes 620 cubic yrads of air in 30 minutes? Did you know that if China and India were to have as many cars and trucks as the USA, we would have to, A provide the oxygen to FUEL our cars, and B live in greenhouses. Did you know that in that climate, our ecosystem would be destroyed in a decade? What really sickens me, not just here but every other public debate, is the number of G W praisers whos very first comment is about how they do not support so-an-so bla blab bla. Then learning they are working for the Government, and have lately acquired a Guitar, hence can't play shit on it, makes me even madder. Guys, you stand out like a shaved head in a hippie colony, quit trying to be folkies - you have too much money and the fancy living makes you soft and obvious. If the USA is even one hundreth of one percent what it claims, then we the people can and should do something about this disaster. Whatever we do, we MUST NOT ever again elect rightwing nobrain who's only source of reason is some out of date religious manual written by a lunatic too long in the desert sun, and madder than a manged dog! Now let the crap fall where it will |

Subject: RE: BS: Politicos Disarming Not From: Ebbie Date: 22 Feb 03 - 02:20 AM Tonight's Bill Moyers 'NOW' show had two journalists who wrote a book called 'Our Media, Not Theirs'. Its premise is that the media, the art and necessity of information gathering and transmitting, have always belonged to the people, not to the powers, but that has changed and is reflected in the laws and regulations. For instance, by FCC regulation no one company could own more than 8 radio outlets in a large community, and the numbers went down from there. Therefore there were many different viewpoints and competing philosophies. Now, with regulations either nonexistent or so lax they may as well be, a single owner may own as many as 1200(!)stations. The same thing is true of newspapers. Fewer and fewer people own more and more of the things that inform us. Next week the subject explored will be Civil Liberties, under the new regimen. |
