Lyrics below transcribed from the sheet music at The Library of Congress American Memory Collection.

You can hear a 1920 recording of this song at The Virtual Gramophone.

BY THE WATERS OF MINNETONKA: INDIAN LOVE SONG.
Words, J. M. Cavanass. Music, Thurlow Lieurance. Copyright 1914.

Moon Deer,
How near
Your soul divine!
Sun Deer,
No fear
In heart of mine.

Skies blue
O'er you
Look down in love.
Waves bright
Give light
As on they move.

Hear thou
My vow
To live to die,
Moon Deer,
Thee near,
Beneath this sky.

[By the way, Lake Minnetonka is a large irregularly shaped lake with lots of bays, just west of Minneapolis, now enveloped by suburbs.]

Drop me a line on e-mail and I'll send you what I have. I found a choral version that includes all the lyrics, SAT and a violin obligato.

mafreeh@cedarcrest.edu this sounds like the song I am looking for. Thank you. If you can find the rest of the sheet music or let me know where I could find it. It would be greatly appreciated.

By the waters of Minnetonka: An Indian love Song

I've located the sheet music for a song with this title.
The lyricist is J.M. Cavanass and Thurlow Lieurance is the composer.
The Copyright is 1914.

Lyrics are:

Moon Deer how near
Your soul divine
Sun Deer no fear
In heart of mine
Skies blue o'er you
Look down in love;
Waves bright give light
As they move
Hear thou.....

argh last page missing. If this is the right direction I'll put in some time looking for the last page.

Parts 1 & 2 of By The Waters of the Minnetonka was recorded by Glenn Miller on 9/27/38 on the Bluebird label.

Reissued: 1975/RCA/AXM2-5512

Maybe there's some Glenn Miller fans reading the mail.
