I'm truly saddened and forlorn that Owen has died. A gentle man and a gentleman, talented but not believing enough in his fine talent. We are the better for knowing him, and the poorer for his death.

One of the last 'real' whalermen. I've had great pleasure singing 'My Donel' over the years so am saddened by this news.

Sad news, I loved his singing. I have a very early vinyl "I once loved a lass" with some fine tunes on it.

I always loved the idea of Owen Hand. He gets a number of mentions in the Bert Jansch "Dazzling Stranger" biography
