Subject: BS: New Weapons:'Daisy Cutter' Bomb for Iraq From: GUEST Date: 26 Feb 03 - 07:26 AM Watching ABC News last night, I saw this news: http://abcnews.go.com/sections/wnt/World/newbomb030225.html on a new massive ordnance air bomb (or a MOAB) to be used experimentally in Iraq in the first days of the bombing campaign. It is being touted as a "bigger, better" bomb than the "Daisy Cutter" the 15,000 lb bomb used in Vietnam, Gulf War I, and Afghanistan. It is a 21,000 lb bomb, and apparently is the equivalent of a small nuclear weapon in terms of physical destruction. Using the military's usual twisted, sick logic, the report ends with this gem: "But one important aspect of using this type of weapon, sources say, will be psychological impact on enemy troops. It is intended to terrorize Iraqi troops, drastically reducing their desire to continue the fight." So, the fear of being killed by one big bomb, rather than carpet bombing, is supposed to change the enemy's behavior? I guess that is why they say it is "experimental". |
