The light-hearted musical style makes the 'medicine' a bit easier to swallow anyway. I like it!

Not to be confused with the old (pre-Civil War) Negro spiritual, "Jacob's Ladder" (See Cleveland Index) in Allen (Slave Songs, 1867), Dett, Fenner, Johnson and others. Versions bowdlerized by Seegar are in the DT.
