Subject: RE: Seeking Folk Harp Teacher - Westchester From: Helen Date: 11 Mar 03 - 10:42 PM Hi again, I have the names of three harp teachers for you. The two replies I have had so far are from Harplisters called Melinda and Peter. Melinda said: Try Mona Peck [Melinda gave me her e-mail address, but I don't want to post that in a public forum, and I don't know where exactly she teaches]. And Peter said: I don't know of any teachers precisely IN Westchester Cty., but there are two in not-too-distant New Jersey. The nearest is Deirdre Danaher Keating, who lives in Hillsdale, probably 15-20 minutes from the Tappan Zee Bridge. [....Peter gave me her telephone number....] I'm not sure if she's actively teaching at the moment, though. The other is Aideen O'Donnell, who lives in Chatham, somewhat farther south. I don't have a telephone number for her, but her [e-mail address deleted] & Website is http://www.aideenodonnell.com/ If you want to find out the phone numbers and e-mail addresses we will need to work out a way to e-mail each other, or you could join Mudcat as a member and one of the benefits is that you can send personal messages (PM's) to other members, so then I could PM you privately with the details. I hope this helps. Helen |
Subject: RE: Seeking Folk Harp Teacher - Westchester From: Helen Date: 11 Mar 03 - 04:07 AM Hi NancAurelia, I've just posted your request, without your details, to the e-mail Harplist. I am sure that someone on the list will be able to help you. I'll post any replies here. The Harplist is a valuable resource with lots of kind and helpful folks, so you might want to consider joining the list. If so, Click here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/harplist/join There have been a number of threads here at Mudcat about harps, so you can do a search in the Lyrics and Forum Search box. Just type in harp to the box, and search the Forum only. Remember, though, that this is a folk and blues site, so some of the threads will be about blues harps and not harps with strings. Helen (who has a folk harp, and lives in Australia) |
Subject: RE: Seeking Folk Harp Teacher - Westchester From: Margaret V Date: 10 Mar 03 - 10:17 PM Have you tried Margaret Sanzo in Tarrytown? She's really nice though quite busy. I think she's in the phone book but let me know if you have trouble locating her. Also, there is a Hudson Valley Harp Guild that meets about once a month; I don't have contact info at my fingertips but could probably ferret it out within a week or two if you like. Margaret |
