I shared a few stages with MF years ago, and I thought they were good fun. Saw Jian in Toronto two years ago and it was nice to see him. He did seem a bit showbiz but i never thought he was a tosser, but then I never went to University with him...xec

I actually don't mind MF's music. It's definitely fun.

But, I think this BS thread was originally started in response to Jian's NEW career as a television host (or presenter as the Brits say). His personality does tend to rub people the wrong way, both on-screen and off. He comes across as a self-absorbed hipster/wanker.

And he can't seem to interview another musician without referring to his own previous recording career. I watched his atrocious show "Play" awhile back to see the Be Good Tanyas, and it was the worst (and shortest, and badly edited) "interview" I'd ever seen.

As one of the local entertainment papers said about Moxy Frouvous back in the day, "You either like them, or you went to university with them."

Is Moxy Frouvous still in existence? I haven't heard anything about them in a couple of years. They really were/are a fantastic group. Very high energy and fun songs. I hope they make a comeback.

I really liked Moxy Frouvous I saw them a 2 or 3 times when they were over here in England. I was doing a student radio show and they gave me one of there CD's for free to play on it. Why is there a problem with Jian and is this a BS thread or one about Moxy Frouvous sort of?

When I was in grad school, he was the undergraduate student council president, hawking his Moxy Fruvous cassettes in the hallways. He was a total idiot then, and he doesn't seem to have improved much since, judging by the brief bits I've seen of his TV shows.

I was in workshop with Moxy Fruvous at Falcon Ridge a few years back. Let me tell you, Jian Ghomeshi is about the most full of himself guy I've ever worked with.

Hey, he's a Canadian celebrity (or at least what passes for one here). They all irritating, especially the ones from "The Big Smoke". If he can keep it up and become a major arsehole, he can get himself a regular talk show gig like Mike Bullard.

I'm with you on that observation. I think its just more of that Queen Street West self-important, self congratulatory, self-absorbed, artsy-fartsy, used to be a never was has been. Its a Toronto thing.
