Anyone know the lyrics to this song?

Old Maloney was a croaking and with water nearly choking...the water knocked him down and Maloney nearly drown on the night Maloney landed in New York.

I failed to find anything with Google, using various phrases that you supplied, and trying the alternative spellings Moloney and Mahoney. Anybody have any more ideas? Or any more words?

I have been trying to get these lyrics for over 10 years.
The title is The Night Maloney landed in New York. It was/is an Irish American ballard that is often mentioned in the Scottish broard sheet music of the late 1800,s.

Google Books says "The Night Maloney landed in New York" was written by American songwriter Joseph Flynn in the 1890s. Flynn often collaborated with Frank B. Sheridan.

Here are the lyrics as I know them from my father:

Now, mike Maloney landed here from the Emerald Isle so dear,
On a Saturday afternoon so bright and fine.
After gazing all about he watched some men put up a house,
For he had never seen the mention of its kind.

Now a box of burning lime stood near Maloney all the time,
But he didn't seem to notice it at all,
And he ran to catch a car but hadn't ventured very far
When into the burning lime he did a funny fall.

Now Maloney he was soaking; he came very nearly croaking,
For a bath like that he never took in Cork,
For the lime was burning red and it burned the hair all off his head,
On the night Maloney landed in New York.

So he strode away, when he heard somebody say
That a house was on fire very near,
So he limped up to the scene, and as he was very green,
Sure everything seemed to him so mighty queer.

And he saw down at his toes, the farmer's rubber hose
And he picked it up to see about its use;
And he stuck his stubby nose down in the nozzle of the hose,
Just as the water was to be turned loose.

Oh, Maloney he was soaking; he came very nearly croaking,
For a bath like that he never took in Cork,
For one squirt knocked him down, and he was nearly drowned
On the night Maloney landed in New York.

Now Maloney took off his clothes to dry and a on a clothesline he did spy
An old mother Hubbard he quickly stole;
And the dress he scrambled in for to cover up his skin
And down along the dock he took a stroll.

As he was standing on the pier, gazing around without fear,
A billy goat rushed up with a shock
And he hit Maloney free where his bustle ought to be
And knocked him into the river from the dock.

Now Maloney he was soaking; he came very nearly croaking,
For a bath like that he never took in Cork,
And they tied him into a lump and pumped him out with stomach pump
On the night Maloney landed in New York.

Now Maloney for a lark took a stroll in Central Park.
Sure everything seemed to him so rich and rare.
As he was gazing at this and that, he thought he saw a striped cat,
And stooped to picked it up with greatest care.

Oh what was his surprise as he opened up his eyes,
He threw it to the ground with a ker-chunk.
'Twas a word without a doubt that he very soon found out,
That the cat he'd picked up it was a skunk!

And with his fingers to his nose he went and buried all his clothes

The version I learned from my grandmother has different lines in place of the "a bath like that he never took in Cork" line given above.

"... and he cursed the day he left the town of Cork."
"... and he prayed the Lord would send him back to Cork."

My grandfather also had a slightly different line

WorldCat.org shows that the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library has a copy of the sheet music for THE NIGHT MALONEY LANDED IN NEW YORK, words and music by J. D. Flynn, published by J. D. Flynn in Long Island City, NY, ©1899. (Alas, it's not viewable online.)

The catalog entry says it has 4 verses. That suggests that the lyrics posted by our Guest on 04 Oct 2010 should be grouped as four 12-line stanzas. The fact that every 12th line is "On the night Maloney landed in New York" confirms this.
