Subject: RE: my new radio show From: Bugsy Date: 22 Mar 03 - 06:43 PM The ABC (Like your BBC) had a wonderful radio show over, here once upon a time, called "Folk and Beyond". Murray Jennings, the best folk presenter/producer I have ever heard, said he called it that so he could play anything he thought his audience would enjoy, and if challenged that it was not folk, could always say "I know, it's BEYOND". The programme was unfortunately scrapped by the powers that be in the ABC when they started down the road to "ratings". I'm sure he wouldn't mind you using the name if you liked it. CHeers Bugsy |

Subject: RE: my new radio show From: open mike Date: 23 Mar 03 - 02:40 AM thanks all you well wishers.. i did read Rachel Corrie over the air and had 2 hours filled with tunes and songs...once when i was explaining the Faustian imagery of teh Crossroads theme, going on about selling my soul to the devil, Rob't Johnson, etc. I got a phone call to remind me that the studio mike was still on! oops...the secret is out...debut, indeed! I played the Duct Tape Blues, an Emmy Lou sond which was in French, Tom Paxton's song in memory of the fire fighters at the World Trade Center, songs of life and death, and implored folks to share with humanitarian organizations like UNICEF, Red Cross, and the local Peace Center. Keep a light burning for peace! Laurel today Oroville, tomorrow the world!! thanks for offers of tunage for future show...knobs, dials, meters, so much to learn! |

Subject: RE: my new radio show From: open mike Date: 24 Mar 03 - 12:41 PM great good fortune! thanks for support, donations, and all! yankee hill is upstream from Oroville. Oroville is in Butte County (or County Butte )and is a couple of hours north of Sacramento. 1/2 hour south of Chico. (between san francisco and reno)as it is a low power station, the signal does not reach far, yet, but repeaters ad web streaming are on the agenda. Not yet a year old, the station is just getting off to a start. I am going to see if i can stream the signal thru my pal talk room on sat. the 12 of april...i will put up an announcemnt/invite...thanks, y'all! |
Subject: RE: my new radio show From: JedMarum Date: 24 Mar 03 - 12:58 PM Best of luck with the new radio show. I am sending you a copy of my new CD too. |
Subject: RE: my new radio show From: GUEST,Arnie Date: 24 Mar 03 - 06:47 PM What type of program do you have planned? I looked at the station site and it looks as if there is perhaps a program of old time music and another bluegrass show listed on the schedule. I have some CD's that fall into those genres. Should I send you them? Arnie Naiman |
Subject: RE: my new radio show From: open mike Date: 25 Mar 03 - 12:08 AM My show is not actually on the web site schedule yet\\\\ as last weekend was my opening offering. I would like to feature acoustic, bluegrass, old-timey, celtic, "americana", singer/songwriter, "folk", gospel, blues, esp. songs with a message or commentary contained within! Any submissions welcomed, and shared! I hope to feature live music whenever I get the chance. Thank you, and if anyone has resource info to share for a fellow radio programmer, that would help me as I launch into this new area. working on the 50 mega-zillion transmitter! (or at least one that would get the signal to my house 30 miles away for a start!!) I expect to stream the signal thru the mudcat room on the pal talk web site next show as I have invited live musicians to play fiddle tunes becaus the CA state fiddle championships will be happening at that time in Oroville, a couple of blocks form the station!!! and there will be no royalty issues with live, traditional music!! I perform at the contest, too, as an accompanist for some of the junior and senior fiddlers, so as a member of the old time fiddle association, hope to get others to come by the station. I have sent to several record labels for submissions for the show, and appreciate the out pouring of mudcats donations ...love you all!! Laurel (a.k.a. radio name: "Common 'Tater) |
