According to this document, dated May 2002, the song "Riding on a Donkey" is included in a proposed revision of the Church of Scotland's Hymnary. They cite as a source "Children's Praise." The first line of the song is "Here comes Jesus on a donkey."

Maybe someone who has this book can help you out.

"Junior Praise" (Great Britain) has a different one yet again:
"Here Comes Jesus Riding on a Donkey" which is sung to the tune of "What Shall We Do with the Drunken Sailor".
A few years ago I was *banned* from having my Sunday School class perform this in a Palm Sunday service at a United Reformed Church !!!

Jeannie
I too have been 'banned' from using certain songs with Sunday School classes and also personally in church. We have actually been asked to leave a church for singing 'Streets of London' because it made the congregation feel uncomfortable. We had a minister who was given the cold shoulder for a while for bringing into the church, and using, his guitar - a major crime compounded by the choice of hymn - Holy Spirit, Love divine to the tune of Freight Train. Another that has caused 'problems' is Spirit of God to the tune of the Skye Boat Song!

Life goes on - so keep smiling!

Here comes Jesus on a donkey
Riding oh so slow
Little children run before him
Singing as they go

Hosanna, hosanna, singing all day long
Hosanna, hosanna, Jesus loves their song
