Guardian cartoonist today introduced a Tony Blair lookalike into his "If" strip, talking about peace and backing tye UN and all that. Or maybe it's the real Tony Blair who has turned up at last...

You can complain about Blair all you want, but listening to the Bush/Blair news conference this morning I was downright envious. *Your* head of state can actually form coherent sentences and intelligence arguments without resorting to religious hyperbole.

Blair has probably significantly reduced the street-cred of those who would get rid of the Queen as Head of State. Just as Thatcher did in her day.

And the clincher tends to be to advise people to look across the Atlantic and look at that for a Head of State.
