Subject: RE: BS: Things you grew up with, still around From: GUEST,Kim C no cookie Date: 31 Mar 03 - 10:47 AM I forgot to mention, the classic Disney animated films. Beccy, I am going to try that! It sounds great! And I love ginger ale, although nowadays I buy the diet kind. Think I will buy myself a Lite-Brite for my next birthday. :-) And let's not forget the good ol' Etch-a-Sketch. One of my favorite toys when I was a wee lassie. |

Subject: RE: BS: Things you grew up with, still around From: Blues=Life Date: 31 Mar 03 - 01:24 PM Kareem's Sky Hook. Well, I may be the only guy using it, but I put it up last night playing high school kids, and they had no idea what it was, or how to defend against it. I'm only 42, that's not old, is it? Hook....Swish! Blues |

Subject: RE: BS: Things you grew up with, still around From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 01 Apr 03 - 09:27 AM Lots I remember from Vicks vapa rub (got a jar in the kitchen) to various yummy sweet things & savoury stuff & household products. I didn't remember crayons - I had Derwent pencils. Eventually I had 72 full length pencils (they're on the bookshelf beside me). But only 6 or maybe 12 half length ones when I was at school. Wagon wheels (mashmallow filled biscuits in case they were only a local treat). In my day in an open waxed paper bag, now hermatically sealed in foily/plasticy stuff. Half the fun is gone. Fantales (my colleagues were sharing a bag & the wrappers yesterday). Minties, like Fantales a threat to teeth, we used to tear the wrappings around & around & around & try to make the longest trail. Skateboards - a 45 year old friend got on his nephew's skateboard recently & fell on his bum, bruising it very badly. But he still remembered how to fall, even to he had forgotten to practice a bit before trying something elaborate, BP Petrol - my parents had a garage with a shop where our dog Lassie used to eat Wagon Wheels unless Dad put the box on the counter. How many kids ate what would be called contaminated food today? And we all grew up healthy. And of course, neighbourhood singalongs where everyone entertained themselves (now we call them singing sessions) sandra |
