I gave up mid February and left CT and moved south to NC for good.
So I am very sorry for the snow ya'll are still getting in the North East. If it makes you feel better is is suppose to rain for five days here and only be in the high 50's after serveral weeks of 70's (with one wierd Sunday in the mid 30's...after 80 the day before- ) Everything is blooming here.

yesterday: sunny but chilly and windy. I walked a bit in the sun anyway, good to get outside...
Tonight: we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow. I do hope it's dry and powdery so I can at least get some cross-country skiiing out of it...but I have a feeling it will be wet and slushy...
We have had some daffodisl, crocuses and those little blue things poping up and a few buds getting bigger; hopefully this won't damage any crops too badly. Snow on top of unfrozen soil might be a good thing if we don't get too much rain right away...at least the drought of the last 3 years is not a problem now.
Locally they're saying New England's maple syrup will do well this year! I guess having a thaw and then more winter weather is good for sap flowing more slowly...
I am more worried for the strawberry growers...

Yup, 1 hr north of NYC, we are forecast to get 6-12 inches today, w/ sleet on top for good effect. Most of the schools closed, but, so far, no snow.

Ther weather man just said 8-12 inches of heavy wet snow in New Jersey tommorrow ! But, but I want to garden and the forsythia is half blossomed... And I put the shovels away! Damn.

Today was the first day since Monday that it didn't snow. The sap even ran a bit. Normally this would be about the END of the sap season--most are still waiting for it to happen.

I've refused to shovel snow this week. Fortunately the accumulations have not been huge. I'm gonna wait it out.

I think there's more on for tomorrow.

It was sunny and probably 65 F here today. Beautiful day for a walk to town. Been cold the last couple of weeks though..more like January than April. Everything is in the same state of budding that it was in February...leaves not on trees yet, which is unusual. Daffodills have done exceptionally well this year..rhodies not for the most part blooming yet.

A weather front is passing through Juneau this morning bringing small pellet-like snow. Don't expect any accumulation. Crocuses are in riotous bloom, day lilies are poking up out of the soil and it looks like daffodil spears are showing.

3:30 p.m. on Saturday 4/5. Indianapolis, after temps in the 70s (F.) yesterday, is in the upper 30s, which is a bummer. No snow or other precip yet, but it looks likely. Frankly, I haven't heard the forecast.

We got ICE last night. The whole county (north of Detroit) was covered in a sheet of ICE. Tree limbs snapping off from the weight. Power out to 250000 customers. Yuck!!! Time to knock off this stuff.

It started snowing here in NH sometime Thursday evening, and has only stopped for a few hours on Friday. After digging out the car, Bat Goddess and I headed to the Press Room for the Friday session. Now the forecast called for a full day of ice on Saturday, so we plotted our survival for the day. First I bought lottery tickets for Sat. night's drawing. I have a great fear of the numbers coming up if ever I fail to play them. We then assessed our supplies; plenty of coffee, cat food, beer, tequila and Scotch, leftover chowder for dinner and a brie en croute for lunch.

Saturday came without ice, just more snow, now leaving the last of our firewood under 8 inches of the "stuff." Dug out the car again, after digging out some firewood. Went to the store for a can of clams to fill out the chowder, some daffodils for inspiration, and a package of frozen Oysters Rockefeller to compliment the brie. Opened a botle of champagne and celebrated our survival. Its still snowing, the house is cold, but we're toughing it out. Spring will come, but probably only some long weekend in May before the temperatures soar. Cheers -- Tom

Actually, Sabine didn't go out. Tom opened the door at her demand, she looked out and decided she'd rather go upstairs.

She was just able to roll in the dirt in the driveway for the first time earlier this week. The mud was finally starting to go away.

Bad enough that we woke to white shhhhhh-stuff Monday and Wednesday mornings -- but it was gone by noon.

Woke up this morning to about 6 inches of it. It may possibly have stopped, but they say it's gonna be sporadic all weekend. And Sabine the cat just went out. Told her she wouldn't like it. Bet she'll be at the window in about two minutes. Oh yeah, and sleet, freezing rain and all that other delightful stuff. Made me miss the Mac Geek Meet last night.

I have NO remaining sense of humor about winter. None.

Poor snowdrops finally got up enough courage to lift their little heads up and look what happens. Raked some leaves out of flower beds on Wednesday. Probably a mistake.

Ptah! as Nero Wolfe would say.

An inch or two in Boston was what I awoke to. More snow would not bother me if there were enough for another jaunt of cross-country skiiing. But as it is there will simply be close to a week of wintry mix precip. Yuck! No gardening for me.

Here in Midhurst Ontario a good 15 cm fell last night, on top of the freezing rain. When I got up this morning and saw the ridge of heavy dirty wet snow the plow left at the end of the drive, I felt so old and gray and tired ...

But lo and behold, when I stepped out the door, shovel resolutely in hand a moment ago, I discovered that some absolute angel had cleared it away with a snowblower for me already - anonymously! What a relief! Think I'll go find the right neighbour to hug - right now!!

Ooooo my heart is so WARM right now, just had to share it! Gotta LOVE Canadian weather - and my wonderful neighbours!

It has been nice down here for a couple of days, but the five-day forecast now includes thunderstorms, and along with those charmers come one of the midwest's least attractive features--tornadoes. I would happily trade a colder longer winter for a benign spring, summer and fall free of tornadoes.

We got 8 feet from the St. Pat's storm. I'm still digging
out from that one. Got a foot more about a week later. So
there's plenty of white stuff and we won't be seeing the
ground for awhile. At least we don't have to worry about

All but the biggest piles were gone. Some grass was green. Bulbs were pushing up. Then...Snow Sunday, Monday, most of today. Not a whole lot, but too much for me.

I had to get my boots back out. Yesterday I forgot my regular shoes for work. Today I went back to shoes & rain coat. I'm sure I'll be regretting that in a few minutes.
