Slubbing Billy`s (a north west clog side) are going to Sidmouth for the first weekend, and then remnants are bobbing across to catch a bit of the Interceltique at Lorient.
Does anyone have any suggestions of where we could have a dance ourselves (not at Lorient), maybe at a Fete or something nearby? It seems a pity for us to be over there with kit and not have a bit of a "do".
Alex

just about any summer weekend you'll find a "Fest Noz" somewhere nearby. Look for posters or ask at local tourist offices
I prefer these local parties to the big festivals. Anyone is welcome to join the dancing.

I went to a great one in the wee town of "Cra'ich"

there's a teaching week on one of the islands near L'Orient, ask the tourist office to find out this year's dates

not so near L'orient but they teach dances to the visitors one night a week in Le Havre I think

There's a big festival at Guingamp and also in St frambault but they are around the 14th August. There's hundreds of small village do's. I think there is a kind on walking festival with music and dance from the mount in the middle of Brittany around the first week of August. Going over this weekend so I'll see if I can find anything.

Cheers Sarah

Guincamp is quite a bit north of Lorient. Lots of pipers on streets, name concerts in park. I don't recall any participatory dancing there (but I was not inside the park)

There's a big square in the middle of Lorient where there is a lot of busking going on during the festival.
I'm sure if you just started busking your routine in the square it would go down a treat.
There's also a lot of busking in Quimper.
Also, as Philippa says, there's a Fest Noz going on in almost every night. I'm sure the organisers would only be too happy to put on an extra act - especially if you could include something that the audience can join in.
You could also put a wee ad in the local journal Ouest France. It's a good paper for finding out where the gigs, concerts and Fest Noz's are taking place.
Here their site http://www.ouest-france.fr/
Whatever happens you'll have a ball. It's a great place
