What a remarkable thing the body is...imagine her brain cells working all of this time building new pathways. Lots of work ahead, but how wonderful that she is back.

Now, if she'd been on a life support system, the suggestion would have been to pull the plug, and there'd have been discussion about it at the bedside, as like as not.

And, hearing is the last faculty to go, so she would have heard the discussion...is that what you're getting at, Kevin? I had a wonderful training nurse who made sure we understood the importance of being respectful and careful with our words, even around a comatose patient. She had horror stories of people who woke up after surgery and could repeat verbatim all kinds of nasty and irreverent things said by the surgeons and staff, some quite derogatory to the patient!

To bring music into this thread- on my first visit to my surgeon post surgery, the surgeon asked me, Oh! Do you play banjo or something?

I said, tentatively, Guitar.

She said, That's what I told the other doctors!

I have calluses on my left hand fingers. Took me a little aback to stop and realize that they discuss you while you're out.
