From: Old Grizzly

Hi all,

I have a friend who used to have this ? hymn ? sung to her as a child and would dearly love the rest of the lyrics.
Hymns and sacred music are probably not what most folk look for in this forum, but I hope you can help in this case.
All she can remember is :

I have a heavenly mother up in glory land
I don't expect to stop until I shake her hand
She's waiting there for me and that's one thing I know
I can't feel at home in this world any more

Oh Lord you know I have no friend like you
If heaven's not my home then Lord what would do?
The angels beckon me from heavens open doors
And I can't feel at home in this world any more.

Kind regards to all
Dave

I can't feel at home in this world anymore...
is the name of the song.
I believe song by the Carter Family...
But I am not sure if it was written by them.
I found it on
www.bluegrasslyrics.com/carterfamily

I like the song too.

Mary

Gospel songs are not at all unusual requests. As a matter of fact it was covered before in this thread.

Thank you all !!

In less than three quarters of an hour you have solved a problem she has spent years on! She will be absolutely delighted.

I am very new to this forum and I am most impressed.
Enough perhaps to maybe start singing out regularly again after a 20 odd year break.

Kind Regards to all
Dave

Bible preacher James McDonald from the Walk in the Word ministry mentioned these lyrics in one of his radio broadcasts last week. It moved me to find these lyrics because we are having a celebration of life for our mother today. I love bluegrass gospel music and what it brings from our rich past as a Christian nation. Thanks for your post. I will be reading these lyrics today at her servide.

Subject: Lyr Add: THIS WORLD IS NOT MY HOME
From: RunrigFan
Date: 23 Oct 11 - 06:01 AM

This world is not my home, I'm just a-passing through
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue
The angels beckon me from heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

My Savior pardoned me from guilt and shame I know
I'll trust His saving grace, while traveling here below.
I know He'll welcome me from heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

I have a precious mother up in glory land
I don't expect to stop until I clasp her hand
For me she's waiting now at heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore

The saints in glory land are shouting victory
I want to join their band and live eternally
I hear the sweetest praise from heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore
