hi all, long time no see.

as i'm scurrying off to ireland this summer i figure it'd be most desireable to stock myself up with folksongs...however my memory can't really do the job too well so I was figuring on taking over a bundle of melodies and lyrics and working them out over there. hence, MIDI files will be rather difficult to learn from when i'm in a tent in Galway. Does anyone know of any particularly worthwhile websites featuring mucho melodies written out in notation? Alternatively I suppose I'll get some books out of the library but if there's stuff out there, it'd be ideal.
Go raibh maith agat,
Leo

Hi, Leo - you can also go to our download page and download the entire Digital Tradition Folk Song Database. The Windows and Mac versions will make sheet music for you. If you have music software, you can make use of our MIDI files here for making sheet music.

well, thank you very much to both of you, this is exactly what i was after! my intention this summer is to travel with absolutely no recorded music in an effort to get on better terms with my own voice. this'll go a long way to helping. thanks!

*grin* another leo eh? asking for tunes *grin* must be something about the name...

If the song you want doesn't appear to have a tune in the DT - check out the Great Tune Hunt thread and see if it has been posted. I believe I've got at least a couple hundred that aren't yet in the DT- most can be e-mailed in sheet music form or NoteWorthy Composer for your own printing.
