From: Oaklet
Date: 12 Apr 03 - 10:28 AM

Ron the electrical contractor has done the business, Gill has endured 6 nights in darkness, North Lincs Council has confirmed that they will not pursue prosecution and there is now a piano in the bar. Reports of the Sloop's death as a music venue are premature. How about confirming that she has not toiled in vain by moving, en mass to the Sloop on Tuesday evening. American types, it might be best to use Amsterdam and the KLM/Air UK flight to Humberside International. Bulk in the Corner will put you up at a moment's notice. See you there.

To all those sensitive types who are worried about the state of the toilets in the Sloop - this is to allay your fears. They are just as bad as ever! Hurrah!!

Bassic, you are the limit. You just drivelled on a virgin thread. Anyway, Raedwulf has passed comment and some Americans will as well when they awake. It will be a different session with the electricity properly earthed, I am sure.

Oakley, my doctor says this "driveling on virgins" thing is a medical problem and you are not to get me upset by refering to it anymore in the playground. My mum is writing a note.

Greetings to you all!
It is good to be back on de airwaves since my rather.....sudden departure from the 24hour news channels accross the world when the PEL police arrived in their tanks on the banks of the Humber and started shelling our wonderfull and glorious session. Yes they scored a direct hit on the bagd ....oops, little slip of de tongue there, BARTON ELECTRIC COMPANY power plant, scareing Oakleys cows into an over production of methaine which TEMPORARILY caused the system to block up.

However our heroic citizens put on their NBC suits and have now restored full power. We of the Jacuzzie Party would particularly like to thank the embeded journalist from the BBC Look North team who brought our plight to the world and would like to reassure you all once again that there are NO instruments of Mass Destruction being played at the Sloop on Tuesday nights. (The digeridoo is a short range version and cannot be heard ouside the walls.)

I would just like to thank the Citizens of this fair town for recognising my unique tallents and offering me a safe haven in the current (240V) crisis.

Commical Ali

In return for cutting her grass (and several other favours ahem) Mrs Drinkall from no 21 has just bought me a pint of Guinness to be taken in the Hope and Anchor where she cleans, and I have banned myself from the pub for ever - or at least till it changes hands. What do I do?

Perhaps a disguise? Large `tash and a beret and that Army surplus coat in the back of your wardrobe should do the trick. It has been known to work for others! Oh, and for heavens sake dont go in humming diddly diddly tunes or they might guess. And perhaps go in the company of several very tall friends and hide behind them. I am sure no one would notice!!

Yes,yes, yes, just been to have a chat to Gill, the piano seems in tune, there is a big smile on her face, Bloke is pleased to announce that his box playing daughter is on vacation from her Gallic penance, and desperate to see everyone on Tuesday. Please turn up and make it another BIG LOVELY session. Who knows, Oak Leaf might even play more than one tune before he starts networking. Really, Kit is so looking forward to seeing and playing with you all. Hmmm, nice turn of phrase...

Any Americans come and I shall bar them with my walking stick so Oaklet think on. Any strangers may be entrapment officers embedded to stich Gill up for #1000 or so. We must be vigilant of strangers and suicide sods.Isn't Kit real? She looks the right shape if memory serves.

Oaklet dear, I have a solution... (the pint of Guinness is also of course a solution) *I* will drink the pint bought by Mrs Drinkall from no 21! She and I are of course good friends of long standing, and the sharing of a pint may encourage her to tell me more spicy titbits about your homelife, for the benefit of future drivelfests.

And a piano in the Sloop, nay an in tune piano at the Sloop, is one further reason for traipsing across the Pennines. It's a good while since I played an in tune piano in a pub session :0) Was this a free gift with the rewiring?

Abject appologies to Stevy boy. I reckon you're in the clear. I shall attend the Carnival on Sat. night. Also, I have to see Kit to totally refresh my memory. Thus, with ice axe and crampons, shall tackle the North Face of Ferriby Road.

Once more we call to all Catters in the East Yorks/Lincs area, come to the Sloop session tomorrow, 22nd April, and continue to show support for Gill and her turning-self-inside-out-to-keep-session efforts, and of course because it's a darned good session. Kit's looking forward to playing with you all again, though Skippy won't be there. I'm sure there will be pizza.

Me an Nikki will be in Newcastle and as a consequence will miss the session but have a good one and we'll see you a) at the Six Bells on 27th and b) next week at the Sloop (depending on when sue's funeral is).

Perhaps it's the remarkable coming together of an entire room full of musical visionaries, who can spot where any home-made tune on its maiden voyage is going, and enthusiastically accompany the premiere with their own forecast, without the constraint of staying in key. Or perhaps it's pizza. Dunno.

Guest why THIS session; Who said it was good? The usual cry is have a good one! (in hope I think) But dispite the fact that many of us have our premonition turned on and are often wrong, we enjoy ourselves. Try it and you might be supprised, or end up in hysterics either way who cares.

Skipjack K8 we all know there is only one key one day we will all learn that it's the same one ie the key of PIPE!
