EVERYBODY'S TALKIN'
Words and music by Fred Neil
As recorded by Harry Nilsson in the soundtrack of "Midnight Cowboy" (1969)

Everybody's talkin' at me.
I don't hear a word they're sayin',
Only the echoes of my mind.
People stoppin', starin'.
I can't see their faces,
Only the shadows of their eyes.

|: I'm goin' where the sun keeps shinin'
Through the pourin' rain.
Goin' where the weather suits my clothes,
Bankin' off o' the northeast winds,
Sailin' on summer breeze,
Skippin' over the ocean like a stone. :|

Everybody's talkin' at me.
Can't hear a word they're sayin',
Only the echoes of my mind.
I won't let you leave my love behind.
No, I won't let you leave.
I won't let you leave my love behind. [Fade]

I think the two guitar arrangement is tabbed in this or last month's acoustic guitar magazine, but I can barely even play one guitar. I play it in c, and I think he does but with a capo on 4?--somewhere around there.

So what I do is Cm, Cmaj7 (I add the 3rd string b also)slide it down a fret to C dom7 and finger the second string c-note again, then Dm, then G. I keep a hammer-pull-off going all the way through--e/d on the c-chords, a/g on dm, a/g or b/g on G. It gives it that spilling, hemiola feel.

The I'm goin section starts on the Dm, then G, back to C and Cdom7.
A really great song, I think.
