Subject: Selling on ebay From: kendall Date: 15 Apr 03 - 04:30 AM I'm thinking of advertising my tapes, CDs and book on e bay. Anyone had that experience? There are piles of gobbledegook to wade through, and, I don't have the patience for it. Feedback please. |

Subject: RE: Selling music on ebay From: JJ Date: 15 Apr 03 - 08:22 AM I've sold thousands of dollars worth of stuff on eBay, and it is not difficult. However, if you don't have the temperament to run what amounts to a small business, don't do it. Selling on eBay demands daily devotion to record keeping, sending e-mails, waiting for checks to clear and standing in line at the post office. |

Subject: RE: Selling music on ebay From: curmudgeon Date: 16 Apr 03 - 11:16 AM Kendall -- eBay is best used for selling old stuff. However, you might want to look into selling your music at Amazon. Dani-C -- The best way to search for something on eBay is to narrow your search as much as possible. Otherwise you can get thousands of things that you don't care about. Let us know what you are looking for and I'll show you how to find it -- Tom |
Subject: RE: Selling music on ebay From: Gypsy Date: 16 Apr 03 - 11:23 AM you can always draft a friend.......am currently selling for a friend of mine, on a commission basis. He supplies me with product, and i do the paperwork and shipping. have done it in the past with instruments, and works well for all concerned. Amazon would be a good venue, but you REALLY need to be on top of stock with them. |
Subject: RE: Selling music on ebay From: DADGBE Date: 16 Apr 03 - 02:33 PM To hell with e-Bay! Kendall, what stuff r'you selling? I just got paid for playing at a contra dance and I'm loaded with almost ten whole dollars of pure profit. |
Subject: RE: Selling music on ebay From: Deni-C Date: 16 Apr 03 - 04:58 PM I wasn't looking, curmudgeon. An artist friend of mine said he is signing up to sell his gorgeous paintings and I thought it might be good fr selling our CDs. But someone has said amazon is a better bet. Mind you, I have got loads of old stuff to sell. Victorian sheet music and the like..... Thanks deni-C |
Subject: RE: Selling music on ebay From: curmudgeon Date: 16 Apr 03 - 05:07 PM Deni-C -- Before listing anything on eBay, make sure to see what people are asking for similar items. Then click on the "completed" link to the left and see what people have actually sold things for. Make sure to include a picture; scanners work for most paper items. No picture -- no sale. |
Subject: RE: Selling music on ebay From: Jim Colbert Date: 17 Apr 03 - 09:04 AM I buy and sell things regulary on eBay, although it's never been a real "business" type thing to me. I find locally I can only get a couple bucks trade in anymore on discs, and I usually average $7 or so on eBay, often way more for rarities and collectables. Mundane stuff I tend to trade locally cause it isn't worth spending time scanning and entering the info to pocket 2 bucks! I've picked up some great CD and songbook bargains there too. Half.com is also okay for listing stuff- they often have a listing for what you're trying to sell and you just list your asking price and brief info- much quicker, but I have also had things sit there for months whereas an ebay auction you define how long it lasts for. One other piece of advice, make sure you have the auction active over the weekend. BTW, can't you also do a Mudcat auction that partly benefits the web site? jim |
