I need some ideas for romantic love songs for married couples. I know the Anniversary Song (I call it the Anniversary Waltz but I have been corrected), "Do I Love You?" (from Fiddler on the Roof) and "My Cup Runneth Over With Love" (which was recorded by Ed Ames). After those songs, I'm out of ideas. Come on, Mudcatters. Dont let me down.

Nice suggestions. I know some of them.
Roseville Fair is perfect, as is When You and I Were Young, Maggie.

I'm kind of surprised that there aren't more. There are a lot of married people and they can really use a romantic song every once in a while. If they're lucky, more often than that. I love my wife and I'd like to express my love musicaly but all the good songs are written for the courted or the jilted.

Love of My Life (Freddy Mercury) - except its about someone leaving - but the overall message is ok.

I have been trying for years to convince someone to do an album of grownup love songs. (All those songs that have to do with the loved one's physical appearance, or all the ones that involve any form of whining, are essentially juvenile.)
Who wrote "Fire in the Lake"? (I still need to feel your love steady against the change; I still need to feel your love. . .persevere.)
Linda Allen "October Roses" (She wrote it as a "women's power" song, I know, but it makes a fantastic love song for grownups.)

"Belle of Broughton" would be a favourite. (Interestingly, the Mudcat search didn't spot this, but Google found it on Mudcat just fine. Go figure.)

Plenty of Tom Paxton. "I give you the morning" and "My lady's a wild flying dove" are generic love-songs but good nonetheless, and have the bonus that everyone knows them and can sing along.

Another Tom Paxton love song is "You Are Love," which he wrote for his wife. Also Barbara Keith's "The Bramble and the Rose" comes to mind - I particularly like that one because it recognizes that marriages are not always perfect. Even clearer on that point is Kristina Olsen's "It's Those Little Failings."
