Subject: TAB request: 'Granemore Hare:

Does anyone know of a source for TABs or chords for songs such as "Granemore Hare" or "Lord Gregory" in the style of Martin Simpson?

Yo!

There are Five here. Neither of them are what you specifically asked for, but, hey, a man can't get enough of Simpson, right?

You can buy (what? BUY???) a book of Simpson Tabs
Here - minus 'The Granemore Hare'. Typical!
I'm not sure if These ones are all the same as the ones on the first link; I recognise Delia, anyway.
But there's a link to a whole pile of tabs from loads of different musicians Here, including Simpson.

So far I can't find either of the two you've specifically asked for. But this might do for a start, and I'll delve a bit deeper later on.

Have fun.

B.

Oh Dear, I feel a bad night coming on!!! One more time:

I found that I had Martin Simpson's "Leaves of Life" CD (bought used some time ago). But I bought a new copy because it came with Martin's own TAB for the songs, including "Lord Gregory," which, by the way, has a very unusual tuning. Would still like the chords or TAB for "Granemore Hare" or "Hills of Greenmore," however. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Randy

I noted elsewhere a request for this tune. Maybe somebody has already posted it. If so, I couldn't find it. This is the air as I know it. Mind you I can't recall where or when I learned it but I'm fairly sure that what I've put down here is what is sung in and around south Armagh.

Robin Morton's book "Folksongs sung in Ulster" has a version but the tune that is given there is, if I remember rightly, "Villikens". I have never ever heard "The Granemore Hare" sung to the tune of "Villikens", "The Oul' Orange Flute" or"Sweet Betsy from Pike".

There was a great version on the old black round things by Al O'Donnal.
