Subject: RE: Anyone know this song? It's important! From: Helen Date: 28 Apr 03 - 01:15 AM The Misfits from their album called "Walk Among Us" Mommy Can I Go Out And Kill Tonight http://www.modernrocklyrics.com/M/misfits_walkamongus.html Try using Google.com to do searches. I just copied the first phrase i.e. Razor-blades love teenage flesh and used that as the search term. Wizardry, no less, for finding out info on the net. Helen |

Subject: RE: Anyone know this song? It's important! From: Helen Date: 28 Apr 03 - 03:04 AM It's hard to say, Amos, because it depends what it was needed for. It seems relevant to the schoolyard shootings which have been happening in the last few years. A couple of weeks ago there was an incident only about 10 miles from here when a high school boy shot his ex-girlfriend and another girl, who was in the line of fire of the first shot, with a crossbow. There were some hints that the boy had been bullied or made fun of by the girl. Helen |

Subject: RE: Anyone know this song? It's important! From: katlaughing Date: 28 Apr 03 - 08:07 AM No more grim than the song of the mother who took out her knife and killed her baby in Flowers of the Valley. Scarification is a phenomenon among young people today. Perhaps this song is important to someone who is on the edge of self-destruction? I guess it's all relative. Helen, that's another one for bullies, then? How sad. thanks, kat |

Subject: RE: Anyone know this song? It's important! From: Amos Date: 28 Apr 03 - 07:50 PM Fiddler -- I am as tolerant as most people I know. But I have looked over the lyrics that the Misfits have posted on the reference page. I'm glad they're getting an opportunity to express themselves, and all that, but on the other hand, their sense of aesthetics, poetics and entertainment is as refined as dog-shit on the carpet. There's a great bit of dialogue in the Milton Katselas movie, "Butterflies are Free" Rebellious Young Poet: ... but these things are part of REAL life! Self-assured Matron: So is diarrhea, but that doesn't mean I need to write poems about it! (From memory). A |
