THE BLACKEST CROW

As time got near my dearest dear when you and I must part
How little you know of the grief and woe in my poor aching heart
'Tis but I'd suffer for your sake believe me dear it's true
I wish that you were staying here or I was going with you.

I wish my breast were made of glass wherein you might behold
Upon my heart your name lies wrote in letters made of gold
In letters made of gold my love believe me when I say
You are the one that I will adore until my dying day.

The blackest crow that ever flew would surely turn to white
If ever I prove false to you bright day will turn to night
Bright day will turn to night my love the elements will mourn
If ever I prove false to you the seas will rage and burn.

Your eyes are of the sparkling blue
Your lips like rubies shine
There is no fault within my love
That ever I could find.

The hawk and the owl and the eagle
And the little sparrow, too.
I would give them all to thee my love
Gin I were wed to you.

Atwater-Donnely have a great version.
Also Bearfoot have another good version.

    G                       F          C                                                Am
1. As time draws near, my dearest dear,   When you and I must part,
          G               F                C                                           Am
What little you know of the grace and awe, Of my poor aching heart.
         C                                                       F       C
Each night I suffer for your sake, You're the one I love so dear;
    G          F       C                                                Am
I wish that I was going with you, Or you were staying here.

Subject: Lyr Add: BIG EYED RABBIT (from Jarrell/Cockerham)
From: GUEST,BanjoRay

Big Eyed Rabbit

Transcribed from a recording by Tommy Jarrell and Fred Cockerham
Key of A
Doubful words in italics

Yonder comes a rabbit
A- skipping through the sand
Zip that rabbit he don't mind
I'll fry him in my pan, lord
I'll fry him in my pan

Big eyed rabbit's gone, gone
Big Eyed Rabbit's gone

Yonder comes a rabbit just hard as he can run
Yonder comes another one
I'll shoot 'em with my double barrel gun, gun
I'll shoot 'em with my double barrel gun

Yonder comes my darlin'
It's how do you know
All to that pair of pretty blue eyes
They shine bright like gold, gold
Shine bright like gold

I'm rocking in a wearied land,
I'm rocking in a wearied land

Cheers
Ray

I think the lines with Ray's italicized words are

"Shoot that rabbit, he don't mind"

and

"I tell her by her pretty blue eyes"

Tommy's singing is a bit hard to decypher sometimes
