Subject: RE: The sheet music to the tune From: Jon W. Date: 04 Aug 98 - 07:25 PM Neither of those tunes is the one with which I am familiar from a recording by Alistair MacDonald. His words match the ones found in the DT (which unfortunatly don't have a MIDI file with them). I may be able to work out the melody for the song and post an ABC, if that's sufficient. Jon W. |
Subject: RE: The sheet music to the tune From: Ralph Butts Date: 04 Aug 98 - 09:22 PM Jon..... I have a beautiful recording of Glencoe (or "Massacre of Glencoe", or "Macdonald's Lament") by John McDermott which I'd be happy to share. Also, the lyric is in my database - ask and ye shall receive. I could also transcribe the melody line if I could figure out how to represent it. New computer coming, maybe I can crank up some of this notation software. .......Tiger |

Subject: Tune Add: THE MASSACRE AT GLENCOE From: alison Date: 05 Aug 98 - 04:27 AM Hi, Here you go. (Took the tune off a recording of "the massacre at Glencoe", from a great CD "An audience with Crooked Jack and Billy Maguire".) It's the tune I've always associated with "the rape of Glencoe". Words are in the database. Slainte alison

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Glencoe From: GUEST,Arkansas Red-Ozark Troubadour Date: 27 Apr 16 - 02:26 PM A very beautiful, but tragic song. In the chorus I'm confused. One line says, "Donald", and the other line says, "Macdonald". I don't understand the difference in the names. Could someone clear this up for me? Thanks- |
