Subject: Tune Req: WITH A BARNACLE UNDER THE BINNACLE From: MMario Date: 02 May 03 - 09:05 AM it's one of the DT's "missing tunes" - but there also isn't any discussion of it in the forum - so I thought I'd start a thread |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: WITH A BARNACLE UNDER THE BINNACLE From: Crane Driver Date: 02 May 03 - 07:08 PM I think this must be the song entitled "The Nautical Life" on Bob Walser's CD "When Our Ship Comes Home" - apparently collected in the eastern USA by one Ivar Haglund. Beyond that, I knows nothing .... Andrew |

According to Bob's CD notes, it is from Winifred I. Knox's unpublished masters thesis "Folksongs from the Olympic Peninsula and Puget Sound", Juliard School of Music, New York, July 1945. Bob's CD is on The Old and New Tradition ONTCD9902, and it's good. Andrew |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: WITH A BARNACLE UNDER THE BINNACLE From: Charley Noble Date: 02 May 03 - 08:24 PM It's really a weird little ditty, just the thing for singing with a group of half-fried friends while knocking about the bay! Cheerily, Charley Noble |
