Okay, so maybe it is the same Amy. She's definitely in Canada. She has really neat shoulders, and she's an excellent server.

Is that "Mother of Purple Prose" suit?

Hawk, I know you to be a man of catholic taste, but your ode to Winona really shows you to be past that and on towards "sick." Really man..........

In the first verse you relate her to perhaps a sailboat. I can see that okay, but then you go on in the second verse to treat her as a member of the 82nd Airborne! What's with that??? Then along comes verse three where she is either back to a sailboat that needs a scrubdown or an alchoholic and you're a friggin' vampire with a Diner's Club. In verse four she seems to have morphed into a Roma lass who is about to have a Menage a Trois with you and the Village Smithy!

Man, I had to quit reading at that point. It was getting way too bizarre. You need to see a shrink 'cause things don't seem to be too copacetic in your brain!!!

Spaw

MOPP is Mission-Oriented Protective Pantaloons or some such -- the hot poppa suits worn by troops in areas where radiation is high.

HE is, yes, Snidely. He's very big, very strong,, very scarey, has a very deep vpoce and eats twelve-strings for breakfast. His hands are registered lethal weapons -- he has to report in to the police when he intends to place them on a stringed instrument. He can kill a man with nothing more than an augmented chord. And he has a very, very short temper. He's built like a brick shithouse, too.

Just so you're ready.

Amos, I didn't know that anyone had ever actually swanned. All the swanner's I've ever known (and my maternal grandmother was a swanner of great renown) have always said, "I'll swan". That puts the actual act of swanning at some unspecified point in the future. They are saying that they will swan, but not naming the time at which this swanning will take place. I always sort of assumed that when one got to Heaven St. Peter would pull out a book that listed the number of times one had said, "I'll swan," and one had to, then, swan that many times before being allowed through the gates.

Only on The Mother of All BS Threads could anyone get away with posting such drivel without being threatened by angry mobs.

Bruce

I don't think I like anyone puttin' down that buttercup of a man Sheeney. He seems like a suave, chivalrous caballero to me, even if he does admit to being crusty. Why, I even heard he has an original Peter Max painting of the series, 'Crappers'. There's gotta be something to that.

Yeah, Spawzer, my Emmy caused me to shat a few times!

HERE IT IS!!! THE MOTHER OF ALL BS THREAD QUIZ!!!

Each question is worth 10 points. The bonus is worthless. The person who gets them all correct FIRST shall win a...

SINGED BEARMAT!!!!!

Naw...just foolin'!

A signed photo of someone!

All questions are music-related (as is the answers!) except one (to make it harder!), it is TV related.

So here goes!

THE MOTHER OF ALL BS THREAD QUIZ!!!!

!1?The first in the trio, the guitarist/singer died in 1970, the bassist died Sunday. If things follow a pattern, the drummer better watch out in 2036! Who is the drummer?

2?"Your wise men don't know how it feels to be?" WHAT?

3?Hootie and the Blowfish quoted what Dylan song in one of their songs?

4?The "Blues Magoos" had one "hit" in the mid-sixties. What was it?

5? The chord progression of "Hotel California" was inspired by what song?

6?This lap-slide player/singer/songwriter says he would not have ever learned to play had he not heard MJH. He was also on "Avalon Blues", the Hurt tribute album. Who is he?

7?Who starred as Quentin Collins?

8?"------- bound, ------- bound, it's good to be ------- bound". Fill in the blank. Who wrote the song?

9?This session drummer for many artists (Derek and the Dominoes, Zappa, Lennon, etc.) killed his mom and is in prison. Who is he?

10?Roger Miller covered this song, then Janis Joplin. What was it?

Bonus! It gets you no points but I am taking a poll!
Spaw's farts are:
(A)        Delightful
(B)        Pleasantly pungent
(C)        Pleasantly putrid
(D)        All the above

Go to it, boys and grills!

Regarding the Winona song, Spaw...whaddya mean? The lyrics are inspired... :-)

Anyway, y' got to realize how I write lyrics, my friend. I don't premeditate them or preplan anything, they just happen in a natural way...and they come out exactly as they are meant to by whatever mysterious power uses me to write them. I surrender to the muse. That's the only way to write a good song as far as I'm concerned, though some people do it exactly the other way around...like Al Stewart with "Roads To Moscow" (which is a great song). Fine with me, but that's not how I usually do it.

Could be, Mario -- the sense in the contexts I have heard it in would then mean something like "WOBH" or "Blow me down!" or "Shiver me timbers!" or "Well, I'll be..." or other phrases of that ilk. I had always thought it had the connotation of "I'll swear!" which makes it a little more akin to "WTFO?" or "Aw, shit". But that's just an unqualified opinion.

is this one:

"Dog bite my pecker!!!"

I knew a guy named Brian Cresswell who used to use it regularly. He had a number of weird expressions all his own. Another was "Shoot the hermit!". It meant "Go for broke".

She say thet Ah is Tom's boy but Shiney iz Tom Junyers. I bleeve it.

Shiney is a bitter feller frum havin to haver hiz nose at my butt, but thet is life. Yew gotta make the beast of it.

Last week, we moved heer to Alabamer and on oir first day, we wuz erested and chunked in jell. They say it iz a "morls charge" they holdin us on. They say butt kissin in pubic places aint aloud in Alabamer. I trod to splain it to them thet we wuz Chimese twins but they say "Tail it to the Juggs".

We still in jell but they have a liberry so the poiseners cud lern, thets how I git to play on the cumputter!

But ole Shiney, he dont lack it when I tail peepel he is a brown-noser and a suck-arse. It make him mad. Sumtime when he mad he bite my butt. But I gits back at him and eat sum spinnish and pintoes. Boy! He turn green!!!

So dont lissen to enythang he say caws hiz brane iz been comtamernatred over the yearz by persion gasses from my arse.

I wanna take Kinkydu's quiz sence bee-dubyell felled it so mizzerbly and I wont cheet like him caws I wont wair no Googles!

1 Thetd be eazy. The band iz dino dezzy and billy. I thank the drumber is dezzy. His daddy wuz thet Ardo feller on "Isle Uv Lucy" on Teevee. I dont knoe whos daddy wuz billys.

2 Your wise men don't know how it feels to be...erested in Alabamer on a morls charge.

3 Hooter and the Blowjobs sucked on the Dylan song "Idjit Wind"

4Blues Magoos? I don't knoe him, but I knue Red Magoos, he lived down thair on the Perkins place, the one thet had the bent cat. Peepel'd cum fer miles to see thet bent cat, we never did knoe how the dammed thang got bent though. Ole Red Magoos allus spekerlated it wuz in a car reck, but I never did see no cat drive a car. Red had a hit once. He sed it was ascid er sumpn lack it. He also called it Ellis Dee or eether Ellis Dee solt it to him. He went boggers affer thet.

5 Hotel California...Thet querschun kin be fingered out usin gudd old logic. The preecher thru him out and locked the door, so the boy hab to go summers, so he checked in to the Hotl Californee.

6 Lap slide player?? Iz thet enythang lack a slidin bored player?

7 Quentin Collins? I knue Finus Collins and he hab a hole passel uv kids, I thank thair'us one named Quentin, but No body played wif him caws he wuz allsu gittin in to trubbel. Old Finus finly run him off.

8"------ bound" Thets eazy. My mommer allus sung it to us. It wuz "Whupped and bound, whupped and bound, it's gudd to be whupped and bound".

9 Musta been old Grover Glover who kilt his own maw. He tuk some of thet Ellis Dee wif Red Magoo. He went rinkydink in hiz haid too. Kilt the bent cat.

Well all-right Mr. Sparty-Pants Khing Khernoodle. Let's try a REAL quiz this time! Hah! Let the battle of the kwizzes begin! No more "Hotel California" questions allowed!

1. Name at least three songs from the late 60's/early 70's whose titles refer to street names for LSD. ("Lucy in the Sky" ain't one of 'em.)

2. Two well-known acoustic guitar models were made by rival companies as the signature guitars for two well-known singing cowboys. What are the guitars and who were the cowboys? For extra credit, what was the more famous of the two cowboys biggest hit and who wrote it? Surprise!

3. For many years, rock guitarist Ted Nugent played a guitar model more commonly associated with jazz players. What was it?

4. What has been an item of English bluesman John Mayall's onstage attire since the 60's. (Don't be a smart-ass and answer "pants".)

5. Two late 60's/early 70's Florida garage bands of note were "The Second Coming" and "The One Percent". What did they change their names to.

6. True or false?   Eric Clapton is the only member of Derek and the Dominoes who is still alive, and not in a prison or a mental institution.

7. Frank Zappa's father was A) a symphony conductor B) a high school teacher C) a policeman D) Zappa never knew his father.

8. What noted guitarist auditioned for Linda Ronstadt's band and was told that the audition was over when he put a capo on his guitar?

9. John Hartford was well-known for dancing on an amplified stomp-box while playing the fiddle. What electronic device, more commonly associated with rock guitarists, did he incorporate into the amplification to give the stomp-box its unique sound?

10. Where and on what date was the largest assembled crowd to ever see and hear Jimi Hendrix perform live. (Hint: It wasn't Woodstock. Lots of people had already left Woodstock before Jimi ever got on stage.)

I ain't gonna play no "first person to get 'em all right gets a crappy little demo tape of my song about th' night I picked up Jesus while he was hitchin' down Interstate 10" games. Anybody get's 'em all right gets a free weekend at the Sandy Landing Yacht and Racquet Club! (Transportation and meals not included. Bring your own tent.)

Well Jesus Kwist if that don't beat all for the decline of empire. Here we have a score of the brightest and the best, a virtual Camelot, dedicated to the proposition that they can build a thread that will be the very best of all things BS and take over the world and win peace and freedom for all, feed the poor of spirit and raise up the downtrodden and the overly serious, and after a great start, a mere 250-some threads into this world class venture, it has degenerated into a quiz game!!

Well, I swan. Or, at least, I know someone who does. Anyway, I want to know what the Monarch of Mudcat Madness -- whichever of the three will answer -- proposes to do about this depressing dissipation and dispersal of energies. Surely we can do better than this!!
