No problem -- the finances are set up in a revocable trust with Pat as the Trustee. When the trust is closed she'll send certain people "shares" but if you bitch the will and trust say you get nothing, nada, zip, zilch...legal in Maryland.

Another day of fun has drawn to a close, as the sun sank silently and slowly in the western sky. Too bad that it was snowing and I couldn't see it. Well, Monday I fly back and see if the house is still standing, the bathroom remodeling is done, and if there are any bills waiting to be paid. Pat, on the other hand, will be at a Winter Quilt Retreat in Indiana.

The *Important Papaers* part is what Pat's working on now. Lots of things are coming out that before were Unknown, like the baby girl who was stillborn in 1947 in Louisiana. Many things have disappeared, things that might have made the marriage appear to be less than the Perfect Catholic Marriage, where the rosary was said each night before bed. History was rewritten the longer my Mother In Law lived, and her very brothers say that the longer she lived the poorer their family was. By the times she died I'm pretty sure they were scrounging rotten cabbage leaves and stinking turnips from the garbage can behind the grocery store for their morning gruel, which was eaten with moldy bread filched from the gutters, crushed beneath the wheels of the garbage trucks, but they prayed over every morsel as a Good Catholic Family should. Whatever tooted her horn, ya know, and while my own family wasn't rich during the Depression, they didn't starve although there were hungry times.

It's late and I'm going to bed very soon.

Two little peckerhead spammers thought they could come post their spam shit in MOAB. Ha! I pulled out my rapier sharp delete key and let them have it. Right between the ribs.

What I feared when I was in the Infantry has come to pass and is exemplified by SRS: women are now permitted in combat roles.

I greatly feared that, for as an Infantryman I knew that women would view the job as similar to cleaning the toilet: a dirty job, but it has to be done so let's get on with it.

I feared that when they bayoneted you they'd shove the blade in and twist it before yanking it out. Not that they would bayonet the wounded, but that they'd bayonet the survivors.

Go Stilly! Skewer them bastards!!! Git 'em!!! Cut and thrust so they never bother us again!!!!!

It is a tough job - the MOAB presents its own set of problems when touching posts. Any time you delete a post it wants to load the entire thread, so the trick is to wait a little while then close that browser window and reopen the MOAB the usual way and look to see if the pests are gone.

I think women in combat will make the powers that be think all the harder about starting wars and sending anyone into combat. I hope it will.

SRS... To paraphrase, "No mind lackies with no conscience will think twice before they send young women to die for the greed of their string pullers."

Good luck with that.

Thank you. I hope that the play wins the Golden Globes award. The PBJ movement has long intrigued me and it's about time someone wrote something about it and its founder, Dandy Rose Eddy. Burying his prose with his dead wife and then digging her up and ripping it from her cold, dead hands has always struck me as sort of NRA-ish, but as they say, "aye chicken aye son gout."

IF you get a chance to see a play called "Clybourne Park:", I recommend it highly. A real bitchslap of a play.

If you get a chance to see a movie called "Happy" I highly recommend it. Also. A booster shot.

That's what I'll do! I'll bury my guns with various dead people and then when the storm-booted jacktroopers come to take them they can rip my guns from cold, dead hands and not mine! Heck, maybe I'll even use other people's guns! I don't think it'll matter as long as there's guns and cold, dead hands. I think I'll use water guns -- supersoakers, real assault stuff -- so nobody gets hurt but just wet. Maybe I can get people who aren't dead but have cold hands hold the guns -- maybe just cold hands would be enough for the supersoakers to get ripped from.

Yeah!

"You'll get my water guns when you rip them from his or her cold hands!"

That sounds about right. Now on to dealing with more hysteria and irrational thinking.

Rap, a tip if you're still sorting and tossing and donating and such at your MIL's home: donations are a huge benefit to the estate when you get around to the complications of doing the income tax for the dearly departed. My father had literally dozens of walking and running shoes and lots of good-condition clothes. I counted and boxed (in U-Haul medium sized boxes) and had the St. Vincent De Paul folks pick them up. Giving each pair a flat value and doing the math resulted in enough donation to different places (don't donate more than $5000 to any one place or you need an appraisal) saved our bacon as far as paying tax. He'd had a CD mature and pay into his bank account that year and it would have bitten us hard. By donating the clothes to people who can really use them we benefited ourselves also.

Back to the regular folderol.

Stilly, we -- well, Pat -- are discovering a lot of different deductions: clothes (some unworn and still wrapped), medical, and others. And the poor twirp who she talked to about "closing" the apartment the other day may never find whatever gonads he had before she came in. I'm finding a lot of holy cards: intercessions to St. Jude, St. Anthony, and saints no one ever heard of, like St. Radbod.

Well, we have a remodeled bathroom. A new tub and surround, new sink, new toilet, new flooring, new lighting, and a (non-loadbearing) wall was cut in half to permit light to flood the toilet area. The room was repainted in a very light gray-blue and white and a mirroed medicine cabinet was attached to wall by the door, reflecting more light back into the room. The back of the door was painted white. All paints were gloss or semi-gloss exterior because of the high moisture content of a bathroom. The ceiling fan was refurbished and reinstalled. It really, really looks nice. Now we'll have to remodel the rest of the joint so that it looks as good as the bathroom.

Have you heard, Rap? Chongo wants to be stuffed and put on exhibit in a glass case after he dies, like that Utilitarian Philosophy guy, whatever the heck his name was....(?)

He figures it would serve as an inspiration to future generations.

Maybe they could even supply his stuffed body with power so he could beat cymbals and screech every hour on the hour like the "Jolly Chimp" toy does.

It would become a place of national pilgrimage...sort of like the Lincoln Memorial. Great idea, eh?

Jeremy Bentham also thought that corpses should be stuffed and used as light poles, hat racks, and other useful objects. Chong' would make a good hatrack if s/he were taller and didn't attract fleas.

Druther do that, Amos, than my first idea: have portions of my ashes mailed to various random people around the world with a note about how much I treasured their friendship and wanted them to have something to remember it by. Kinda like a Joe Hill, but to strangers.

Many's the time in my youth I hauled ashes. We had a coal-fired furnace, first lumps and then a stoker, and I'd shake my ashes and haul them out. Yes, I even scattered them in the driveway during the winter to prevent slipping on the ice.

So I'm an experienced ash hauler and scatterer. Feel free to call for my services anytime -- special cut-rate prices for MOABites.

I, too, was born into the coal-scuttle age, and hauled cold clinkers in grocery bags out onto a frozen driveway. We changed to oil-heat and electric kitchen in the 50's, which was probably for the best as far as my lumbago is concerned.

We changed from coal to gas forced air in 1968; in 1969 the old coal bin was converted into a darkroom.

So you see, Amos, my ash hauling and scattering experience is far more recent than yours.

Before we reach another landmark number, one which will create a situation in which every second number is an odd number, I feel that this should be posted. It is so very sad, so very tragic, and so well summed up in the last line.

Lament on the Death of Willie
       by Julie A. Moore

Willie had a purple monkey climbing on a yellow stick,
And when he sucked the paint all off it made him deathly sick;
And in his latest hours he clasped that monkey in his hand,
And bade good-bye to earth and went into a better land.

Oh! no more he'll shoot his sister with his little wooden gun;
And no more he'll twist the pussy's tail and make her yowl, for fun.
The pussy's tail now stands out straight; the gun is laid aside;
The monkey doesn't jump around since little Willie died.

You are so deft at slippery talk, dear Sir, that politics is the only corridor in which you will ever feel at home; to turn the embarrassment of slow adaptation into a virtue by quick-tongued semantic tomfoolery is the ability sine qua non of the true politician. Failing that, you could try used car sales. "Those rust marks on the valve springs, Madam, are NOT a flaw--they bear testament to the fact that the car was never driven over 45 miles an hour!"

Mwahahaha. A Daniel, I say! A Daniel!

When one first reads that ditty it sounds like the "he" sucking paint off the stick is the monkey. That does make more sense.

Little Willie, feeling swell
Pushed his sister in the well
Said his mother, drawing water
"It's mighty tough to raise a daughter."

Down into the well
Which the plumber built her
Aunt Eliza fell.
We must buy a filter.

I follow TED all the time Amos -- saw that when it first came out. I agree with your assessment.

Willie, with a taste for gore,
Nailed his sister to the floor.
Mother said, with humor quaint,
"Careful, Will, don't spoil the paint."
