Amazing! Arthur Findlay Scott refers to the ancient ruins in exactly the same language, claiming it as an ancient Anglo-Saxon inscription. Talk about COINCIDENCE!! Appropriately enough the original title of your self-reflective prosody is entitled "The Ruin". 'T was ever thus...the ruined walls, the soul-less streets, the broken towers and the unpeopled byways, all are legends in their own minds, as they sleep the world by, glorying only in what is nevermore to be.

I am imaginary, but none can make me go away.

Wondrous is this Rapaire;
given hence by fate,
his mind undecayed;
his the work
of a giant mind.

Roofs are fallen,
ruined are the towers,
despoiled are the towers
of the minds of others;
frost is on their cement,
broken are the roofs,
cut away, fallen,
undermined by age.

But his grasp of reality,
stout grip of the real,
holds his mighty mind,
his precious thoughts,
till a thousand generations
of people have died.

Well, see, where do you draw the line? LH's playmates are admittedly imaginary, while you keep insisting your unreal identity is who you really are!! Are you your OWN imaginary playmate? How does that work? Enquiring minds want to know...

But you didn't apologize to ME. Therefore I won't think of you for a while and so you won't exist.

Enjoy your non-existence...while it lasts.

I am abashed and rebuked by Science:

"TORONTO?All kids like to use their imagination, and many play fantasy games where they pretend to be characters in a made-up world. Some children persist in building especially elaborate imaginary worlds, with impressive depth in terms of histories, taxonomies, language and maps. This detailed, sustained "world play" may be an early marker of broad, general creativity (as opposed to creative excellence in one field such as music), according to two professors from Michigan State University.

Robert and Michele Root-Bernstein?he's a physiologist and she's in the theater department, and both are part of an interdisciplinary group studying creativity?explained the importance of recognizing the breadth of creativity in children yesterday in a symposium here at the annual meeting of the American Psychological Association. When studying creativity, they explained, most scientists have traditionally focused on a person's main creative endeavor?Mozart's music or Picasso's art, for example. The truth is, however, that most highly creative people are polymaths?they enjoy and excel at a range of challenging activities. For instance, in a survey of scientists at all levels of achievement, the Root-Bernsteins found that only about one sixth report engaging in a secondary activity of an artistic or creative nature, such as painting or writing non-scientific prose. In contrast, nearly all Nobel Prize winners in science have at least one other creative activity that they pursue seriously. Creative breadth, the Root-Bernsteins argue, is an important but understudied component of genius.

For instance, one unanswered question in the science of creativity is how to spot early signs of such polymathy in children. The Root-Bernsteins may have found an answer in world play?their early data indicate a correlation between kids who delve into such rich imaginary worlds and those who grow up to be highly successful adults. They compared self-reports of childhood play among 262 Michigan State University undergrads and among 105 MacArthur fellows (recipients of the "genius award," as it is commonly known?a large sum of money given by the MacArthur Foundation to highly unique, creative individuals in various fields). They found that the incidence of world play was about double in the MacArthur fellows: 5-26 percent had engaged in world play as children or adolescents, whereas 3-12 percent of the MSU students had. The large ranges reflect the degree of stringency applied to the criteria?the higher number includes ambiguous cases that may or may not have been true world play.

Although the data are preliminary, the Root-Bernsteins may have illuminated an avenue for further research into creative breadth. "World play is one of the only early indicators of creative breadth, and also one of the only early predictors of later adult creativity," they said, during their joint presentation."

I must recant again and withdraw all the snarky remarks I have made about Little Hawk's imaginary worlds, and his imaginary playmates, with profuse apologies. I also withdraw all my criticisms of religion, the Roman Catholic Church, Walt Disney Studios, Star Wars, and other worlds of imaginary characters. How did someone as sub-literate as thee ever rise to suchheights of responsibility, Rapaire? To quibble with such an ordinary practice as expanding a contraction when referring to its content is beyond small minded!! It is shockingly un-erudite and woefully counter-articulate of you. I besmirch your repute and cast shame and also fie.

Amos has completely lost whatever it he once had. The word "us" does not appear anywhere in LH's post (quoted in full above). Yes, there is a shortened form implied in the word "Let's", but most people would have written, "'s" instead of "us".

Poor Amos. I knew him, Bee-Dubya. A fellow of infinite jest. He has peed upon my leg a thousand times....

Then, sir, you have no grounds for whining about BWL; the remedy to your karmic reversals is entirely in your own hands.

In addition I use polynomial vector differentiation to defuse mis-ownership, and quantum disentanglement to undo bleed-through from unwanted co-creation. Plus a few other kit tools of a very obscure nature.

I have concluded that the cancellation of the soap opera "Guiding Light" is part of the government's Economic Stimulus Plan. You see, millions of housewives watched "Guiding Light" as they ironed their laundry. Without "Guiding Light" to guide them through their ironing drudgery, all that laundry won't get ironed, so they'll have to pile it into their minivans and haul it down to the cleaners. While they're out, they'll probably stop for lunch somewhere and maybe go to a movie. In total, each housewife will contribute well over $100.00 to the economy in a single afternoon, just by virtue of the cancellation of that single soap opera!

Just imagine what great shape our economy would be in if they did away with television all together!

Sometime around 3:17 EDT tomorrow, according to my calculations

According to mine this requires direct violation of the FTL limit, Rapaire, which would mean your calculations depend on translating all the molecules of matter between here and there into qubits. Such a transformation would probably mean the collision would pass harmlessly.

I think a few billion years is a more likely estimate. Galaxies are in fact very diffuse?the nearest star to the Sun is in fact almost thirty million solar diameters away from the Earth. (If the sun were scaled to the size of an American quarter, 24.26 mm (0.955 in), the next closest quarter/star would be 700 km [475 miles] away.) If the theory is correct, the stars and gas contained in Andromeda will be visible to a naked-eye viewer in approximately 2 billion years.[4] If the collision occurs, the galaxies will likely merge into one larger galaxy.

While it is known that the Andromeda galaxy is getting closer to the Milky Way by about 120 km/s, there is no way to tell whether it is going to collide or miss. The best indirect estimates of the transverse velocity indicate that it is less than 100 km/s. This suggests that the dark matter halos, although possibly not the actual disks, of the galaxies will collide.

I've done done it. You have to know yourself, really know yourself, and them understand and embrace The All. This permits you to leave the body and material things because they become immaterial.

The problem is that you might not at all like what you find. For example, the first time I did it I found my leg being peed on by a wiener dog. I knew at once that this was a test, of course, but by then it was too late: I had to go wash dachsypee out of my pants legs. But anyone can achieve it: embrace the Valkyries, let them take you with them, and know that beyond Ragnarok lies True Nirvana, where you can fight, feast, drink, and wench (or man) to your heart's content, knowing that if you are slain you'll be alive again because you are one of Kali's soldiers and that you are marching with the One-Eyed One who has the two ravens to guide him.

"We're all gonna die!!!!!!" (a popular theme in Hollywood disaster films)

So why should I worry? I've already died so many times already. ;-) If Earth proves uninhabitable, and if I have not yet evolved sufficiently at that point to avoid being drawn back into bodily existence by my various unsatisfied desires and accumulated karma...well, then, I'll just reincarnate on some other suitable planet in some other star system.

A cinch really. As easy as falling off a log. What's not easy is getting past that stage entirely. Trust me. It ain't easy, and few have done it.

From Wikipedia:

The Sun is expected to become a red giant in approximately five billion years. It is calculated that the Sun will become sufficiently large to engulf the current orbits of the solar system's inner planets, up to Earth, and its radius will expand to a minimum of 200 times its current value. The Sun will lose a significant fraction of its mass in the process of becoming a red giant, and there is a chance that Mars and all the outer planets will escape as their resulting orbits will widen. Mercury and most likely Venus will have been swallowed by sun's outer layer at this time. Earth's fate is less clear. Earth could technically achieve a widening of its orbit and could potentially maintain a sufficiently high angular velocity to keep it from becoming engulfed. In order to do so, its orbit needs to increase to between 1.3 AU (190,000,000 km) and 1.7 AU (250,000,000 km). However the results of studies announced in 2008 show that due to tidal interaction between sun and Earth, Earth would actually fall back into a lower orbit, and get engulfed and incorporated inside the sun before the sun reaches its largest size, despite the sun losing about 38% of its mass. Before this happens, Earth's biosphere will have long been destroyed by the Sun's steady increase in brightness as its hydrogen supply dwindles and its core contracts, even before the transition to a Red Giant. After just over 1 billion years, the extra solar energy input will cause Earth's oceans to evaporate and the hydrogen from the water to be lost permanently to space, with total loss of water by 3 billion years. Earth's atmosphere and lithosphere will become like that of Venus. Over another billion years, most of the atmosphere will get lost in space as well; ultimately leaving Earth as a desiccated, dead planet with a surface of molten rock.

Just thought I'd try an' cheer y'all up a bit....
