Amos, don't you mean that "a breeding frenzy is a terrible thing to wasebi? Back when I was in college there were those sorts of frenzies, but nobody thought of using wasebi. Apple butter, honey, ice cream, homemade jelly, and even peanut butter, but not wasebi. Of course, those were far more innocent days.

YOu have to be careful though with freds, becuae if the freds population drops too much then they will be hit with a breeding frenzy. And if the frenzy hits too hard there is the possibility of breaking it. a broken frenzy is not a good thing.

We send an emissary to contact these "quilters" but sheithe was so sickened by what itheshe saw that heitshe involuntarily terminated sheheit's existence.

How can you supposedly civilised beings contenance such behavior? We are quite seriously thinking of notifying the Intergalactic Council of Propriety and asking them to terminate your planet.

Of COURSE you can't confirm, silly! Only a bishop can confirm, or someone to whom the bishop has delegated the power to confirm. Just check with your local priest and he'll tell you. He might even be able to confirm.

I am sure you are not surprised to hear I cannot conform, but neither can I confirm.

Happy now? Honestly, the trouble you put me through....

Hey, MOM, we have the strangest weather here in Tejas! It has been very cold for several days, and today I dressed in my layers again and discovered on my way out to the Sunday paper that this morning early it is warmer that it was in the middle of the afternoon yesterday! Our warm air has decided to return, at least for a while!

I can neither conform nor deny, good Rapaire as to do so might reveal the identity of the Lady in Red, thus causing embarrassment in the very highest circles of scientific acclaim.

Amos, that's the happiest song I've heard since, well since the last one. How kind of the gentleman! Might I assume that he afterwards took her under his wing and cared for her, eventually sent her to a good school, and that she became a physician or scientist and won the Nobel Prize?

Out shopping for sleep, Stilly.

Two people, if both of them are having trouble sleeping properly, shound not share a bed, as a) blame the other for you lack of sleep, which does no good, and b) both of you are too tired to make use of it.

'Twas a cold winter's evening
The boys were all leaving,
And Reilly was closing the bar.

And he turned and he said,
To the lady in red,
"Miss, get out. You can't stay where you are!"

She shed a sad tear
In her bucket of beer
As she thought of the cold night ahead

When a gentleman dapper
Stepped out from the crapper
And these were the words that he said:

"Her mother never told her
All the things that a young girl should know
About the ways of college men,
And how they come and go.
Her mother never told her,
And life has left a sad scar.
Remember your mothers,
And your sisters, boys!
And let her sleep under the bar!"

...See? They don't ALL have unhappy endings.

Quiet afternoon around the house, MOM. Are all of the other kids out shopping? I've been puttering around the house, myself, and I have a loaf of bread rising right now. Smells wonderful!

Quilters may be employed as a psyclogical warefare weapon, if the situation warrents such serious intervention, and all standard measures, which are detailed in seperate publications 'Hearts and minds in Banana Republics' and 'Police state 101, Big black cars for beginners'

No detailed accounts of their function remains intact, and all the copies so far found have been written in either the suviviors own blood, or an intricate cross-stitch upon the weapon, dependant upon the intial inclination of the targetIt generally consists of a variation on the theme of 'The natter, the endless inanne natter..'

From the F.A.I.G.A.* field handbook

*The secret police so secret you've not heard of them. You can guess what it stands for, but I wouldn't want to be you if you get it right...

Aw, God, I can't take it anymore.

I swear, I'm gonna do something desperate. So depressed by Annie and the Babes in the Woods and the poor child whose father wouldn't come home from the saloon. And the Little Match Girl. And that poor Little Mermaid, forever longing for the sea to which she can never return.

I just can't take it anymore I tell you!

I think I'll have a dozen quilters over today. That will end it all.

Farewell, cruel world! Until we meet again.

Aw, I love a gushingly sad poem every now and then.

The Babes in the Wood

My dear, do you know,
How a long time ago,
   Two poor little children,
Whose names I don't know,
Were stolen away
On a fine summer's day,
   And left in a wood,
As I've heard people say.

Among the trees high
Beneath the blue sky
   They plucked the bright flowers
And watched the birds fly;
Then on blackberries fed,
And strawberries red,
   And when they were weary
'We'll go home,' they said.

And when it was night
So sad was their plight,
   The sun it went down,
And the moon gave no light.
They sobbed and they sighed
And they bitterly cried,
   And long before morning
They lay down and died.

And when they were dead
The robins so red
   Brought strawberry leaves
And over them spread;
And all the day long,
The green branches among,
   They'd prettily whistle
And this was their song?
'Poor babes in the wood!
Sweet babes in the wood!
   Oh the sad fate of
The babes in the wood!'

We're the new kind of youth
For government like grandpa had
We're Georgie's boys....

No college days with Socrates or Plato
And you're Georgie's boys.
Just organize parades for the abolishment of NATO and the rest
The Entire West!
So let's go back to the days when men were men
And fight the First World War all over again....

We're the bright young men

I would like to pause in the day's occupation and reflect, in song, one the meaning of this time of year:

Alone in the world was poor little Anne
As sweet a young child as you'd find
Her parents had gone to their final reward
Leaving their baby behind

Did you hear this poor little child
Was only nine years of age
When mother and dad went away
Still she bravely worked
At the one thing she knew
To earn a few pennies a day

She made artificial flowers, artificial flowers
Flowers for ladies of fashion to wear
She made artificial flowers, artificial flowers
Fashioned from Annie's despair

With papers and shears, with wire and wax
She made up each tulip and mum
As snow flakes drifted in to her tenement room
Her baby little fingers grew numb

From artificial flowers, those artificial flowers
Flowers for ladies of high fashion to wear
She made artificial flowers, artificial flowers
Made from Annie's despair

And they found little Annie all covered with ice
Still clutching her poor frozen shears
Amidst all the blossoms, she had fashioned by hand
And watered with all her young tears

There must be a heaven where little Annie can play
In heavenly gardens and bowers
And instead of halo, she'll wear round her head
A garland of genuine flowers

No more artificial flowers, artificial flowers
Flowers for ladies of society to wear
Those artificial flowers, artificial flowers
Fashioned from Annies
Fashioned from Annies despair.

I am pleased to announce that the pre-Christmas retail advertising industry has finally identified their key demographic -- the dicktard segment, with associated noobs, fuckwits, dong-brains, dweebs, and other aspects of moronic consumerism.

The details on this revelation can be found in this article in the Onion, the most reliable source of news-through-irony in the world, next to Jon Stewart.

Well, Amos, I don't want to disclose too many of the trade secret details, so I will answer your query with a question:

Have you ever heard, seen, or in any way dealt with a politician who wasn't fecally impacted?

Yes, I know: fishooks have been tried, but with little or no success.

You can, I'm certain, figure it out from there!

I have an idea which will make me a multi-mega-super billionaire. And I am going to let all the MOABites have first chance at the IPO.

As I'm sure you know, a LOT of engineering goes into the making of toilet paper. It must be strong and absorbent, but soft and break down easily when wet (but not TOO soon!). Charmin and all sorts of TP companies have spent millions and millions of US dollars engineering today's toilet paper.

But I have come up with tomorrow's toilet paper. By analyzing the uses to which toilet paper is put (apart from its primary use, of course), I have found that it is also use for nose blowing, stopping minor bleeding, blotting lipstick and other things, and even to stop up bullet and other holes.

Velcro, as I certain you're aware, consists of two parts: the hooks and the loops (or velvety part). What I propose to do is to manufacture a toilet paper which uses the technology of the Velcro hooks. Not only will this be more cleansing, but it will facilitate all those "other" uses to which people put toilet paper.

Precisely HOW this will be accomplished is still a well-guarded trade secret, but I can assure you that there is a lot in this idea.

If you'd like in "on the ground floor," just let me know.

There is a wonderful part of town, with a heavy population of young professionals. It's stuffed with florists, contempory jewlers, galleries of various sorts, high class butchers, bakers, cheesemongers etc, and three chocolatiers. And many, many bookshops. I just spend a few hours sorting christams.

As for 'chocolate' with emulsifiers etc, I use continential dark chocolate for cooking, let alone gifts or for myself. There are certain standards that cannot be allowed to slip! I got dark (65-75% cocoa) chocolate with rosemary, some with orange oil and peel, and some with raspberry, and a few other bits, like some honeycomb, most of which I've already sent off to Aberdeen.
