Or as we used to say (with spelling corrections):

너는 현대 사회의 아름다움을 있있다? 나는 다각 언어안에 무지할 수 있는다.

Kissing, my old buddy!! Really I did not know that you spoke French!! Bloody well!!

Babel Fish comes up with a mildly amusing version. . .

This translates as

To the basement, my old co-pain! I have no point in saving your clothing who has French pearls. You're a good cow!

Of course, this translation doesn't take into account the French idioms, nuances, metaphors, hyperboles, verbs, nouns or body language so it might not be quite exact.

*chortle* you have to admire a language in which "cow-most" is the equivilant of "bloody good"

Anything sounds classier in French

True enough (I mean 'vraiment!')

Merde! or Sacre Blue! sound so much better then

Holy Shit! or F*ck!

much much classier - even if basically the same sentiment.

Anything sounds classier in French:

Une Chanson De Noël L'ol gai 'Saint Nicholas,
se penchent votre oreille de cette façon!
Vous ne dites pas à une âme simple
ce que je vais dire:
La veille de Noël viendra bientôt;
maintenant, vous gros vieux chuchotement d'homme
ce que vous m'apporterez;

Quand l'horloge sonne douze,

comment partir furtivement loin

Dear Mister Paire:

My client wishes to advise you of the following relevant information regarding your recent threat to him contained in your recent post on this thread.

1. He does not now, nor has he ever, sucked soap in any way which would qualify for your derogatory definition of him as "soap-sucking".

2. Driving on freeways in an inherent responsibility for all active members of modern Western civilization in reach of an urban center.

You posted that bit on Zwicky KNOWING that I would spend too much time reading and following the links when I had that letter from the County Prosecutor to deal with! Now I'm behind and it's all YOUR FAULT!!!

I'll have my people contact your people to work out an equitable solution. Possibly you can return the time I spent by lopping it off the top of your lifespan.

You're right. I carefully constructed it though, to not use any vowels at all. And in rhyming couplets.

I was only dropping in some letters to the Royal Society, and the Germans only wanted to sell me sausages, so I don't really move in those circles. I didn't even get an invitation to on of the Buckingham Palace garden parties, although the family did a few years ago.

I don't know which link I used. Probabaly both....

You should probably be aware of morphological analysis before you go any further into the future.

"Morphological analysis is a method for rigorously structuring and investigating the total set of relationships in inherently non-quantifiable socio-technical problem complexes (variously
called "wicked problems" and "social messes"1).

The method is carried out by developing a discrete parameter space of the problem complex to be investigated, and defining relationships between the parameters on the basis of internal consistency.

Such an internally linked parameter space is called a morphological field. With proper computer support, a morphological field can be treated as an inference model.

Morphological analysis can be employed for:

· developing scenarios and scenario modeling laboratories;
· developing strategy alternatives;
· analyzing risks;
· relating means and ends in complex policy spaces;
· developing models for positional or stakeholder analysis;
· evaluating organizational structures for different tasks;
· presenting highly complex relationships in the form of comprehensible, visual models.

MA is carried out in small subject specialist groups with the strong facilitation of practiced morphologists."

from an Article for the UN University Millennium Project:
Futures Research Methodology Series, and the Swedish Morphological Society.

Just in case, you know...

Wow! Google is offering simultaneously a game called "Feeding Frenzy," and the opportunity to purchase a Seersucker Dress! No doubt you can wear this to play the game. I think Google is doing a pretty darned good job at upholding it's end of the BS around here.

Now, Bunn, I have a question for you. When you sent MOM back to the top, did you select the upper or the lower link to this thread? Curious MOABites want to know. . .

A Christmas song from my youth. It still brings tears to my ears.

A Christmas Song

Jolly ol' Saint Nicholas,
lean your ear this way!
Don't you tell a single soul
what I'm going to say:
Christmas Eve is coming soon;
now, you fat old man
Whisper what you'll bring to me;
while I tell you what I can.

When the clock is striking twelve,
and I'm fast asleep
Down the chimney, you will come
with your bag, you creep
All our money you will find
Inside Daddy's desk,
the middle drawer don't lock so good,
Please don't make a mess.

Dad will be behind the door,
Ma will be in bed
Dad says if you creep in there,
he'll fill you full of lead.
I'll leave it up to you, dear man
how to sneak away
'Cause if you're found in my room again
there'll be Hell to pay.

You hang around Royal Society? What's Liz like? Is Chucky as dumb as I think he is? And Andy? How's Phil doing these days? I guess Bill and Eddy have grown some, huh?

Wow. I didn't know you moved in those circles...unless...sorry. I forgot.

I'm not up on the Scots. Whose in charge there at the moment? Last one I knew about was James VI, but that was back a while.

My friends and I avoided those collegiate breeding frenzies. Our lady friends and ourselves might engage in sipping an ice cream soda from the same glass (but with separate straws, of course!), but that was as far as it went. Ah, those wild and wacky days of white bucks, pink shirts, poodle skirts, and blouses with Peter Pan collars! And if you'll give me a minute I'll remember what the girls wore, too.

I think you mean wasabi: "A spice that comes from a knobby green root of the Japanese plant wasbia japonica. A traditional condiment served with Japanese sushi and sashimi. It has the same warming or stinging nasal sensation as horseradish."

A breeding frenzy based on wasabi would be wasted, indeed.

I can't even imagine a feeding frenzy in the presence of wasabi.

Amos, don't you mean that "a breeding frenzy is a terrible thing to wasebi? Back when I was in college there were those sorts of frenzies, but nobody thought of using wasebi. Apple butter, honey, ice cream, homemade jelly, and even peanut butter, but not wasebi. Of course, those were far more innocent days.

YOu have to be careful though with freds, becuae if the freds population drops too much then they will be hit with a breeding frenzy. And if the frenzy hits too hard there is the possibility of breaking it. a broken frenzy is not a good thing.

How can you supposedly civilised beings contenance such behavior? We are quite seriously thinking of notifying the Intergalactic Council of Propriety and asking them to terminate your planet.

Out shopping for sleep, Stilly.

Two people, if both of them are having trouble sleeping properly, shound not share a bed, as a) blame the other for you lack of sleep, which does no good, and b) both of you are too tired to make use of it.

'Twas a cold winter's evening
The boys were all leaving,
And Reilly was closing the bar.

And he turned and he said,
To the lady in red,
"Miss, get out. You can't stay where you are!"

She shed a sad tear
In her bucket of beer
As she thought of the cold night ahead

When a gentleman dapper
Stepped out from the crapper
And these were the words that he said:

"Her mother never told her
All the things that a young girl should know
About the ways of college men,
And how they come and go.
Her mother never told her,
And life has left a sad scar.
Remember your mothers,
And your sisters, boys!
And let her sleep under the bar!"

...See? They don't ALL have unhappy endings.
