I don't know what that Holman jive is about. It should have read "Ad hominem slurs".

Spent all day yesterday putting the garage back tor ights--no, that was Monday. The washing machine repairman comes tomorrow morning., Let us hope it is an easy fixup.

"Bullshit is always bullshit." Hmmm. Yes, But there are categories of bullshit. No? Certainly inane bullshit is allowable. I mean, the obviously bullshit bullshit is surely intentionally so inane as to be obviously bullshit.

I shit you not.

Bullshit is always bullshit. But when it is added with vitriolic and Holman him slurs it becomes negative bullshit. One might say "en-BS". This damages The hearts and minds of all who participate.

Amos put on FB a picture of his dog at the end of a trail of blood. I think the dog ate whoever made the blood trail.

Heave and haul!
Lift a pawl!
Bring our Mom to the top of the fall.
Round she goes
Falling low,
Down again to the depths below.
Shift her up!
Lift a cup!
A son of Mom is a bitter pup!
Heave, heave and haul!

Just 'cuz I don't believe in snow does not mean I don't suffer some. We had to call an emergency plumber last night and in order he had to replace a broken faucet from the hot water tank to the washing mac hine, and the copper piping supporting it, and the drain pipe for the washing machine into the waste line in the garage and then the waste line itself.

So today I had to rebuild the timber behind the faucets, cut a drywall section to match the part that had been torn out, replaster in two coats, move everything out of the garage and scrub the whole area down to get rid of the greasy grime from the old pipes, move everything back in and reconnect the washing machine only to discover it had an internal leak on top of it all.

It has been a one-goddamn-thing after another sort of day.

Fuggit.

I and Pat are traveling. In SLC right now and flying to Chicago and NW Indiana early tomorrow! I haven't said anything earlier because, well, who knew what might happen?

If that's the case, such a unit wouldn't last in Texas because the minerals are bigger in Texas.

Speaking of big in Texas, and beyond... Read the blurb below the viewing window first.

If you have on-demand be sure you have soft water and as few minerals in it as possible. Otherwise you'll be replacing it every few years and the mineral deposits build up to the point where the unit fails. At least, that's the experience out here in The Wild West.

Hoping for a little left over heat, eh? If my hot water tank dies again I'm putting in an on-demand system. I feel sure that the cost of said unit will allow the dollars I would save be an added factor for the plumbers fee - so it will be a wash. But it will take less space and be much more efficient.

'Tis 17F outside and it's going to drop 17 degrees before the sun come up again, if it does. Cold. Snow. Snow. Cold. A neighbor left an old hot water heater at the curb and dogs were lined up for a hundred yards hoping to get warm.

Took my furnace near three hours to get the house up to foreskin temp this AM. Shant shut it off tonight. I didn't run the new heat pump, cause I am a scaredy-cat, until the temp got above 0C in late afternoon.

Piss off, A? Some day, I'll take yer advice and move in next door to you if you keep that shit up. That'll be yer reward for the snarky weather vs intelligence comments.

No, Amos. I remember them. I remember far, far, far too many things. I am weighed down by memories, not all good. It is a heavy weight to bear, not to be able to forget the bad things and keep only the good in memory still green. I remember my littlest brother, Herman, gaily skipping on the sidewalk when he was eaten by a allosaurus. We missed him at dinner, but the fricasseed allosaurus was quite tasty.

I got his baseball mitt.

Today on facebook Amos used a great word that for some reason I have never yet met: stunod. Great word, one I'll use a few times to "make it my own," as a grade school teacher used to say about building one's vocabulary. Use it or use it.

And a bonus, this is what Wikipedia comes up with: anagrams.

donuts
stound

Every year my friends to the North and East start manifesting signs of low-grade subclinical insanity, posting thermometer readings and a lot of blather about some imaginary visitation from above they call "snow". This epidemic of hivernal madness seems to affect their smartphones and cameras as well, throwing the white-balance chip all to hell. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why. Sunspots, mayhap?

It was a lovely day in Los Angeles today and Barky and I went around having father-and-son time to our hearts' content. I walked the dog tonight, wearing a light jacket to accommodate the coolness of November evenings, but the skies were clear and the evenings winds were balmy.

The vehicle is okay, gnu. It gets me where I need to go, but doesn't carry much cargo at any given time. It holds me and three dogs if an emergency arises, that is all that matters.

We might be seeing some kind of frozen precipitation dusting the landscape on Sunday, according to our forecasters. I could use a long weekend if it would snow just enough to close everything Monday morning. About 1/4" is all it takes for North Texas to shut down. Pathetic, isn't it?

So do I, except for the generator. Some few months ago I found a bucket of food, freeze dried and sealed in nitrogen, enough to last two people for 3 days. It was USD 50, so I bought it. The food is good until 2032, but I probably won't be. I also have Sawyer water filters in the house and cars, a larger capacity one for the house -- these are back-flushable and good for a LOT of gallons.

You can also kill viruses and bacteria in water if you put the clearest water you have in clear plastic soda/water/whatever bottles (I believe they are supposed to be marked at "1" plastics). Put these in bright sunlight for several hours, or three hours on a reflective material. UV kills the bad stuff -- this is being used in remote African villages to give them clean drinking water and it's a LOT cheaper than other ways.

Snowin a banshee here for the last eight hours. Must be 2" on the roof. The wind is whipping it at just over straight down. But, I have enough in stock for just such a megastorm : two years of provisions for two people, gas to run the 6500w generator feeding Mum's emergency panel for a week, firewood for my house for a month, water for a month (not including snow), and, well, let's just say that I am a Boy Sprout. And, if anarchy reigns during the ensuing chaos, I have the necessary quip to save harmless those that I love and hold dear.

Truck stop bears don't make no nevermind a this here good ol boy. As is said... I'm loaded fer bear.

Unfortunately, my only recourse when a lady of questionable mental acuity responds to my advert by telephone at 22:50h, thereby waking me up, and becomes rude when I inform her that the advertisement clearly states "before 6PM" and also that I will return her call on the morrow, is to return said call at 04:50h, whereupon she understands exactly how rude it is to waken a person at an obviously inappropriate time of day to enquire about the bottom line price for a truly ugly fleece blanet advertised for the price of $5. BTW... I thereupon decided to accept the bid from the Red Cross and immediately deleted the advert. Perhaps I should have better known the "target market" for a blanket with two Chinese Virginia White Tailed Deer dyed upon it might be a tad on the wild side?

Wanna buy a truck?

Say... that minds me... how's your weehicle, SRS?

Try to explain to an 88 year old Mum that baking one potatoe in an electric heated oven doesn't cost even a penny in cold weather. Can't. So I cooked one anyway. And she was surprised by the fresh fried shrooms... made me feel good when she was delighted. I just wish she could get over the baked spud. Sigh.

Atilly, John Kerry was awarded the Silver Star. Back in the '60s he left it on the steps of the Pentagon during an Anti-War protest and THAT is why he was railroaded by the "Swiftboat Veterans For Truth." Now take Bob Kerrey.... Or look at the hatchet jobs done on Max Cleland and John McCain. Or the attempted hatchet job on Tammy Duckworth.

Rap, I think you've touched on the source of my concern. Look at the whole George W. Bush demeanor, suggesting that if you didn't support his war on Afghanistan and then in Iraq you weren't patriotic - many of those flag wavers were two-faced. And then when Kerry was slammed by the Swift Boaters, the way a legitimate vet (and possible war hero? I don't remember beyond purple hearts) was treated - that turns ones' stomach.

I'll put the flags that draped my father's and my father-in-law's caskets and my few ribbons in the window today.

My problem is the number of people who wave the flag and praise the veterans and the active military but neither they nor their descendants can find a way to perform military service. Among these are Mitch McConnell, Harry Reid, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Neill, Rush Limbaugh, and Rand Paul. And I shouldn't forget Anne Coulter, Sarah Palin (and her family), Dianne Feinstein, and a bunch of others. The military would perhaps have taken any of these people, maybe. But I do so wish they'd stop shooting off their mouths about things they know nothing about....

I don't go for all of the flag waving and hyper patriotic patter that surfaces this time of year. It feels fake, somehow. Too over the top. I just mentioned the dates because they do seem ironic. Dad rarely spoke of his military service, Mom spoke about it frequently.
