I don't like getting those little mole hairs in my teeth.

Are you mixing your mole with guacamole (different)? Aguacate with guacamole (the same)?

I make guacamole in big batches and freeze the extra in ice cube trays. I made a really good batch this week so picked up some more avocados to make more this weekend. My picky eater son will eat guacamole though try to get him to eat other green stuff and he mostly shudders.

The Switch will be flipped in a few minutes. We're viewing via a converter box, so I expect no changes, but maybe the digital signal might be a little stronger. That would be nice for a few of these channels.

you can make moles from avacados though - which is what guacamole means!

6x10^23 makes a nice sauce

Yes, give your thanks to Juan Jesus Escobar Felipe Renaldo de Vasconcelos y Calderon. Without him you would now be subsisting on cucarachas in a filthy hole in Ciudad Juarez.

That's the phone number of the Mexican lawyer who got you out of jail in Cuernevaca, man. Your Abogado's Number was all that stood between you and an intimate relationship with some unpleasant Aztecas.

Hi Mom! Just got back from grocery shopping. I was gonna get some avocados, but wasn't sure how many to buy. I seem to have forgotten the value of Avocado's Number.

I remember it has something to do with a mole, which is sorta weird since moles don't eat avocados.

Personally, I find Winona Ryder hard to ignore. And dachshunds.

I knew you guys would do that. But I'm used to it. Being ignored is part of my way of life. Always has been. When I was a itty-bitty baby my momma would rock me in the cradle and then forget me for three or four weeks. I could barely crawl out and get something to eat, and I gotta tell ya, boll weevils aren't very filling. You have to get a lot of them, even as a itty-bitty baby, to have a decent meal. And did you even fight with a mole over a worm to eat? Moles are nasty, evil creatures and fight dirty. But eventually my momma would remember me and come back and rock me in the cradle some more and then ignore me some more. Eventually I grew a little and she found it hard to ignore a guy who was six feet two inches. I didn't fit in my little cradle anymore, so she made me get my pit boots on and go work in the coal pits until I earned enough money so I had a real bed. This was fine with me, but it was disconcerting to have her ask who I was every evening when I came home, or call "HEY! IT'S TIME TO GET UP! AND BRING WHAT'S HIS NAME, TOO!"   So that's okay. Go on and ignore me. I'm used to it. Ignored and forgotten, my memory faded from the World's conscious like the medals that I wear. It's fine. I'll go back to work, back to where it's dark as a dungeon and damp as the dew. I don't mind a bit, even though the dangers are many and the pleasures are few, because I owe my soul to the company store.

Ah, but it appears they may be a single subject, or at least closely correlated subjects in understanding the evolution of the brain and consciousness of self.

Mirrors in the Brain, How Our Minds Share Actions, Emotions and Experience has been highly recommended to me by a psychiatrist with whom I work. I'll be ordering it and reading it soon. He says the research is quite brilliant, but they do not quite connect all the dots.

He is a rather noted psychoanalytical psychiatrist with a strong interest in neuroscience (a rather uncommon combination), and has been invited to write a paper that moves toward connecting the dots.

Apparently the parts of the brain involved with sophisticated tool making have to do with fine motor skills and language. Both involve understanding of the use of symbols. Use of symbols suggests the ability to distinguish between self and others, and it all is somehow wrapped up with mirror neurons.

I'm gonna go edumacate myself on it.

Both Mmario and Henry are spared for the time being, and I'd like to invite all ya'll to my house Saturday night for a family reunion and cookout. Sweet Sister sent me a surprise shipment of assorted steaks and stuffed chicken breasts from Omaha Steaks, only she put the wrong street address on it so they arrived a day late, still cold, but thawed, all but the New York strip steaks and 4 of the fillets, which were on the bottom, right up against the dry ice before it completely dissapated.

Ya'll come!   Greek Potato Salad and garlic roasted asparagus as sides, along with a salad from my garden, and peach cobbler for dessert.

I have to say there is something deeply touching, janie, about the image of you crawling around the scuppers of the clinic with a flashlight looking for a lady Hercules beetle so Henry will be content in love. An example of trans-species tendresse and savoir-faire beyond the call of duty. Sniff....

A barded bard, singing the castrato part, is scarcely meet for so fine a low-tenor voice. Have pity.

Remember, the females don't have horns, I think. So they may not be as horny as Henry.

We have established that Henry likes grapes.

We still haven't found a girfriend for him. It may take a while. I may have to go to the clinic after dark and look around under the lights to find a lady love for him.

First time I have ever fancied myself a matchmaker.

Mmario, if you steam Henry, I'll fricasse you!

Yum!    Bard you with garlic and a rosemary rub before I toss you in the skillet of hot olive oil and butter.

Just think. Briefly, I bet you could sing the high tenor parts.

No, you haven't seen anything until you've seen a dragon in wasp.

Her hair was real shiny
And soft as pure silk
And when she shampooed it
She used dragon milk....

"Say, were do you get dragon milk?"
"From a cow with short legs!"

I watched another tarantula dragged across the yard by another tarantula hawk today. This one took the long way round, perhaps trying to avoid dragging on grass by detouring to the paved driveway, but the trip back over to my neighbor's shrubbery where she apparently was going to stash her prey was longer across a different patch of grass than just hoofing it straight down the turf where she bagged the spider.

Geez. Dumb wasp. The one I followed last month was a better dragger.

There are three species of Hercules beetles native to the US. Why does it not surprise us that Amos would choose to link to the one with "tityus" as its species name?

Actually, no. I've passed Henry on to a colleague at work who already has tamed a couple of tree frogs and an anole. Trying to convince him, however, to not house Henry with the anole, who is not quite as big as the beetle and could possibly get gored. We are now on a hunt for a female so he will have a breeding pair.

In captivity, one feeds them ripe, juicy fruits such as peaches and pears.

Did you know Hercules Beetles are the strongest animals in the world? Gentle Giants.

Oh fer God's sake, Little Hawk! A fuckin' television HOCKEY commentator, and I'm supposed to be impressed? Considering that (A) I don't watch television, (B) I hate sports, and (C) I hate hockey more than most sports, why in the name of Christ on a cracker would I entertain any positive thoughts toward a TV hockey guy, particularly one whose politics and overall style seem to be diametrically opposed to my own? There's absolutely NOTHING about the guy that would endear him to me in any way! Hell, he doesn't even have a REAL beard, just one of those half-inch goatees! Phooey!

Please, Rapaire!! At least report with respect for verisimilitude.

What Kotschick actually SAID was the they had prove that a rational linear combination of Chern numbers is an oriented diffeomorphism invariant of smooth complex projective varieties if and only if it is a linear combination of the Euler and Pontryagin numbers.

In dimension at least three, they further proved that only multiples of the top Chern number, which is the Euler characteristic, are invariant under diffeomorphisms that are not necessarily orientation-preserving. These results solve a long-standing problem of Hirzebruch's. He also claimed to determine the linear combinations of Chern numbers that can be bounded in terms of Betti numbers. This remains to be demonstrated.

(A diffeomorphism is an isomorphism of smooth manifolds. It is an invertible function that maps one differentiable manifold to another, such that both the function and its inverse are smooth.)

(Chern classes are characteristic classes. They are topological invariants associated to vector bundles on a smooth manifold. If you describe the same vector bundle on a manifold in two different ways, the Chern classes will be the same. When are two ostensibly different vector bundles the same? When are they different? These questions can be quite hard to answer. But the Chern classes provide a simple test: if the Chern classes of a pair of vector bundles do not agree, then the vector bundles are different. (The converse is not true, though.))

(The Betti number of a topological space is, in intuitive terms, a way of counting the maximum number of cuts that can be made without dividing the space into two pieces. This defines, in fact, what is called the first Betti number. the Euler characteristic (or Euler-Poincaré characteristic) is a topological invariant, a number that describes a topological space's shape or structure regardless of the way it is bent. The Pontryagin class lies in cohomology groups with index a multiple of four. It applies to real vector bundles.)

See, I thoughtfully provided informal definitions to make the whole matter clearer...
