Aww, gnuzer, be aisy on yersel'!

SRS, the wide-berth policy is definitely in order for those perfervid radioactive-waste genetically-mutated leavings of Rapparee's most overheated imagining.

Hey, MOM, I'm going to visit with family next month at a wedding. Most of my family members are pretty normal, just a couple of wackos in the mix. If I run into them I'll just treat them like the folks down at the Legion Hovel and give them a wide berth.

Y'all minus one. Who? I'll give ya three guesses and the first two don't count. Name rhymes with Stu... as in gnupid.

Guilty as sin, me. "Just havin a baaaad day" is no excuse. I will... once again... try to refrain from even opending those threads upon which I went Chongo.

You guys see my email re The Vinyl Cafe? That guy is a true weaver of far fetched funny fantasy. I know all of you will be getting together soon to decide what to get me for Kissmeass soooo I'll drop a subtle hint. Go to Amazon and buy me everything he ever wrote and all his recordings, ship them to him and explain what a great guy I am (most days) and beg and plead for him to autograph them all (bribe him if necessary) and include the shipping and handling to get them to me. And, don't wait for Kissmeass to draw nigh... just have the package marked "Do not open until December 25th." and Bob's my uncle eh? I promise I will act surprised. I will even send you all a beautiful pic of me opening the prezzy.

Shame to s/he who "lurketh and posteth not". Well, ah never. I do it mainly because the subjects veer and swirl so fast I can't keep up.

But I will post this just because I like it (Megan posted it in the Mudcat Community thread):

Be wise more often than we are foolish
Be peacemakers more often than we are warmongers
Be quiet talkers more often than we are shouters
Be compassionate more often than we are uncaring
Be bridges more often than we are walls
Be listeners more often than we feel the need to talk
Be gentle more often than we are harsh
Be forgiving more often than we are condemning

I must say this thread is among the few peaceful ones. Take a bow, y'all.

Raise your eyes, oh MOAB, unto the Fifty of Kay! For verily I say unto you that its day is not far. All ye who post shall be honored and rejoice; and verily he who lurketh and posteth not shall inherit the shame thereof, and the glory of that Exalted Number shall not shine upon him.

Let us talk about being on the cusp of real greatness. There are currently two threads in the BS section to which I have made the 99th post.

Just think of it! The potential for empowerment! Not one, but TWO opportunities for aspiring Mudcatters to post 100! on the same day.

Who knows, some one might score a double header!!!!!

I just love creating opportunities for people.

Most of them that ain't quite right can be fixed with good whack upside the head. Just remember what my ol' pard Cicero used to say: "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."

I think A's story is quite believable. Human's are surely capable of such thought processes and the proof is in the hypotenuse. Well, most. Some are just not right.

The mind is extraordinary--flexible, plastic, correlative and eidetic sometimes. You kinda wonder --with all these souls sandwiched in between this amazing multi-dimensional holographic feed and the real-time incessant sensory input of the meat-card--how anyone imagines or accomplishes anything!

The British often referred to the American revolutionaries as "Yankees"...possibly since the rebellion really began in the New England states. They also referred to them as "those damned rebels". It has nothing to do with your American Civil War in either case.

Rap fired the first volley, and I am replying in kind.

We saw the Yankees comin' with a holler and a yell
We loaded ball and powder and we blew 'em all to hell
The General said, "Cease fire, lads, we've got 'em on the run!"
And we chased 'em back to Washington and captured all their guns

We caught a Yankee Captain and we marched him down the street
He was trembling in his boots as he staggered on his feet
The ladies laughed to see him, and the boys raised up a cheer
Then we took him to the arsenal and hung him by his ears

He dangled from the jackstaff, and he cried "Don't kill me, please!"
So we cut him down in pity, and we fed him mushy peas
Just like you'll get in London, and he grinned from ear to ear
He declared, "I've not been fed so well in 27 years!

We made him General's mascot, and he served as waterboy
While we torched the bloody White House, which gave our soldiers joy
We took him back to Canada with some other souveniers
Where everyone remarked upon the Yankee Captain's ears

For it happened that in hanging him they'd stretched a bloody yard
Now they hung around his buckles when the wind weren't blowing hard
But when it got a gale up they went streaming fore and aft
Like the pennants on a packet, and it made the sailors laugh

Now the Captain's been released and he's joined the British fleet
For he knows the Royal Navy is a force that can't be beat
He ties his ears back handsomely and when he loads the guns
He shouts "God Save the King, me lads, and to hell with Madison!"

Back in 1814 we took a little stroll
Over there to Lundy's Lane, we took some cannonball
We knew we'd meet the British there
And we'd whup some British....
And leave 'em there a'layin' in good Canadian grass.

"Beyond the Cascade" is a simply marvellous book, a great adventure story, and a philosophical-spiritual journey that gives the reader a great deal to think about. Suzannah is a totally believable character, a woman of great strength and determination, an original thinker who is ever intent on extending her horizons and not afraid to take on great risks in doing so. Every location in the story from New York City to the interior of Africa is depicted in beautiful clarity, and every character, major or minor, is interesting, colorful, and convincing. You grow to love some of the people in this tale, and that's what keeps you reading above all else. Who will enjoy "Beyond the Cascade"? Anyone who likes a cracking good adventure tale, anyone who sees life as a spiritual journey, anyone who yearns to go beyond mere surface appearances and find a greater Truth...with a capital "T". This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. How do I sum it up? By saying: I wish I'd written it. - George Coventry

Fine squash sliced thin, wafered heritage tomatoes, finely scraped carrot curls--a sald for a King, carefully dressed and presented to BBW with a bowl of hot home-made chicken soup, steeped for days with lots of pepper, onions, carrots, celery and spices floating among them. This was my last decent act last night before I wandered off to the East County. I did a twenty-minute set at a little dive called the Parkeway--good people, good music, good Guinness. This morning, Maggie Darlin' Dogg and I went out to the park and gsalloped around making each other chase a tennis ball. She was supposed to bring it back each time, but she's training me.

Anybody who don't like this can step outside...of the Idaho Legion Hovel. She was well known and highly respected there and several members -- The Steel Knuckles Kid, Iron Fist Fatty, Stomper, Toe-Shootin' Bill, Eat-Yer-Hat, and others will accommodate you should you be disrespectful. Leave next-of-kin notification with the bartender so it will be properly disposed of in the trash and not left to litter the streets as various parts of you will be.

I didn't drop in yesterday, sorry MOM if you drooped near the bottom. I was pursuing a personal task and didn't check out Mudcat or facebook early, only to come up for air in the early afternoon and find that our dear Katlaughing had died. "Thunderstruck" pretty well defines the feeling - I was at work, trying not to bawl my head off, instead dabbing at tears the rest of the afternoon.

Mediocre??? Fine talk from you, Rap! Yer the kinda suicidal fool who woulda described Wild Bill Hickock or Machine Gun Kelly as "mediocre" to their face...a coupla seconds before they put a whole buncha new air holes in you with hot lead.

I been readin' "the Cascade". It's surprisin'ly good. I didn't think Amos had it in him to write somethin' this good, but I guess I was wrong. It's damn near as good as Raymond Chandler, and that ain't just whistlin' Dixie. Now, if there'd been a Chimp or two worked into the story...and a crocodile fight or two in the river...then it woulda been even better. Still, not shabby. I give it 8 outta 10 stars.

I don't think of death as an extinction, I think of it as being akin to stepping through a small doorway and leaving a room one has been inside for a long time...and stepping into a much larger open space. What is there, I can't say, because I'm not there right now, but I have a feeling it's very good.

Amos, I've written that review of "Beyond the Cascade".

Ebbie... lillies are the flower of death in some Germanic* countries. I defintely see a connection.

*Mum told me about this, having learned about it in Germany. The Easter Lily is so because of the death of Jesus. Ya just don't give another person lillies except at Easter or at a funeral.

I know, Amos. It feels significant to me in ways that I cannot know. I am just so sorry.

I don't put much stock in dream interpretation but last night I woke from a vivid dream of beauty.

Here is what I wrote about an hour ago when I first heard the news:

"Lily
To see lilies in your dream symbolizes tranquility, spirituality, faith, peace, purity, joy and bliss. It is also connected (with) mourning."

Last night I saw a stand of tall, pale blue, ethereal, delicate lilies with weeds and grasses cut short all around it. They were beautiful beyond words.
I feel that it is somehow connected to Katlaughing's death last night. July 22, 2013

I am still recovering from the news about Katlaughing. She's been a voice of the Mudcat since before I first came here. It was unexpected (to me). One of those shifts in the fabric that cannot be ignored.

That is fascinating, Rap! So...if I got a big enough ball of string and tied it to a wooden stake driven in the ground...then started off in some direction, unwinding the string as I go...and kept on in a straight line...I would eventually reach the stake from the other side and have a string stretched around the entire world!!! Right?

Why has no one ever done this?

No, because if you go far enough West you'll be back East.

You see, LH, the Earth is shaped like a ball. A bit of a misshapen ball, like one that's been played with by several generations of kids and then given to the dogs as a "fetch" toy, but a ball none the less. So if you mark any spot on that ball and draw a straight line on the surface away from it in any direction you'll end up back where you started! Isn't that cool? It's just one of the wonders of what I call a "sphere."
