First fruits and tithes are odious things,
And so are Bishops, Priests, and King Khandu, who who is really Tweed.

Yes yes! I hear you. I hear you all. I tried to ignore the demands for a speech but you are too overwhelming, so...here goes!

Ladies, Gentlemen, and your ilk...

It is with tremendous reverence that I posted the 7001 post to this wonderful thread. Yes, I remember when MOAB was just a wee thought passing through my Kingly head; then, nearly two years ago, MOAB became a "light-bulb", an inspired idea, and I acted on it regally.

There were detractors as you all know. But BS has ever had detractors, yet it continues, even as MOAB has continued.

True, JOE OFFER stepped to the plate and gave MOAB his Official Blessing. Certainly that was an encouragement to many, yet, I think MOAB would have continued even without his blessing.

I feared for MOAB's life in the early days; I thought she would die somewhere between 100-200 posts. I underestimated the power inherent in her...the POWER of BULLSHIT!!!

And now, 7000+ strong, she stands tall in the anus of society, proudly pumping out bovine fecal matter by the ton.

I am humbled. I am awed. I am asloTweed.

King khanduwhoisasloTweed

It really is an accomplishment, the like of which has not been seen since the days of the Pyramids being raised in the sands of the Nile Valley. I am SO impressed. What an upstart you tuirned out to be, Khandu!! LOL!! :D

"Upstart" is just "Startup" spelled backwards. Or maybe sort of slantways. "Upstart" spelled backwards is "tratspU."

How true. But...if "upstart" was spelled with other letters...say, f-l-u-r & p in that order, I believe it would not spell "tratspu" backwards. Of course, I could be wrong.

At least no-one can call you a start-up. pu-trats, backwards. They're just exhausting.

Would there be any reason you would want to turn "ass backwards" into "sdrawkcab ssa?"

Just wondering.

Although it has a certain phonemic charm I see no merit in doing so.

sdrawkcab ssa is the name of one of the Old Ones. Do not, I repeat, do NOT, say it aloud at midnight on St. Festus' Eve if you are standing on the grave of a hanged man on the beach at the Bay of Fundy.

Bill, of course you are still the greatest. Everybody knows that. When I think of how you battled the Gorn in "Arena" with your harvest gold lycra T-shirt torn half off your sweating torso, I get all short of breath. I was recently viewing your rendition of "Rocket Man". Words fail me. Warp 10? Aye, sir!

I think Little Hawk should be ashamed of himself; I assume he put on Guest's clothing and re-opened every Shatner thread he could find. This is very non-kulturny behaviour indeed.

Translated to English -- non-kulturny! :D

Every mornin' at the MOAB you could see him arrive,
He stood six foot six and weighed two forty five
Kinda broad in the shoulder and narrer at the hip
And everybody knew you didn't give no lip ta Big Amos.

Nobody knew where Amos called home,
He just drifted onto MOAB and kept all alone,
He said quite a lot, sort of mouthy and sly,
And if you thought of him at all ya figgered he was high...
Big Amos.

Some said he came from San Diego,
and there ain't nothing to rhyme that with in English, so screw it.

Perhaps a synecdoche would come in handy to complete your song. What part of San Diego could you use to represent the whole of San Diego? Coronada? La Jolla? La Mesa? Mission Beach? El Cajon? Scripps Institute? The navy yard (there is one, right?)

Just a thought.

Rapaire, you can use my big toe. It represents the whole town.

I must say I yam quite flattered...noone has ever stuck me in a song before.

I'll have to return the compliment. If I can think of a rhyme scheme including Rapaire and Idaho. Perhaps I will include SRS, Bobert, Khandu and Rustic Rebel in there as well. And Tweed, Leedle Hack, an' Bunnhabain, with which nothing will ever rhyme.

Anyway, thanks, man. Made my night!!

And a vicious yank from a huge right hand,
Sent dreams of manhood to the Promised Land,
Big Amos.

Frankly, Rapaire, it is to say the least disappointing. It lacks the creativity and freshness of which there was at least a glimmer of a promise in your earlier beginning work.

I am torn between resorting to similarly scurrilous mediocrity in kind, or simply contacting Stirrup, Trawl, Windup, Troll, and Restimulatem, my attorneys, asking that they write you.

What once promised an artistic fruition has degenerated into mere slander. This is a sorry development, my friend, and I can only hope we can do better in the future.

Well, Rapaire, it appears you are studying the diplomatic and literary styles espoused by Mister Bush, a sort of cryptic neo-Fascist approach involving steamrollering and invective. We started off so well, too.

You are quite free to write any song you like, of course. Let me just caution you that you will inherit the fruits of your product, so you had best make it sweet.

What Bush and his ilk never realize is the consequences of their own creation.

Sigh.

How I wish you had chosen differently.

Ever' mornin' at the MOAB you could see him arrive
He stood six-foot six and weighed about ninety-five
Kinda broad at the shoulders and narrow at the hip
Ever'body knew you didn't give no "lip", to Big Amos.

Nobody knew where he'd left his cajones
He just drifted onto MOAB and played his trombone
He didn't say much, 'cause he was loud and famous
And if you spoke at all, you just said hi, to Big Amos;

Somebody said he came from San Dieg'
Where he got in a fight o'er a chicken leg
And an upraised finger from a huge right hand
Nearly sent him off to the promised land, Big Amos;

Then came the day when a hard drive crashed
Data was lost and files were trashed
MOABites were prayin' and hearts beat fast
And ever'body tho't they'd have to work at last, 'cept Amos;

Thru the dust and the tears of this man made hell
Walked a giant of a man the MOABites knew well
Grabbed a sagging sector and gave out with a groan
And like a giant Oak tree just stood there alone, Big Amos;

With all of his strength, he gave a mighty shove
Then Stilly yelled out, there's data above
And twenty MOABites logged in for a data save
And now there's only one left down there to save, Big Amos;

With floppies and jump drives they started back down
Then came that rumble that the drive had ground down
And as smoke and gas belched out of the draw
Ever'body knew that he'd met ol' Spaw, Big Amos;

Now they never tried to reopen that worthless thread,
They just placed a marble urinal in front of it
These few words are written on a plaque:
At the bottom of this pipe greps a big, big man, Big Amos.

Amos used flattery to to shame us,
GUEST was stirring and nameless,
Khandu thought this won't do,
Idaho said "I don't know..."
But Rustic rebel was on the level.

Rapiere waited 'til later,
and went off to bake a potato
Stilly River Sage fell off the page,
as the cat was down for days,
Tweed was in need,
of rhyming couplets,
Little Hawk gawked,
at pure doggeral,
And Bunnahabhain,
cannot rhyme again
As MMario, Layah, Bobert and Chuckles
Are names to give me much trouble.

Well, you do better then!

Georgie-Porgie Gordon rhymed "ruin" and "Don Juan," and I doubt that I could follow a better lead than that of the Peer of the Realm.

In rhyming, I mean. Georgie had Other Ways that I don't want to follow.
