Skip to the loo my darling. Hope all goes well, Rap.

That flash was probably a meteorite, so sayeth the CBC and we all know the CBC is always right. Or, at least, righteous.

Help me
I think I'm peeing
In the fridge again
When I get that crazy feeling
I know I'm in trouble again
I'm in trouble
'Cause it's a Frigidaire and you know what they say
If it's a Frigidaire leave it there
It'll die and all yer stuff will spoil
And you'll get botulisoOOMMMM

Sorry Joni.

Your flash made me picture your manufactured - and - huge stone flying at supersonic speed, gnu. But where did it land? Was there a second flash? Not to mention, a boom?

There WAS a second flash. It happened in the wee hours of today's AM. But, I was in the bunk, curled up snug as a gnu in a... several blankets. I keeps er cold at night eh? Unless I am up fer a good reason (bladder related), the two layers of wool blankets that I st... got at UNB which cover my bedroom window shield me from Mother Nature's intrusions. I never heard no booms from neither meteor. Then again, it ain't open window season here yet.

Ebbie... I heard and watched a cock crow doing that call they only do in spring about 10 days ago. First time I ever heard it in town. About 5 days ago, I watched a battle of epic proportions between the family that lives in my pines and an interloper. It was savage! At one point, the local male had the intruder by the breast with his talons, shoved him into the snow and pecked at him furiously. One of his young was pulling tail feathers out of the intruder while he was being set upon. The fight went on for at least four hours and I witnessed a number of the violent encounters when the were in sight from my windows. Alas, no video or pics for reasons too boring to detail herein. Just a memory in my mind... but one I shall not soon forget.

gnu, you'd sleep warmer if you had both of those wool blankets over you on the bed instead of layering them on the windows. Just a thought.

I have three blankets on the bed. And, as I have aged, I sleep in a tee, PJ bottoms and socks. When it's really cold and windy, I wear a toque. Very Canuck.

Video has confirmed the first 'flash' as a meteorite (there was never a doubt as Ukraine still exists) and the second, I assume, will be as well.

Here in the UK we have a quaint method of covering our windows. We call them curtains.

Here in the US we have yet another way. We call them "Bullet Proof Shutters"...depending on where you live or whether you get along with your neighbors or not.

I just bring up the shields.

Curtains? Curtains are expensive. Free... ahhh, old wool blankets draped over an old vertical blinds track are far cheaper and I am a bas... bachelor so I don't even look at them when I am in the bedroom.

I wanted to get some specific pics, like plantations, but after I found out yesterday that the mighty JDI had impaled himself on his own sword, I kinda got all warm and fuzzy inside and, well...

Friday, at last! MOM, we're gonna have to mow the lawn again this weekend. It's that time of year, needs it at least once a week, sometimes more. It's about time to get your hammock out of storage and hang on the front porch. And while you're at it move the small fridge out there so the boys can keep cold beer in it.

Ahyup. That there LEJ be one salt a the earth stand up guy besides bein talented. The vid clocked a lotta hits first day. It's being adopted by some as the theme for the protest movement. Things really heated up yesterday as the politicians and the main lumber baron were caught in damning lies. Seems the scientists they said were on board were NEVER even consulted. It really is dramatic and we are talking about billions of dollars. Seriously... somebody gonna get a hurt real bad (Russel Peters... Google that guy... he will make you laugh).

So, if you carve this eucalyptus chair so that there are places where you can put little flower pots of mint you can sit in it and never need to buy cough drops again? Is that your plan? To put Smith Brothers and Halls and Ludens and the rest out of business? Are you, Amos, attempting to undermine the American economy, which we all know in our heart of hearts is based upon cough drops? Are you so unamerican that you would plunge the United States into financial chaos and force the country back into the Dark Ages?

Amos, I'm afraid that I must report you to the Committee That Deals With Unamerican Plans That Would Plunge America Into Financial Collapse (CTDWUPTWPAIFC, for short) of the Idaho Legion. Don't expect to get of lightly for this bunch doesn't take such threats lightly.

What's next? The birds and the bees? Wait... yeah... Monsanto has that one covered. Never mind.

By this time tomorrow I will be laying in a hospital bed, drugged and missing a part of my perfect body.

That's because they SAY I'm having a partial knee replacement, but I know that in reality They need more of my perfect genes to store in the Secret Location in Greenland where the Top Secret Bank Of Perfect US Genetic Material is. That way if they ever need perfect genes to clone perfect beings my perfect genetic material is available for them to use.

Of course, it's the only genetic material there because it's perfect.

DO the genes know they're for a body with part missing?

Man, I gave up on the Eucalyptus. That wood was worse than lignum vitae, the ironwood they used to make deadeyes out of. It's impossible!   Those lumps of hardwood are off to the dump.

I'll build a little bench out of four-by's or some such. Much easier.

Amos, you could use a hammer and chisel or build a small fire on the block of wood and slowly hollow it out with fire and a chisel.

Rap, I hope the knee replacement is all they predicted and that you don't receive any odd radio signals or set off the alarms at the doors of the public library.

Here I am, laying in a hospital bed, wracked with pain and bleeding profusely, at the mercy of sadistic attendants who make dear Nurse Ratched seem a tender teddy bear. Ah well, I shall survive and thrive for that which does not kill me makes me stranger. For instance, I now have three balls, the latest being a "pain ball." But I must close for now as the attendants are coming with their rubber truncheons.

Seems you did not calculate the vectors carefully enough on your new scheme to get free drugs at President Obama's expense. Never mind, you will survive.

Stilly I know I could do those things. The hardness and tightness of this block is such that it would take me months, unless I went out and bought a full-bore chain saw. The small electric chainsaw I borrowed is not up to the job. I have several excellent tools of electric persuasion which could make slow, miniscule steps on the work, but would take longer than I am willing to spend.

I took the opportunity this evening to peruse some of our history, around the region of the 2500th post. To my delight I encountered this little piece of depissé expostulation:

Disgusting -- not only does this mindless fanatic sycophant steal like a hydrophobic rug merchant, but he then alters the plagiarized material! Hard to believe that underneath this fallen, craven, ensorcelled fool of a camp idolator was once a proud spiritual seeker and a speaker of ornate but honest phrase!! How the doughty have fallen!

I can't recall who I aimed those scintillating silvery rhetorical arrows at. I suppose it might have been Rapparee or Little Hawk. But I delight in them, nevertheless.

Not even one sip and I hear my snowman with his tractor mounted blower. I shall sip the tea before I return to clear Mum's back door again. Was he watching from up the street?

5C and showers tomorrow. Verrrry funny.

Ha! Back when I worked for the Forest Service and was around all sorts of loggers who used the huge falling saws I heard one of them refer to those little chainsaws as "cheese slicers." That's no way to tackle a big piece of wood. However, if your wood has knots or is a burl, etc., chainsaws aren't always real safe to use either because you can hit things that break teeth or cause them to bounce out of your hands or buck dangerously.

Rap, hospitals are simply no place to get a good night's sleep. They don't seem to know how to set the thermostat to a comfortable temperature, and they're darned noisy. Get out of there soon!
