I saw LH on facebook the other day and told him that MOM misses him.

So you think I need a wife, Amos?

A wife? I missed that. But, I will gladly offer if you are so inclined. I am ken on hookin up with a good lookin intelligent woman. Of course, you would have to become a Canuck and you would have to wait until the snowstorm is over come April or so.... then, skeeters and blackflies await. Perhaps we could be intrnUt spouses? I would be thrilled. And saddened at your loss.... of sanity.

ALl I wished was that their wives be thrifty; if you don't have one, then she can't, and you will have to do it yourself. Back to the status quo ante, everyone! On the double!

Yeah! Ante up that status quo so I can see it and double.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, a chap from Mexico was attending the undergrad college I went to. Now at the time I moved in an interesting crowd -- they were interested in partying, drinking, and generally having fun. Anyway, Jose (I'll call him that) had two quarts of homemade tequila sent up to him by one of his friends on his father's ranchero. He mentioned it, and the coming weekend was set for a trip to the camp for tequila swigging and poker.

When the three others (including my late brother, who spoke fluent Spanish) arrived, they hauled the beaten up old table out to the middle of the room, helped themselves to some tequila and announced it was good, and said, "Awright, let's play cards!" Naturally, no one wanted to play with anyone else;s deck and finally an acceptable deck was created out of three separate decks. Jose admired the profanity.

Then someone stabbed a massive Bowie knife into the table and said, "I wand an honest game, by God!" At that, move knives, were jammed into the table, lead pipes appeared, revolvers, chains, machetes, nail-studded clubs and other playthings started piling up on the table. Finally, a 12 gauge shotgun was placed on the top of the pile. Jose was white, he had no idea what was going on, and at that point the others broke down laughing. Jose saw the joke, and the card party progressed through the night, Jose only skinning them for most of their money. The next afternoon they loaded all the crap back into the car and headed for home, the hangovers being then at a level where they decided that they would indeed live.

Ah, Mother. No one cares, and today I'm of to the VA in SLC for a C&P tomorrow. The weather down there is supposed to be frightful. If I make it I'll try to post again this evening after a nice dinner at the Bombay House.

Apparently, 0:00:00h does not exist in Max's universe.

In my universe, it's Happy Winter Solstice on Saturday at 13:11h. I usually dance naked around my backyard maple tree in celebration but, seeing as to how I would have to shovel a shitload of snow, I may have to forego it this year as I have just today slipped twice on ice and slush and angered BOTH Satanic nerves. Hurts like hell! Besides, the neighbours are Baptists and they frown on such pagan rites. And, so does little gnu... but he's just prejudicial about the cold and withdrwaws into himself.

A True Believer would dance around without worrying about a little snow. It didn't stop your neolithic ancestors, did it? It didn't stop the Celts, did it? It doesn't stop the mythical "Pats" does it?

As to how I pulled that little trick off I shall only say, with a sly grin, that I exist in many Universes of which you are unaware. (Please note that I did not end that last sentence with either a preposition or a proposition.)

The rain in the UK tends to be water, which only makes things wet, rather than make a mess.

What the heck does it rain where you are?

I agree with Gnu- I would prefer that snow go 'out' freeze-drying, rather than sink into boggy, knee-deep slush from rain. It is one time, however, when I like the fact that we don't get MUD with it- Juneau doesn't have enough top soil for that to be a problem.

Izzity Wuzz was out for a buzz
Or a thrill-ride in some new identity.
He wanted like heck to have an effect
He was bored with endless serenity.

So Izzity thought well, and he mustered a spell
To make Something??and thought he could see it!
It was lovely and bright, and it tasted all right
So the bugger decided to Be it.

Now being a Something was all very well,
It certainly added Dimension
But some other Being tried to Be it as well,
And Izzy felt some apprehension

It was grounds for Resistance, he decided at once,
And along with Resistance, Desire
And the sad combination of feeling and force
Soon had Izzy tangled in fire.

He quickly lost track of the Something's own source
And reckoned the cause was worth fighting
Without realizing he was fighting himself
And the fire was all his igniting!

Hey, Pete, I have an American Staffordshire terrier. Wonderful smart sweet dog. Looks kind of like the one on that page - red and white with a red nose and white feet and chest. She was an injured stray big pup, unaltered (ears are natural - such lovely expressive ears!) She smiles (literally - wrinkles her nose and shows her teeth as she wags happily). She's probably break the Galactic Overlord's kneecaps by wagging her tail so hard in his presence.

Lovely expression and fondness for the promulgation of bullshit. I must seek out more of Dylly

Just talkin about kids and mums on FB. Minds me....

The Four Days of Christmas start this afternoon with the cracking of 3 1.75# Bay of Fundy hardshell bugs (lobsters). $6.88/# fer cooked? eat yer heart out. I told Mum to "stay hungry" for Wild Turkey Surprise. Tomorrow, she gets a couple of small bottles of sparkly pop. The next day, a can of frozen Shediac Bay bug meat, a monster deeeluxe "cheesecake" (4 quarters of different flavours), box of cherry, a box of cherry chocolates, 6 packets of mint chocolates, and cashews. The last day, 1# of nice Bay of Fundy scallops and fishcakes (cod) cooked juuuust right, with all the trimmings.

Oh, yeah, almost forgot. If the weather doesn't change, she's also gonna get her driveaway shovelled every f***in day too. But, look on the bright side, eh? 87 days to Spring Solstice. Then, there will only be another month or so of this white crap. If ya see Ol Man Winter, hold him down and call me. I got sommat I'd like ta put to him.

Bugs - is this slang for crayfish or lobster or something along those lines? Seems I've heard that before.

Baking and cleaning here. MOM will not recognize the place when I get through. We seemed to have a fur carpet - all dog hair, and now all gone. (The carpet, not the dogs.)

SRS, I could open both those photos. Nice dogs. Our German Shepherd, Bobby, is 20 months old now and he loves the hose pipe. Judi shoots water into the air and he leaps for all he's worth to try and catch it. Seriously funny!

SRS... yes, lobster. You heard it after Date: 23 Dec 13 - 02:27 PM, I assume. Dog hair. I lived with a couple of buddies in a big ol house for a couple of years while at uni. The owner, a fellow grad student, had a half Shepherd, half Newf, big, black, shaggy dog. I used to wrestle with him in the living room. Got a call one day and the girl with the sexy voice would not take 'no' for an answer and even offered a free set of steak knives if I would accept a vacuum demo. The guy looked at the carpet, gave me the steak knives and left without plugging in the vacuum. Bear.

Pete... smoked salmon and scrabled eggs sound gooood!

The smoked salmon and scramble eggs (with a piece of toast) was delicious - a squeeze of lemon juice and some black pepper on the salmon. It's a bit of a tradition with us to have it for lunch on Christmas Eve. Still got enough salmon for a sarnie on Boxing Day.

Now I'm simmering the stock for tomorrow's gravy: turkey giblets (rinsed well in cold water), one carrot, one small onion, a bay leaf, a stalk of celery and 1 litre of water. Bring to boil, simmer for two hours, strain into jug, cool, cover with clingfilm, put in fridge till tomorrow. Before lunch, add turkey juices and heat rapidly to reduce.

Yum, yum, bring it on!

Pot roast for dinner (I gave all the choice of turkey or roast - they want pot roast). I have a loaf of fresh homemade bread and a few tomatoes picked green and ripened in the house. My Moonglow may have a BLT for lunch on xmas day. :)

It wasn't cooked but he cut it up and served it!!! And here's the kicker... his trade in the CAF Reserves (Weekend Warriors my bro called em)? Cook. If we ever go to war, he's safe on accounta they won't call him up. Can't fight a war from the outhouse.
