Well yes; but for mortal man to aspire to the heights of Mater Nostra Taurus Caca the Magnificent is surely hubris of the first water. I remind you of the fate of poor Prometheus, of Icarus, of Sisyphus, and all who reach (as Rapaire has often done) beyond their stations.
Caca of man will never be cacciataurii.

Caca is what this entire thread is about now, isn't it?

I thought that by now you'd have realized that I'm a caca-phony.

I think you have displayed excessive erudition in light of a mere typographical error, sirrah.

As for cacophony, of course we have to take turns, so it does not become an issue. But if I wanted to learn more, I would turn to you for aid, as you are clearly an expert caca-phoneticist.

He will soon, especially if they both have good speakers.

Hey, MOM, it was about 105 today. It's cooled enough so I can take the dogs for a walk.

Since Amos and his wife can play different music at the same time, I wonder if he understands the word "cacophony."

...mystifying syntactical lacinae...

I looked, Amos. "Lacina" (Coming from Old French I suppose the plural would be the same as if it were Latin: Lacinae) is a name that today is spelled "Lacey" or some variant thereof which refers to a net-like fabric and is the adjectival form of the noun "lace". I would have used the word "lacunae", meaning gap or missing part, as in the statement "He is self-centered in opinion, with curious lacunae of astounding ignorance." "Lacunae" is the plural of the feminine Latin noun "Lacuna", meaning a hole or gap.

Mom!! Mom!! Guess WHAT???

Gramma sent us an Airport Express she wasn't using anymore, and after enough wrassling I managed to crack the password she forgot and reset and reconfigure it. So now, it has replaced the wee laptop in the living room that drives the stereo system. Now, the Airport Express, added to our local network, picks up my iTunes wirelessly and plays them through the stereo system, at the same time as it is playing them through my own computer speakers. The whole house is listening to Al Grierson. BBW can take over the Airport link and drive it from HER iTunes too. Not only that but because we have configured our iTunes to share each others' libraries I can drive the stereo from my computer to play songs from her library, and she can likewise play songs from my library through the stereo system OR through her computer speakers or both.

What a day!

Oh, look!! Rapaire has shown me the error of my ways in upbraiding him for his mystifying syntactical lacinae. I was wrong!! There WAS a referent buried in his stream of self-indulgent phantasms. I withdraw, unconditionally, my harassment for his being arbitrarily mysterious. I replace same with a comparable screed of disapprobation for lack of clarity in composition. As well as for confusing fact with fiction, but that's so deeply entrenched in the house of Mom I shouldn't even think about it...

Does he get thoughts by half-bale or the bale?

Fully fleshed out, I suppose you could get away with a half-bale. The dessicated ones that need a lot of work could come in bales, easily, and they'd have to ferment for a while to be ready.

DOes anyone notice that Rapaire has not told us what the referent is to his "it"? The only explanation, clearly, is a desire to create a mystery, in order to capture attention by asserting in a shallow sort of leger-de-main that he has the power to unveil the mystery (which he arbitrarily created in the first place) and thus relieve all our suffering suspense. Of course, none of us are any obligation to choose to suffer from this imaginary suspense, and I am sure if he ever chooses to finish his intentionally half-baled thought, it will turn out not to be too big a mystery after all.

I was hoping, Amos, that my experience with pellucidity might help you rid yourself of it. It is, however, transpicuous that you feel no more need for comprehensible coherency than you do to relieve yourself of your demented dotage. None the less, I shall continue to slog forward in what will probably become a vain endeavor to enlighten you.

David Brooks writes the following illuminating lines:

"Let us enter, you and I, into the moral universe of the modern narcissist.

The narcissistic person is marked by a grandiose self-image, a constant need for admiration, and a general lack of empathy for others. He is the keeper of a sacred flame, which is the flame he holds to celebrate himself.

There used to be theories that deep down narcissists feel unworthy, but recent research doesn't support this. Instead, it seems, the narcissist's self-directed passion is deep and sincere.

His self-love is his most precious possession. It is the holy center of all that is sacred and right. He is hypersensitive about anybody who might splatter or disregard his greatness. If someone treats him slightingly, he perceives that as a deliberate and heinous attack. If someone threatens his reputation, he regards this as an act of blasphemy. He feels justified in punishing the attacker for this moral outrage.

And because he plays by different rules, and because so much is at stake, he can be uninhibited in response. Everyone gets angry when they feel their self-worth is threatened, but for the narcissist, revenge is a holy cause and a moral obligation, demanding overwhelming force. ..."

He goes on to talk about Mel Gibson as example. But I wanted to insert his pellucid descriptive bauble here for the record, just in case, unliekly though it may seem, we ever encounter of of these Narcies.

I want a picture of Rapaire's gun securely tucked up in its Gun Cozy. I mean, really!

Isn't that sweet! Eiseley is knitting stuff. Well, I suppose if you really wanted to get into the Mudcat swing of knitting, you'll give Jacqui and MMario some company in the shawl knitting (or crocheting) camp. Seems we always have someone here needing an extra Mudcat cuddle. But for the sake of speed, perhaps knitting Mudcat bandanas instead of Mudcat shawls?

Me, I could probably used a knitted steering wheel cover. It gets kind of hot down here in summer, and it would feel toasty in winter.

Who was that masked man who came through here? I thought Khandu was a figment of MOM's imagination.

There was young fella they called "King Khandu"
And he had but one banjo and that wouldn't do,
So he tossed out our Mother, a wonderful lob
Which he never suspected would be quite such a job.

What--he's gonna keep his Magnum in the parlor, balanced on an antimacassar, and neatly wrapped in a baby-blue knotted cozy??? Did you sew on a little silk ribbon to secure it around the handle with? Is it form-fitting?

I swan, Miz Eiseley, you are an endless font of surprizes.

Parentoid supervision, indeed. The first Law of Childhood is, "That which is real is not a parent. That which is a parent is not real."

This is the struggle we have been given, like the Tin Soldier. On the average, we succeed at Becoming Real about the time they succeed (intentionally or not) at Becoming A Parent. And so the cycle goes, an endless flux of realities and 'parentcies. We can but strive and realize we are mere vessels for the acheivement of perfection.

I'll betcha the kids would LOVE to see what a shotgun does to a watermelon. It's the sort of scientific curiosity that started me down the path I have taken. Or how to launch multiple bottle rockets in a barrage fashion with only one match. Or how to sneak across a railroad bridge over a river at night without getting flattened by an unexpected train. Or lots of other things all children are interested in.

So if Eiseley is going to leave the room I guess I'll have to supervise.

I think that it would be most excellent to have a GOAB. All them mothers could bring their children, who would be staked out on the lawn and allowed to play with fireworks or whatever to their hearts' content. There's nothing like a vacation from their kids to make mothers feel that they've had a real vacation -- I'll supervise the rascals.

Freezers, Amos. Chest-type freezers. You could, and don't worry, I wouldn't THINK of piling heavy things on top, nope, not me, uh-uh.

Perhaps, though, it would be better to gather in Moab, Utah.

You could kayak there: simply head south from San Diego, round the Cabo San Lucas, north up the Sea of Cortez to the mouth of the Colorado River, up the Colorado to the Green River, and a bit up the Green and there's Moab! In fact, you could continue north, portage over to the Grey's River from the Green in the Bridger National Forest, go north up Grey's to Palisades Reservoir, go north out of the reservoir to the Snake River, follow that north and take the bend to the south until you come to American Falls Reservoir, turn left up the Portneuf River, and I'll meet you in lovely downtown Pocatello. We could then go to the Portneuf Valley Brewing Company for a beer and a brat. Remember to conserve your strength, though, because if you look at the map you'll see that most of the journey is uphill.

See? Getting here from San Diego is simplicity itself.
