I tried to eat at a Waffle House once, but I never even got to place my order because all the other people in the place kept changing their minds about what they wanted to eat. "I'll have the scrambled eggs with bacon and toast. No. Make that biscuits. And ham, not bacon. And change the scrambled to over-easy. Did I say biscuits? Could ya make that pancakes instead? And coffee. Black. No, make that cream and sugar...."

But a great deal less uncertain than a waffle house. In fact, a little known probable fact is that the Theorem of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle was first discovered when Schrodinger's cat dragged it into a Waffle House.

in the australian outback, people used to make daub & wattle houses (mud & branches)- not as tasty as a waffle house..

1. King khandu's
2. Outhouses
3. Because he knows too much fer his own good.
4. Because he don't know enough nohow.
5. The MOAB comprises the maximal concentration of postulated uncertainties within a singular locus of space-time theoretically possible, because of the density of knowable wavicles it provides within minimum distance as described in the Holographic Theory of Learning. This includes all possible knowledge including the design of accordions designed to look like outhouses and vice-versa. But, mysteriously, it excludes the Waffle House recipe for grits because no-one has ever been able to understand it.

The MOAB has gone continental! So tell us, polaitaly, have you performed the sacred duty to be undertaken by all novice MOABites? In other words, have you read this piece of crap thread from beginning to end?

Here's a short quiz:

1) Whose bright idea was this piece of crap anyway?
2) With what common construction site appliance is CarolC often associated? (No! It's not an accordion!)
3) Why are Amos' posts so often indecipherable?
4) Why are Tweed's posts always indecipherable?
5) Explain the correlation between Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, The Holographic Theory of Learning, The MOAB, and Waffle House's recipe for grits.

That was the automatic translation thing, eh, JennyO? Sounds very much like my english. Tweed, I'm not a Pollo. I can't be a Pollo. I'm rather a Gallina...

Thank you Jenny fore translating Mr.PolloTropical's cryptic post. I had heard talk like thet in a movie once wif Sean Connerly az a black robbed monk and thar was a feller, summat unstrung, also in thar thet babbled in all different tongues but he sorta did mek a little sense. At least to me he did. It was called "Name obv the Rose?" "Black Rose?" "Burn down the Monkestery?" Somefing like unto thet anyhow...good movie!

The fisarmonica a magnificent instrument, and I envy very many Carol C that know it to play, dressed knot or that he is. (I have decided to take part in the Mother of All the Stronzate in Italian, and to render the thread more international. Sin that it does not know like translate "thread"... "filo" not me sound much good...)

Hmmm. Babelfish strikes again!

By the way, I inadvertantly misused the word abjure in a recent post on this thread. My profuse and profound apologies. I have been overwrought and underpaid.

formally reject or disavow a formerly held belief, usually under pressure; "He retracted his earlier statements about his religion"; "She abjured her beliefs"

No, Tweed, I did not see CarolC actually play the accordion - with or without clothes on. For that matter, I never actually saw the infamous accordion. For all I know, her accordion playing may just be an elaborate fiction though I can't imagine why anyone would want to pretend to be an accordion player. There are so many more socially acceptable things one could pretend to be. Like a leper.

Now, for an important announcement:

I have had the honor, the pleasure, and the exceedingly good fortune to have met Her Royal Highness Crapperqueen CarolC in the flesh (though she was wearing clothes at the time) along with the Royal Consort Jack the Sailor.

The last I saw of her she was on her way to an accordion jam and I was on my way to see Arlo Guthrie. I hope the accordion jam didn't open a hole into an alternate universe which sucked poor Carol into it. Such things have been known to happen to accordion players, ya know,

Freda, I'm reminded of a program I saw a year or two ago about Bob Ballard's research in the Black Sea. He found archeological evidence of human occupation in what is now quite deep water. The theory is that there was a natural barrier to rising ocean levels and when the Bosporus broke through the water rushed in and over time filled the basin where the now much later Black Sea is today. (Much as when Lake Bonneville, the Great Salt Lake predecessor, rushed out and down the Snake and reshaped the Columbia.) This leads Ballard and others to speculate that such an event (people having to move hundreds of yards a day to stay ahead of the water) could lead to the story of the flood and Noah's Arc.

I mention that story and the information that is appearing now in the context that some of these early stories may also have interesting natural history connections. It is easy to imagine the habitation of a large cave with well-established formations leading to a story of an elaborate underground city. And here in the states, it is known that in places like Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, the longest cave system in the world, that every place that modern day cave explorers have traveled in that cave system, they come upon evidence of ancient exploration through or living accomodations by American Indians. There are some very large rooms in Mammoth that are still full of artifacts, but there are also lots of tunnels they traversed. There seems to have been a lot of mining activity, scraping minerals from the walls, though I don't know what that would have been used for.

Has anyone read the May 2004 Smithsonian article called "Rocking the Cradle" about an archeologist's work in Iran? The subtitle is "In Iran, an archaeologist is racing to uncover a literate Bronze Age society he believes predates ancient Mesopotamia. Critics say he may be overreaching, but they concede his dig will likely change our view of the dawn of civilization." What do you suppose an ancient city like this has contributed to human storytelling and literature about mythic places over the centuries?

Then there are the hanging coffins of the ancient Ba people in China. . .

I think the Agarthi legends have their roots in factual history for those humans along the centuries who have been reincarnated as ants.

No telling what they've got going on down beneath the Gobi or under the Himalayas. Really a charming conceit.

I have been rasty of late in reaction to higher-than-average doses of poor taste and rat-shit mediocrity being flaunted about in the raiment of aesthetics, a sort of mental delusion which always depresses the hell out of me. My apologies if I have tread on anyone's toes.

meanwhile, back at the ranch...

One of the world's oldest legends tells of a vast underground network of tunnels and passageways connecting the great continents of the earth to a subterranean kingdom somewhere beneath the heart of Asia.

"Among the Mongolian tribes of Inner Mongolia," wrote the British explorer T. Wilkins, "there are traditions about tunnels and subterranean worlds which sound as fantastic as anything in modern novels. One legend - if it be that - says that the tunnels lead to a subterranean world of Antediluvian descent somewhere in a recess of Afghanistan, or in the region of the Hindu Kush. It is Shangri-la where science and the arts, never threatened by world wars, develop peacefully, among a race of vast knowledge. It is even given a name: Agharti."

According to Theosophical tradition, the last remnants of a super-civilisation which once flourished in what is now the Gobi fled below ground into two underground cities known respectively as Shambhalla and Agharti. Drawing upon the popular concepts of the Theosophists, the writings of 19th century occultists, and authentic Tibetan references to Agharti/Shamballah, some researchers place these cities not in super-bunkers hewn beneath the Himalayas, but actually inside a hollow Earth.

In their book The Morning of the Magicians, Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier state:

"This idea of a hollow Earth is connected with a tradition which is to be found everywhere throughout the ages. The most ancient religious texts speak of a separate world situated underneath the Earth's crust which was supposed to be the dwelling-place of departed spirits. When Gilgamesh, the legendary hero of the ancient Sumerian and Babylonian epics, went to visit his ancestor Utnapishtim, he descended into the bowels of the Earth; and it was there that Orpheus went to seek the soul of Euridice. Ulysses, having reached the furthermost boundaries of the Western world, offered a sacrifice so that the spirits of the Ancients would rise up from the depths of the Earth and give him advice. Pluto was said to reign over the underworld and over the spirits of the dead. The souls of the damned went to live in caverns beneath the Earth. Venus, in some Germanic legends, was banished to the bowels of the Earth. Dante situated his Inferno among the lowest circles. In European folk-lor! e dragons have their habitat underground, and the Japanese believe that deep down underneath their island dwells a monster whose stirrings are the cause of earthquakes."

Just to correct Mister Rapaires distortions (obviously feeling a bit desperate, he) I specified that the fondlees must be Genuinely Female. This was not meant to exclude anyone as long as they were born with original female equipment rather than acquiring it through surgical intervention or post-adolescent shopping.

All selected fondlees will be rewarded with waves of affectionate gratitude. The size of the waves will be determined by response magnitude as expressed orally, through body language, or thermally.
