Not active military, not at a range, not hunting, not a policeman -- yup, what is wrong? Apart from the obvious problems the man has regarding his paranoia, lack of belief in the police, sexual inadequacy, over-belief in television and video game and movie fantasies, and juvenile fascination with firearms?

Some people seem to confuse having a right to do something with having a reason to do it.

You spoke volumes with that remark, BWL!

I have now figured out the story of the tabby in my garden. She lives with a family two doors up the street and spends the nights in and the days out. And those out days seem to be in my garden. Perhaps we'll make friends one of these days.

"Some people seem to confuse having a right to do something with having a reason to do it."

Ditto Acme X 10! Very well said, BWL.

People forget that just because you CAN do something does not mean that you SHOULD do it.

I've seen some wonderful writing to do with the attitudes and behavior of the White House staff and other government people who work directly for Trump. For the time being, writers can convey their collective dismay as his inner circle tries to figure out how to get the naked emperor to stay away from the windows.

Salut,chere Mom!

Well, Kendall and Jacqui are back Down East after a week of extensive travels to the mountains est and the beaches East, ending up with a grand dinner party here where Tucker put on a spectacular dinner and a surprising amount of scotch and bourbon got assimilated into various digestive systems. It was a grand week, and we are still re-focusing as the ringing in our ears subsides.

Hi, Mom! I'm back, at least for a while. Starting Monday Pat and I will be taking our nieces Lauretta and Elizabeth to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks. I do hope the roads in the parks are open and free of too much snow.

Sounds like an excellent visit, Amos! Rap, let's hope the roads are free of magma from that super volcano.

Hi, Mom! Christians have a saint named Luke, right? Do they also have one named Tepid?

Neither a Tepid, nor a Hottie, nor a Frigid. A lot of their sisters and subordinates were handed the opportunity to become Saint Frigid but none accepted the dubious honor of it.

A fine spaghetti dinner with the trepidacious Dani has crowned this lovely Saturday. I got a new paint sprayer, as well, which made short work of oiling the container for the trash bins. Gramma comes to visit next week and all must be made ready!

And further more, no sag-bagging, Mom! Honestly. Chin up!

There is magma to be seen at Yellowstone, but it's all in a special part of the park that's only accessible to certain charter buses.

If you want to see it, you have to book a trip with the Magma Charter Bus Line.

You can hike in as well. Cars and trucks1 are not allowed because the National Park Service is trying to cut down on pollution around the magma and the volcanic vents.

1. Except for the trucks delivering the magma, emergency, and maintenance vehicles. Of course, VIPs such as the President and Vice-President have unlimited access to magma, and indeed are encouraged to visit it "up close and personal," as the saying goes.

Certain classes of VIPs are also encouraged to give bear hugs to the bears, pet the wolves and wolverines, and use cat toys to tease the cougars.

Certain classes of VIPs should be limited to bear hugs. Bears usually eviscerate their prey rather than killing them quickly by biting the neck or throat. Yeah, bear hugs for disgusting politicians and such. No more cruel than orange headed apes that kill millions in the name of Dog. (Did you see that fucking bullshit in Saudi Arabia yesterday?)

Trouble is, some politicians are not only in bad taste, they taste bad. Even to indiscriminate starving carnivores. Chances are after one bite, they's spit a piece out with a meaty trump ptttuiii on the ground.

If mammalian carnivores just aren't doing the job for you when it comes to removing unwanted government officials, try a few large reptiles. They're more efficient, less picky about what they eat, and less likely to choke to death on some pol's swollen head.

In these days when the White House is leaking like a colander and the President is being leaked on in more ways than one, we need a good plumber's friend to unclog the pipes of government or risk an overflow of a vile bile stew of self slakemanship and reality showmanship.

Hi, Mom! I have been landscaping to let more light into our garden. Largely, I've been lopping off low-lying limbs. But, yesterday, I lost my loppers. I looked and looked, but the loppers were lost. It was not a laming loss, since I have lots of loppers, but the lost loppers are the loppers I like the most. I had to make do with loppers I like less. But, later, I located my lost loppers! They were leaning against a ladder! It was lovely to go back to lopping limbs with loppers I really like.

BWL you are a Supper Star. I have titanium loppers. Some loppers are famous like Cindy, some are soso. Even though my loppers are being recalled because a weight lifter broke the handles I use them for bamboo. I have enough bamboo to feed a Panda.

The kind of clowns we're populating our gummint with won't be eaten by any bear, not one bite. They taste funny.

Losing loppers is a sorry fate, so I am full of joy that BWL's lost loppers are no longer loose. The Lord loves a located lopper.

We have had several MORE days of rain, Mom, and the Mighty Eno is swollen again. I swear that river swells and subsides like a Bishopric in Sunday School. No danger though--it carries the waters away handily, down into the Neuse River Basin, into the Neuse and the Pamlico Sound, where its waters wash up against the Ocacroke and Hatteras Island before wending their way once again into the arms of Mother Atlantic. More information here.

God bless the mighty Eno and the waters that run down it to the sea, is what I say.

Hi again, Mom. We've had a fair amount of rain here in Floribama also, resulting in a bumper crop of chanterelle mushrooms. I was going to go pick a bunch this afternoon, but got sidetracked when I walked past my pond and saw a Florida cottonmouth frolicking about in the water. I abandoned my mushroom hunt and returned to the house where I grabbed one of these and returned to the pond, only to find that Mr. Cottonmouth had ceased his frolicking and gone into hiding. He refused to show his face again, the coward.

As a result, I have been forced to reschedule the meeting between Mr. Cottonmouth and Mr. Remington for early tomorrow morning. Will advise outcome of meeting tomorrow. I suspect Mr. Remington will get the better end of the deal.

By the way, I do not dislike snakes. I only dislike cottonmouths who choose to take up residence in my pond where my dog likes to play. If Mr. C. would like to relocate to a nearby creek before sunrise, the meeting with Mr. Remington will be canceled.

I'm glad you included that last ¶ because even venomous snakes play a pretty darned interesting role. I need a few kingsnakes or ratsnakes or something right now to catch some mice and rats in my garden - the neighbor's cat apparently can't do it all by herself.

There's a snake identification group on facebook, and a week or two ago a woman made the remark that copperheads have a "Hershey's kiss" pattern - bingo! That works for me. I look at a lot of photos of the snakes people post (I wish they wouldn't kill them first) and have learned a lot.

Ya want snakes? Build yersel' a snake pit, lassie. Get a length or two, depending on the amount of snakes desired, of 6X6 cedar, a piece of metal roofing, and a rock. I don't think I need to provide construction instructions. Works a charm. Had one in front and one in back of my camp. Many snakes, no mice.

Amos, just tell her that my wife has had cancer five times, each one a different cancer, and she's still around and kicking butt when it needs kicking (not mine!). She's a 57 year cancer survivor.

The mighty Firehole, Madison, and Yellowstone are pretty close to out of their banks here with more snowmelt coming.

Bee-Dubya, I kinda like on of these. or one of these. Mostly though I don't fool with snakes and they don't fool with me. The only time I've had a close encounter with a rattler I eventually picked it up and threw it away.

is amazing how some people can make huge problems small and how others can make small problems huge.

This week was the first week a technique involving injectable dye and lasers to highlight abnormal tissue and get it all out.
Sometimes good health is just a matter of emptying the trash.

Immunology combined with new imaging techniques are effective across the board including brain cancer to lymph nodes. We no longer need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Advocating for the newest best treatment is the most valuable thing we really can do. Getting that treatment need be our only worthwhile worry.

Truth will out

I AM A BOMBASTIC BITTER BASTARD BIGOT!

I am not that different from an alt right bigot except I do not identify the Jews or Muslims or Blacks or Mexicans or Journalists or Libs or the transmogrified gender variants everywhere in the world as the 'Bad Hombres' and evil enemies.

I identify the 20% of the successful sociopaths and psychopaths with zero empathy as the evil enemy, but even then they may somehow still serve a purpose in sustaining the species. Should we, can we treat Amygdala disorders? How?

What do you do when the wind is blowing drizzle to and fro and it's 6C? Well, it's obvious. Cook a turkey with all the fixin's, of course. Got a 3kg turkey because I asked meat dept. manager to set aside the smallest one he could find during the sale before Easter; spuds; carrots; turnip; dressing (Stove Top Dressing on accounta Mum won't eat anything with onions in it... SNIFF!... I love my dressing of just dry bread, summer savoury, and onions set in the fridge overnight); olives; assorted pickles; Dutch apple pie... Jaysus! I am gaining weight already!

Stop talking about good distilled spirits in front of Mom! She's perfectly content with cheap no-name gin from the ABC store. If you folks' loose talk about single malts and exotic cocktails should give her a hankering for more expensive fare, I'm not helping foot the bill. I'm okay with "Mom's gin bill" being a line item on my monthly budget, but I'll draw the line at "Mom's Laphroaig bill".

See, that's short-sighted. A good single malt produces a much more refined, dry, witty, subtle, nuanced, sense of the ridiculous than mere gin, which tends to produce only raucous, bawdy, coarse and low-toned humor. Mom is capable of class, and flights of the purest fancy, when properly fueled. Saving money on her booze will cut your upfront costs, but at a great cost of lower quality BS throughout the thread! Ya gotta take responsibility for the consequences, man!
