I thought that was a racy volkswagen. Perhaps green.

Or some baritone aria, perhaps verde.

Or a metaphysical theory, perhaps vrai.

Or some thin screen between Self and Eternity, peered through darkly, perhaps verre.

Aye, verrily.

I loved Kharma Mia - especially when she wore the hats full of fruit and danced.

I begin to understand why your karma brought you to Pocatello, Rapaire. Not what one would call a late-model karma.

I suppose I should have mentioned that the guillotine has a normal-sized lunette and that's a lot bigger than your normal-sized cigar. Long ago the Legion began rolling their own cigars, which are the thickness of the average French neck and made from the finest Orofino wrappers and Potosi Gulch leaf. The only person who ever smoked one alone was Stretch-Mouth Missoula, who was named after the town in Montana where her mother gave birth to her during the family's sudden departure after the unexpected death of Henry Plummer. Anyway, the Legion cigars are usually smoked by eight or ten people all at once; it's one of the most disgusting sights you can imagine.

One of the many advantages of Photoshop. Tweaking white balance is one of the simpler ways to make things look better. Of course, with digitial, you can have set the colour bias for the conditions anyway. It's the fate of photographers though. You're never quite happy with your own work.

BTW, did you know that if you change the N dimension setting on your guillotine, you can use it to chop the middle off the cigars instaed. Unfortunatly, the symbols needed to explain the mathematics behind this are not html freindly*, so I will leave it as a mystery as to how it works....

* and only visible by moonlight, when painted on sacrificial virgins

Apart from the county jail, the only lockup in Pocatello is this one, and I'm not allowed in.

I am surprised the warden lets you have a garden, and obviously a very nice one. Well, it is possible you are low-risk -- tractable and takes his pills without fuss...

It's a lousy picture. The photographer used the wrong film; I specified Ektachrome because the blue-green bias is best in my opinion for outdoor work, but he insisted on...anyway, he shan't be needing any film in the future.

By the way, I use pure organic composting for fertilizer.

Speaking of the Legion, have I ever mentioned that after WW1 one of the old codgers who'd fought in France "liberated" a working guillotine from the prison at Pissoir-Sur-Merde? It's kept in the Legion Hovel, of course, and is usually used to cut the ends off of cigars.

Rapaire - nice gartdens but the grass looks like it's dead. And the facade could use a little whitewash -0 but we know you're busy. Maybe you could get the legion in to help.

I have several lots of woodwork to rub down and repaint, two sets of employers to chase, I need to go and buy some food, I have to try and sort out the Scottish entertainment for an Americans wedding over here, a rehersal for our summer festival this evening, a kitchen that needs a proper clean, and some music to find from upstairs here.

And an open university couse.....

Oh, that explains it. Yeah, I have stuff I WANT to read that gets dumped that way too. Meanwhile I continue to get the stuff I don't want to read, such as drug ads, penis enhancements, and other useless stuff....

I have received them. They were routed to the junk box by the spam filter. That's been happening lately; two of my wife's emails ended up there, too.

Nice little place. Penelope Rutledge would feel right at home there if she were to visit, not to mention Veronica.

I try to downplay my botanical and floracultural skills. But just this once...well, here's a picture of my backyard. It was taken during a recent home and garden tour supporting the local home for mendicant brewers.

SFA!

Chongo says he doesn't believe half that stuff. He says you probably sit around sucking your thumb about half the time. I think that's uncharitable of him, but he seems to have developed a bit of a grudge against you lately.

Well, let's see: today I went to work, arranged for the board meeting tomorrow, arranged to take the Book Wagon to one of the Rotary Clubs tomorrow, prepared a few words for the Rotary meeting, facilitated the payment for some autographed books on Bigfoot, had my eyes examined, and went home to sleep off the dilation. Then I made dinner, talked (for the third time) with my wife, who's in DC because her father's been in intensive care for 15 days now (tomorrow he'll probably be moved to a mid-care room), and arranged for Pat and I to have a getaway June 30 to July 4 at Dinosaur National Monument. (I wanted the Little Big Horn, but a big Harley ride is coming through and there are no rooms in the whole danged region, so I'll have to go there later this year.)

Yesterday I desodded a circle in the back yard, spaded it up, put in new topsoil, put down landscape fabric, and planted Delphinium "Aurora Blue", Lupine, Blanket Flower "Fanfare", Shasta Daisy "Snowcap", Coneflower "Yellow Prairie," Sunset Hyssop, Western Columbine, Penstemon "Red Rocks," Jacob's Ladder "Blue Pearl," Coral Bells "Ruby Bells," and Forget-me-nots "Victoria Blue." (These are almost all "water wise" or xeriscape plants.) Out front I put in Red Salvia and multi-colored allysium; I'll put some more allysium out back.

Tomorrow I'll address the Rotary and have a Board meeting -- it will probably be a 10 or 12 hour day. Wednesday I have to go to Blackfoot (20 miles north) to install a software client at our branch there; I think there might be another Rotary meeting, too. Thursday I an all-day budget hearing, and Friday is, for the moment, sort of open. This weekend I'll work around the house cleaning it up and picking it up, work on packing and storing the camping gear -- if I'm very lucky I'll get to go do something like drive out to see the wildflowers in the hills.

Does that answer your question?

Hey, she want to meet my nephew? He's gonna be twenty and is going to be junior at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Sure, he's a geek of the first water, but other than that he's a nice sort of kid, if you like someone like him. I mean, he's not bad looking if you don't mind warts and pimples and a beard that comes out looking like a lawn over which sheep have wandered and he's going to get his teeth fixed, which is supposed to take care of certain odors of decay. And he's not completely bald yet, either. His various itches respond well to the new medications when he remember to take them and his table manners are pretty good now, when he remember them. He doesn't drink much and he uses a spit cup now when he chews.

I can get her up if she's interested. He doesn't have a regular girl, for some reason.
