Friday. Hard-fought through the work week to reach this point, when I have three days off in a row. I work a compressed schedule of four 10-hour days, so I'm a tired wreck by Friday night, but as long as the dogs get fed and the garage door closed, we're fine. And tomorrow is Saturday (too bad we have a heat advisory for the weekend, it means I have to get up at dawn if I want to work in the yard). MOM, wake me up early with a pot of tea so I can go mow the lawn before it feels like 110o.

I have no idea what "autopoet" is. I write my own. I don't have some machine write it for me. Humf! The very idea!

Summa pia gratia nostra conservando corpora et cutodita, de veslingr nos libera, quae nostra vastat, Deus, regna.

I'll beet you to it and say, "Lettuce proceed." I don't turnip my nose at saying such things as this, and if someone leeks it, well, they show good taste. Indeed, it thrills me to the very marrow! I've bean working on some things for a while now and they're about to come to fruition. Yes, I'll be posting some grape stuff! Everyone here says, "Oh, mango gopher it!" But I don't know if I should listen to those who sit around the edge of the room, those walnuts. They'll always carp about something! Onion the other hand, chive don't know...perhaps I should stop for now because this is degenerating into pure corn.

Well, I went to the range and zeroed my .45-70 (.45-70 Government, with 405 grain bullets) so I can start doing long range target shooting. It's not zeroed at even 100 yards (91.44 meters) because it has lots and lots of recoil

Recoil? From a "buffalo gun" firing .45-70 rounds? Who can imagine?

You could get a Thompson/Center Contender with a .45-70 barrel* and experience the same amount of recoil but with the added thrill of potentially knocking yourself unconscious when that recoil slaps you in the forehead with the gun barrel. Wear a crash helmet.

* The Contender is "modular". Barrels are available in umpteen calibers and they all bolt onto the same frame.

Rap should rap. He is not to be outdone. It is apparent I have wandered into his forte'. I warn you sir, stay out of Hilbert space. I will virtually annihilate virtual intrusions. You may hold dominion over the world of words if you leave me the domains of a new geometry, triple entendre, political follies and dersturmderveranderung.

sign here in blood __________.

Well, Bee-Dubya, it isn't the biggest "buffalo gun." There was the .50-90, the .50-100, and even the .50-110. These fifty calibers fired a 600+ grain bullet. I can't afford one, much less the ammunition! But just for you, a real man's gun! Let me know how it works out for you.

Donuel, I haven't signed anything in blood since I did that deal with Ole Skratch in Norway.

MOM. I made progress today, but am not finished with the driveway. Heck with all of these guns and such. I'm interested in weed whackers and lawnmowers. Useful posessions.

Bee-dubya-ell started it! I just reported on what I did on Saturday! It's his fault! Punish him! Ground him! Ground him! And ground Donuel too! There ain't no such word even in German as what he said! He's thinking of "sturm und drang"! Ground him! You have to use words from der echte Welt and not from der Traumwelt with Mom!! Ground him and him!

On a side note, we're off to Seattle in three and a half hours to have folks at the Fred Hutch and SCCA examine and discuss treatments with Pat. But I'll check in, so don't do anything naughty or I'll tell!

Mom, I can't check in again until this evening, so stay as sober as you can can remember that Amos and gnu have the bail money, depending on whether you need it in the US or Canada. Remember, Acme has your passport and you can't leave the country without it -- remember what happened the last time you tried. I think Homeland Security has "shoot to badly wound" order now...no more water balloons!!

All flights are canceled in the southwest. Not us.

Hot air is so thin a heavy plane can not lift off at 117 or higher.

I have reconsidered. Free speech should not be territorial.

Did Rap just plagiarize 'Defending your life'? Clever and soft touch nonetheless.

Why?

Got me. I can't afford what I shoot now, and I sure as hell wouldn't shoot one of those things even if I was paid to do it (well, if they paid enough, maybe). I think some people do something to prove something to someone else. I got over that a long, long time ago. After all, when you're perfect in every way you have to prove nothin' to nobody.

Of course it is! I phrase it that way so that the repetition would reinforce the statement in those who cannot grasp the statement without such reinforcement. You see, redundancy allows repetition, implied or overt, to aid people to better understand that statement. It helps people "make it their own", you see, and keep the thoughts expressed in their mind better than if there was no redundancy. Do you now understand why I phrased it as I did? It was, after all, a rhetorical device to help you and others better understand the truth of the statement.

5AM
Another day another 1.4 million dollars. The to do list for today may be ambitious for some but perfect confidence can perform miracles.

1 Solve opioid epidemic with cheap Fentanyl detectors and fee based nationwide spa withdrawal network. Let the incurable lethally sort themselves.

2 Overhauling government bureaucracy by defunding ,secrecy and no self reporting by agencies.

3 VA improvements by class, hospice and self euthanasia.

4 Chinese diplomacy by withholding interest payments

5Declare Mid East peace and it will come

6 Reform criminal justice with uniform capital sentences.

Perfect, I can make my 2PM T time.

gnu, there was a report -- confirmed -- today that a Canadian sniper in Iraq disrupted a Daesh attack with a shot at 3,450 meters (3,772.9 yards, er over two miles). This is the longest sniper shot ever recorded. It was done by a Canadian, ferchrissake!   Canadians can't shoot that well! Hell, they're all snow blind! Must have been an USian embedded with the Canucks to teach them shooting skills. As IUS general Dan Sedgewick once said, "They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist...."

PS: the target didn't have to be a person -- it was probably a convoy of tanks or something.

Rap... only those confirmed by GPS. The previous record was also by a Canuck, in Afghanistan, by over 4km as per range finder. I was sent the video link by my late Bro years ago (RCAF, Ret.). I watched it. I asked him not to send me any more links to such and here is why. At that time, I could not understand how a sniper that was kilometers away could tell the difference between the 'enemy' and a goat hunter feeding his family. I have other thoughts on being involved in a 'military conflict' over an oil pipeline and opium about 8000 miles from where I type but I'll keep them to myself. I don't care much for goat meat. >;-)

I will, however, comment on the ammo used by three of the four snipers with the longest confirmed kills. Canucks using Hornady. Hornady! I wouldn't used Hornady. Dog damned things will jam faster than shit through a goose in a hunting rifle. In a McMillan Tac-50, fine, but we don't use Tacs ta hunt here on accounta we have gun laws. Besides, half the part of gettin yer moose is guttin and skinnin and butcherin while drinkin ales. With a Tac, ya just pull the trigger and it's all done except fer puttin it in the freezer.

gnu, being in actuality a peaceful sort I wish that that 2+ mile shot had been on a target range. I really do. But as a feat of shooting it stands alone. So, a question: are Canadian snipers trying to outdo each other?

Fifty caliber weapons (except for muzzleloaders) are not hunting weapons. Anyone who shoots at an animal that is at or worse, beyond, the limits of their "usable range" is looking for a miss or a wounded quarry. Showing off belongs on a range, if it belongs anywhere. It never belongs in the hunting field.

Some of these are making the rounds on Facebook today:

The Raven

There once was a girl named Lenore
And a bird and a bust and a door
And a guy with depression
And a whole lot of questions
And the bird always says "Nevermore."

Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening

There once was a horse-riding chap
Who took a trip in a cold snap
He stopped in the snow
But he soon had to go:
He was miles away from a nap

Think of what we could do with this idea.

A moral pome:

The Demon Drink

Oh, thou demon Drink, thou fell destroyer;
Thou curse of society, and its greatest annoyer.
What hast thou done to society, let me think?
I answer thou hast caused the most of ills, thou demon Drink.

Thou causeth the mother to neglect her child,
Also the father to act as he were wild,
So that he neglects his loving wife and family dear,
By spending his earnings foolishly on whisky, rum and beer.

And after spending his earnings foolishly he beats his wife-
The man that promised to protect her during life-
And so the man would if there was no drink in society,
For seldom a man beats his wife in a state of sobriety.

And if he does, perhaps he finds his wife fou',
Then that causes, no doubt, a great hullaballo;
When he finds his wife drunk he begins to frown,
And in a fury of passion he knocks her down.

And in that knock down she fractures her head,
And perhaps the poor wife she is killed dead,
Whereas, if there was no strong drink to be got,
To be killed wouldn't have been the poor wife's lot.

Then the unfortunate husband is arrested and cast into jail,
And sadly his fate he does bewail;
And he curses the hour that ever was born,
And paces his cell up and down very forlorn.

And when the day of his trial draws near,
No doubt for the murdering of his wife he drops a tear,
And he exclaims, "Oh, thou demon Drink, through thee I must die,"
And on the scaffold he warns the people from drink to fly,

Because whenever a father or a mother takes to drink,
Step by step on in crime they do sink,
Until their children loses all affection for them,
And in justice we cannot their children condemn.

The man that gets drunk is little else than a fool,
And is in the habit, no doubt, of advocating for Home Rule;
But the best Home Rule for him, as far as I can understand,
Is the abolition of strong drink from the land.

And the men that get drunk in general wants Home Rule;
But such men, I rather think, should keep their heads cool,
And try and learn more sense, I most earnestly do pray,
And help to get strong drink abolished without delay.

If drink was abolished how many peaceful homes would there be,
Just, for instance in the beautiful town of Dundee;
then this world would be heaven, whereas it's a hell,
An the people would have more peace in it to dwell

Alas! strong drink makes men and women fanatics,
And helps to fill our prisons and lunatics;
And if there was no strong drink such cases wouldn't be,
Which would be a very glad sight for all Christians to see.

O admit, a man may be a very good man,
But in my opinion he cannot be a true Christian
As long as he partakes of strong drink,
The more that he may differently think.

But no matter what he thinks, I say nay,
For by taking it he helps to lead his brother astray,
Whereas, if he didn't drink, he would help to reform society,
And we would soon do away with all inebriety.

Then, for the sake of society and the Church of God,
Let each one try to abolish it at home and abroad;
Then poverty and crime would decrease and be at a stand,
And Christ's Kingdom would soon be established throughout the land.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, pause and think,
And try to abolish the foul fiend, Drink.
Let such doctrine be taught in church and school,
That the abolition of strong drink is the only Home Rule.

A poor bewildered, half-crazed crone
She died, forgotten and alone;
And some there were who stopped to scoff
When the old dame was taken off,
While the busy world went wheeling on
Scarce knowing even she was gone.

Of course she may have done some good,
But then, most any woman could
Who had the muscle and a hatchet,
With Irish wit as keen to match it;
Yet smashing windows so erratic
Soon proved her just a plain fanatic.

A sort of Jezebel crusader,
Like Don Quixote nothing stayed her, -
No wonder people shied eggs at her,
She seemed to like to watch 'em splatter,
And stood like wild things when at bay
So sort of fearless, old and gray.

And then to die so, after all,
Insane and in a hospital,
Good God, suppose she had been sane
And we who had the rotten brain,
I hate to stand on Judgement day
Beside that woman old and gray.

I'd hate to face the those flashing eyes
That scanned a state's hypocrisies
And woke a commonwealth to shame
with crashing axe and words of flame
Until men dare to carry out
The laws they made and lied about.

The four corner pillars of civilization are said to be Facts, Art, Respect and Truth (FART). The weakest of these is truth.

Truth is to be avoided or we fall silent, overwhelmed by the futility and meaninglessness of changing the singular purpose of the real owners of the world. They want MORE. They do not care about you or defenseless civilians. Yes there are token safety nets and rescues of humanity but everything goes back to the selfish greedy owner normalcy in time. The rich do not care about you or trivial mass murder . They care about more for themselves.

They own the lobbyists who write the laws buy the representatives direct the government, turn the playing field into a funnel into their financial stomach and use stupid leaders to do all their bidding.

Government by corporation is fascism and we the people have endured fascist systems by kings, religions and immortal corporations throughout all of written history. The US was a great experiment but it is gone now replaced by the loop hole, the skim, the workarounds and blatant power grabs by the rich owners, who shall not be named.

There were brief exceptions during and after the FDR years but that is over. Watch and remember the next great super disaster that inspires a call to help all the victims. The laws and rich will be helped but not the poor. The owners do not care about them or you. Only the illusion of saving the masses is needed to insure the devotion of ignorant obedient workers to serve the rigged game of the rich. Owners actually like defenseless citizens who believe that the 2nd amendment gives them a running chance. Its laughable. You are just a fly to be swatted.

Its a rich man's world, just enjoy what you can. If you do not believe this just look, you have Trump and Putin as our greedy rich leaders. The owners are not scared, they are pleased, as reflected in the stock market.

This truth was eloquently spoken in the immortal words of Spaw when he would succinctly say,
Fuck them all.

Willard Wattles should be shot, though it would have little real effect since he is, presumably, long dead. He should not be shot for the subject or content of his poem, but for having rhymed "flashing eyes"with "hypocrisies".

As self-appointed president of the Society for the Elimination of Spelling Rhyme, I object! Our motto is "Rhyme is a function of spoken, not written, language!"

"Sleight" does not rhyme with "eight". "Pain" does not rhyme with "again" unless you live someplace where people actually pronounce the latter "uh-gane". "Though" does not rhyme with either "through" or "enough".

Words rhyme when they sound the same, not when they're spelled the same! Understand? Just stop it!
