Bee-Dubya, perhaps a reference to the Dirac Sea will help you to understand.

Hi, Mom! Why is being a fish out of water a cliché, but being a fish in water is not?

It's also in A# and sometimes Cb. But Mom told me that alto MOABites are sometimes a lot of treble and can sometimes be downright bass, she thinks we are all children of note and she rarely has to use her staff on us.

I am a recluse. Recluse... from the latin... I don't care for the general public as most, it would seem, suck. Well, at least 50%. Thank goodness the MOAB is a source of (somewhat) sanity for me to rely upon.

Just an observation. Carry on. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.

Sometimes 'a little' is all you need to improve the scansion.
If you can rhyme data with waiter you can rhyme castle with ass hole without objection.

As for the God-like sense of humor in the cosmic ironic jokes created just for mankind to laugh, Rapier has mastered pin point precision with history and language, but the universes are larger than a pin point. He is a better pseudo intellectual than I will ever be.

...Could you please pass the Civet sauce for the kale and pork rind salad?

As I was sayin, nice poem

Mom says this is not a non-music thread. It's not about music, but it is in the key of B♭.

You must be a member to post in non-music threads.

In the interests of fairness, I should also point out that some of Amos' lines possess weak to nonexistent scansion. However, his grammar is almost always marginally acceptable among the narrow spectrum of those less erudite and less refined than he.

Talk about your half (or slanted) rhymes!

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.

"Temperate" and "date"? C'mon, Bill!

And Emily! For shame:

"Hope" is the thing with feathers ?
That perches in the soul ?
And sings the tune without the words ?
And never stops ? at all ?

Billy, you should know better:

What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

And then there's Amos:

He can't be expected to remember it all
When he's working on cosmic plans, way past us all!
If his thin disguise fails as a keeper of data
A researcher of tomes, whose day job is a waiter,
We still must forgive him, as trees forgive forests
Seeing all the miraculous things he's done for us!

At least he's in good company.

ANd why did Rapaire, in his most trying hour
Fail to notice a chrysalis is hardly a flower?
Was it heat-stroke, exhaustion? Was the weather too muggy?
Or the stress of jetlag that has made him act buggy?
No matter, forget it, it's not such a failing
The Master Creator is too gross for detailing.

At fifty-five thousand and nine-fifty-eight
The burden of glory shines bright on our plate
With fifty-two more posts
(Well, now fifty-one)
The K's will click up! Our good deed will be done!
And none can ignore , as our triumphing shineth
That the quality here is of only the finest.
No scalawag lackwits nor slackers are we
Who paper the halls of the M.O.A.B!
It's only the greatest! Only the best!
The purest, the finest, the best of BS!
So dig in your wit-pit and bring out your jests!
With irony, sarcasm, dryness and zest!
Fail not, as the night turns on toward the day
To advance our Great Mother to her fifty-sixth Kay!

Dr. Rowell M. Arriffer, Poet Laureate
Village of Skinderflintøn, Norway

Braggart! I didn't know you had a "thing" for plants, but as long as they're consenting adults....

But you reminded me that I have iris bulbs to plant. My daffodils are in full cry, as are the grape hyacinths, the forsythia looked and looks like a yellow explosion, and I noticed some tiny red flowers peeking out from under a plant (I think they're frightened by the work going on).

SOmebody burn this to disk for the eventual investigation. Confessions in the halls of MOAB are probably priveleged, though...

We are being lambasted with blooms; spring roses and chrysalis and iris and dozens of others are exploding in chlorophyll and color. The birds perform air-support chorus as they call in the bloom-strikes until our ears ring and our eyes are all bedazzled with the sound and fury of it all.   The shock and awe of Life At Work surpasseth all understanding.

Today men came and tore down part of my deck (the poop part) and ripped the unresisting freezer (turns out there was only one, but with two sections) from the earth in which it has lain lo! these many years. Tomorrow they will come to pour concrete over it all to cover up their deeds.

Me? Did I live for more than a few days in Sandy Ego, California? NO! Everyone knows that only the most rabid, rigid, rightists live there. Some, when the winds begin to shift, move to a somewhat less rigorous place where they can pass for "liberal." Myself, I live in a place where it's unnecessary to bow to the winds of change because here in Idaho it's always 1917, except the trains don't run.

Piffle and pish-tush, Amos. You, of all people, should know that I am the True Fountain of all knowledge and wisdom. I am the Omega Point of which de Chardin wrote, the epitome of McLuhan's Global Village, the ultimate of which humanity is capable, complete in perfection. Shakespeare was writing about me when he wrote, "What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god! the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals!" But do not fret, for I will impart unto you whatever drips of knowledge and wisdom you are capable of understanding.

MOAB is da bomb indeed, but not "a" bomb.

Tonight I played a set to open for tyhe remarkable American song-bird Mr Roy Zommerman. Gracious, funny, and talented as hell, he works the road capturing the hearts and souls of liberals everywhere with his razor-like insight intot he humors and harmonies of the liberal equation in modern times. Purely ferocious. Catch some of his pieces here, for example. It was an honor to contribute to this guy.

According to Guinness:

The world's largest fishcake was made by ASDA and Young's Bluecrest weighing 36.65 kg (80.79 lb) and was displayed at the ASDA supermarket, Grimsby, Lincolnshire, UK on 9 October 2003. The width of the fishcake was 8.7 m (28.54 ft) and the height was 8.7 cm (3.42 in).

England holds the record. Canada isn't even ranked.

I believe I have solved the mystery of gnu's two tablespoon fish cake recipe. Gnu is Canadian, and Canada uses the metric system. So, there are no tablespoons in Canada! TBSP doesn't mean tablespoon. It means tremendously big sumbitchin' patty, which is exactly what fish cakes are supposed to be.

Folks up his way just plunge their head into The Bore, usually when it's flowing ice and bergy bits. Why, he did that one time and turned the Bay of Fundy into steam! It was all written up in the T&T at the time.
