Sorry to change the subject, but MOM wants to know if Amos is taking the kayak out any more these days? Maybe that the new guitar and use it as a paddle?

Between one thing and another and another and another and another , no. I will deign to overlook your blatant heresy, madam, because I am a gentleman. That guitar cost more than the whole kayak and everything in it, and some notions are so deeply blasphemous they should not even be whispered.

Such as the notion that an African-born ape doesn't have the right to run for president of the USA...when he is ably qualified in every way for the job, and loves his country.

...cost more than the whole kayak and everything in it...

That, then, must include Amos.

There is currently an advert displayed herein with a pic of a chimp with a guitar and the caption is, "Anyone can play a guitar."

But can a chimp paddle a kayak with a guitar?

Any chump body can paddle a kayak.

The art is not in the paddling, sirrah, but in the managing of it, especially through surf and swell.

As for Chongo, I disdain to grace his imaginary aspiration with the dignity of a reply.

Those who think they can paddle a kayak also think they are qualified to pilot a steamboat or barge up the Mississippi to Minneapolis. As for launching a kayak in the surf, learn from the Aleuts.

With all that condescension, I am surprised you do not fall off or bang your puir haid on sompn, Rapp. First you say anyone can do it then you say you have to learn from a remote tribe of experts. Please, hire an editor.

I spoke to Peter Stampfel last night on the phone. He is coming by this afternoon and will play into the night. This sounds promising!

I don't think Mom would like you playing all night, or even part of the night, when you should be inside doing your homework. Your arithmetic grades are terrible!

What he should be doing is rewriting his novel to include a talking chimp character who saves the day at the climax.

Once again, Little Hawk and Rapp combine their talents to litter the sacred dusty halls of MOAB with calumny, falsehood, and recalcitrant perversity of spirit. 'T was ever thus, alas.

I have THREE pumpkins to carve this day, and a summer sausage and bread to prepare, and a table of delights to lay out for my guests this evening who will gather with bass, guitar, banjo and mandolin to celebrate the company of said Stampfel. I have no time for the querulous quibbling of quiescent quislings.

I shredded 2 zucchinis an made bread, but forgot to add the vanilla. Damn. It'll still be good, but not as good (I did use butter, which pushes it way up the delicious scale). Too bad you're out there in San Diego, Amos, or you could have some for your get together.

Did you cut up the zucchini before you put them in the shredder or just shove 'em as God made 'em?

You may be familiar with John Adams' fine piece, Short Ride in a Fast Machine, well, this afternoon Rapparee took me on a very nice Long Ride in a Fast, New, Wine-Colored Machine. Thank you, Rapparee, I had a wonderful time!

My new Lamborghini. We reached 220 mph before Eiseley screamed that we should slow down -- something about a hairpin turn and a canyon 200 feet deep or something. Her statement was lost in the screeching of the brakes and the explosion of that pickup truck with the kids in it.

So you two are posting from the beyond? Good trick!

I grated the very large zucchini from a co-worker's garden on a low-tech box grater, same one I use for mozzarella cheese and carrots if I'm grating them.

Nah, we missed the truck but you should have the look on that driver's face! (Probably shouldn't have been hauling blasting powder up to his mine with both caps and kids in the car.)

I am slowly descending from a state of musical atari or ascendance or somerthing. Peter and I spent the morning doing free-form improv in various keys, and laid down some tracks in Garageband to play with, which was a complete gas. He is delightful, and I am heartwarmed to have made his friendship. We had a grand jam until the late hours last night, and good food and company all evening long. I just wish y'all could have come, even Little Hawk, 'cuz we didn't have anyone on the bongos and Chongo would have been a natural.

Splinters nice when you shoot it, too.

We were out buying winter coats to send to a friend of mine in Kentucky. Kids (and parents) there need warm coats in the winter; some have never had a new coat!

Rapp buys winter coats by hunting them down and shooting them. That way he gets to becompassionate and magnaminious while retaining his innermost traits of sanctimony, skinflintedness and raving bloodthirst. Everybody happy!

Well, yeah, that's true, but Walmart has guns and shoots back. Kmart just calls the SWAT team. Fred Meyer calls the bank and has your credit cards cancelled.

Please don't ask me how I know these things.

Twin primes are pairs of primes which differ by two. The first twin primes are {3,5}, {5,7}, {11,13} and {17,19}. It has been conjectured (but never proven) that there are infinitely many twin primes. If the probability of a random integer n and the integer n+2 being prime were statistically independent events, then it would follow from the prime number theorem that there are about n/(log n)2 twin primes less than or equal to n.

Please prove or disprove this conjecture. Thank you.

In geometry, the rhombic triacontahedron is a convex polyhedron with 30 rhombic faces. It is an Archimedean dual solid, or a Catalan solid. It is the polyhedral dual of the icosidodecahedron, and it is a zonohedron.

The North AMerican nauga produces a fine-surfaced hide of exactly the proportions--due primarily to its large and unusually-formed chest cavity and irregular number of legs--needed to precisely cover a rhombic tricontahedron whose central radius is the length from the nauga's left eye to the central apex of its upper ventricle.

This is the sort of natural phenomenon that gives people pause and starts them pondering Intelligent Design.

Amos... precisely my point that the irregular number cannot be even which hoops precisely matched to the even number of sides is false no matter what truth table is attempted to be invoked in proof.

I got an A+ in basic uni philosophy and me engineering math classes but it don't take that to figger odd ain't even. Or, perhaps I simply am odd at even trying to grasp yer postualte?

Minds me of the time me and cousin Jim and me buddy were goin huntin deer... wee hours... on our way in the truck... me an Jim got into a discussion about tau shear on composite carbon fibre aircraft skins and the use of electromagnetic charges to form radar deflection (Jim is one of the foremost engineers in this area in the world... his work has been on the TV... re Iraq, etc). We were in quite the discussion when me buddy piped up and said sommat like, "I am deaf in my right ear so all this shit is going in one ear and getting stuck so let's talk about pussy eh?" Maybe that doesn't apply herein... maybe it does?

You got a cat?

German engineering is cool... Yankee engineering is coolER. And their hats are the topper.
