Narcissistic? Moi? Heavens to Betsy, you defame me! I would no more be self-centered than I'd be a Republican living with the rest of them in San Diego!

I'd file a tort action for defamation, but it's probably too much trouble. Instead I'll just hack Santa Claus' computers and put your name on the 'naughty' list.

Break that into two sentences for better grammar, logic, and comprehension.

We lost a helluva lot of baggage when the 'cat jumped the rails and landed in the snowbank. Until said baggage is recovered, we must carry on, and if it comes back, it comes back.

My god, we've lost so much suffering and botching! What will we ever do without it?

My face is still pretty sore and swollen but it's better, Mom.

It's in the Google cache, I was able to retrieve most of the declutter thread and I'll break it up tomorrow. Anyone want to collect the several hundred posts from the cache and drop them in? It means downloading the WHOLE THING. An overnight job, perhaps.

Wake up, Mom! Yes, I know you're a bit disoriented. Like a hangover after a night out with the Idaho Legion boys, isn't it. "Oh shit! I've lost a few hours before, but not almost two months! What the hell'd those derelict old fuckers put in my drink this time?"

People might be able to get posts like 52222 a SECOND TIME? Or is the Google cash... never mind.

Hi, Mom. DUnno about Google cache, but my life is full of reruns so I am used to them. Wot the hell. My face is still purpply-red, but it is continuing the healingprocess. Ihave to wear big shades to avoid scaring kids.

Hey! We just got tickets for a MARTIN CARTHY concert in San Diego! Who'd a thunk!! April. You guys should be unfrozen by then, right?

Amos, don't worry about scaring kids. Kids scare easily. It's when you start to scare adults that you have a real problem.

I've scared both adults and children. Also several species of animals and even a couple of rocks.

Turns out that the MOAB is so long and has been here for such a duration that Google doesn't see a few hundred missing posts as anything worth showing in the cache. It says the thread is available online, and that's that.

Do I get another birthday? Am I younger now?

Amos, you scare the...wits...out of me just thinking about you, which I try not to do because if I did I'd be living in a continual adrenaline rush greater than that I used to get HANO skydiving without rubber soles and heels on my shoes.

High altitude, No Opening. A specialty of Rapp's.

The scars are diminishing, and that's a good thing, but they itch something turrible.

Stitches come out on Thursday. Then we will see if I end up as Smiling Jack or Scarface...

As you can see my attention has been preempted.

Does it occur to anyone how healthy it would be if an act of Congress were passed requiring that any bill submitted be solely about one issue or decision, with no riders dragging in irrelevant issues from sme other area? THe National Relevancy Act would immediately undo 75% of the tapdancing around who gets what to say about what and to whom.

Meanwhile, a snippet from up north...

"NDP MP Peter Stoffer wants to put an end to what he calls "headline politics" and limit the government's use of omnibus bills, massive pieces of legislation that wrap up many disparate measures into one long bill.

At a press conference Thursday, Stoffer said omnibus bills prevent members of Parliament and senators from doing their jobs and properly representing the views of their constituents and Canadian taxpayers.

"It shames me to tell my constituents that the money I receive, the pension I get in the future is in many cases under false pretenses because I am not able to do the job that I'm paid to do."

Stoffer has drafted a private member's bill, titled Stop the Bus, would seek to amend the Parliament of Canada Act so governments are barred from packaging unrelated material in omnibus bills.

"Omnibus bills receive very little scrutiny. It's unconscionable that it continues in a democracy," he told CBC News in an interview Wednesday.

"You can't bring in a bill about farming and tack on something about foreign affairs," he said.

The Conservatives have used omnibus bills to change everything from pension contribution rates to the Environmental Assessment Act to refugee health care."

They'll tack a tax increase, except for the wealthy, onto that. Another will allow tax deductions for anyone in the Maritimes who paints the bow of their ship, boat, raft, canoe (over 16 feet), kayak, log, or other water-borne vehicle blue. Still another will permit up to forty (40) other amendments to be added to any bill regardless of the subject matter of the amendments and the original subject of the bill.

Habeas Corpus will be "repealed" and one may be arrested by other than police forces, among other things. The True North Strong and Fucked Over.

Apple Launches New Product

After succesful introductions of the iMac, iPhone, iPod, iPad and assorted and sundry other "i" products, Apple Inc. has announced the impending launch of the iDon't Need This. Apple's target market for this new product is the hopelessly addicted Apple consumer who cannot successfully relate to any product which doesn't have the Apple logo on it. The iDon't Need This does absolutely nothing, but it does so in a way that the snappy little Apple logo is always on prominent display.

Don't you just love Symantec? That's why I bailed on them a long time ago.

I am averse to apple products, they're too twee. I've set a bunch of old cables and chargers into the bag I'll drop in the e-waste bin at work. My office is looking better all of the time. I have lots of devices I can't live without, but I have even more bits and bobs left over from devices that I'll never use again. The days of the dedicated charger are long gone, so the chargers need to go as well.

There's a simple reason for long-term Mac use. It works better. We use the computer for other things, rather than as an occupation in itself.

This is less true than it once was, but it is still the general rule. UNIX based systems such as OS X work better than (shudder) Windoze.

You guys can come over here and help reset the tire sensors on my little car. One per tire. It blinks or honks to let you know it worked or where to go next. Pain in the ass to have to run from corner to corner and add or let out air, only two minutes per tire or you have to start over again.

A light goes on on my dash. This means some tire is underinflated. Then I check the tires and fix the problem or, more likely, it's time to take the car in for service and I let them do it.

Mom, I got bad news yesterday at my annual checkup. I have a hernia on each side and have to have surgery...again...the third time in a year. I see the surgeon tomorrow for a pre-surgery visit and may know more after than, maybe. But you know, Mom, that anesthesia is coooooooool.

Sad to hear that, Rap. Good lock with the surgery(s).

That light on the dashboard? Fuck it. Mine came on 4 days after the warranty expired and it's a "Tire pressure sensor fault"! It's still on. My tires are fine. Ford is fucked up. Here is the kicker! A tire pressure sensor fault is nasty because they have to take EACH tire off to check EACH sensor. Fact is, they are gonna take em all off (maybe?) and charge for doing it even if the first one is the bum one. Fuck em. I have had a tire pressure gauge in my glove box since I was 14 and IT works. So does my eyesight and I look at the tires at least every few days. I mean, just look at them when you are walking toward the weehicle. It ain't rocket science.

No, it's not. But it is related. 4 tires x 38 psi each = 152 psi, or 10.6 kgf/cm2. So if all four tires blew at the same time your vehicle would be lifted up. Not very high, but up (assuming the tires blew out when the blow-out spot on each was down). Overinflate your tires enough and you could put your vehicle into orbit.
