Your sesquipedalian tirades, Amos, are evidence of a mind careening uncontrolled through a labyrinth of quasi-intellectual sludgewallow that resembles nothing more than the entrails of a goat scattered randomly upon a verdant sward.

LOOK!

MOM's laughing and heading across the lawn to drop a bushel basket over the top of Rapaire and Eiseley.

You brace of clinchpoops with your Grimgribber punctiuncles! I am hard put to say which of you is the polyphloisboiotatotic amongst the pigwidgeons.

A pair of skeezicks seized by extremes of polemomania in an endless histrionic quest for satisdiction which is nver forthcoming. It is for fie, I swan.

I think that's a lot of hooey-wooey. (Used in a sentence by me, 2010.)

Earlier, Johnny Dunne gave the inspiration to Billy Blake:

No man is an candle, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the wick, a part of the wax. If a wick be burnt out by silly usage, the world is the darker, as well as if a searchlight were, as well as if a ligthouse of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's taper diminishes my light, because I am brighter than everybody else; and therefore must go about blowing out candles and tapers and dashing buckets of water upon fires so that my light will shine the brighter. Never send to know for whom the light went out; it was quenched for me.

Today's word, in association with the commanding Oxford English Dictionary, is

mifky-pifky (n.)

Sexual activity, flirting (esp. of an illicit nature).

Used in a sentence in 1985 by J. Margolis:

"There's all this mifky-pifky going on, but not for me, and I'm envious."

That's right, along with his other inspiring poem that begins:

Taper, taper, burning bright
In the hallways of the night . . .

It was another distinguished poet who inspired him in that work, with

Little lamp, who made thee?
Little lamp, who made thee?

Ah, Rap, it is good to hear his virtues being extolled; but I fear me you may have misheard his words, or left your dictionary at home.

Reminds me of the old ditty used to sell a poets books:

No one says "lovin'"
Like someone from Llangollen
And Dylan Thomas
Says it best.

I agree with Dylan Thomas about changing the color of the lampshades. It really makes me angry.

As DT wrote, "Rage, rage, against the dyeing of the light."

But see, his Brilliantness drank himself to death. How cool was that? Not very.

Dylan Thomas drank way too much, but there is speculation that it was some kind of mis-matched drug cocktail between what he was taking and what his doctors gave him that killed him. Here is a site called "Neurotic Poets" that offers one version.

I didn't realize John Berryman was with him.

I have communed with with my gramps and other forefathers as well as seeking the sage advice of some of my still living Native Peoples brothers (well, I saw Jim One Feather and his bro at the beer store yesterday) regarding the sudden onset of fall.

I had predicted the last four years of seasonal weather here almost to a tee and I also predicted, three months ago, an early, but long and dry fall this year with early snowfall but moderate snow until close to the winter equalknocks. Then, Mom Nature is gonna knock us good here in The Merrytimes with a rather nasty winter.

Or not. Depends eh?

As for the glow at dusk, it is dusk now and I only have a slight glow on. But, there is a beautiful reddish pink glow to the west as the sun illuminates the undeside of the cloud cover... or maybe that's a reflection off of A and/or Rap.

Never fear, a side by side comparison is almost guaranteed to show Idaho up--depending on whoich way one holds the map.

As long as San Diego has better weather than Idaho in January, it can snow in autumn if it wants to.

Sept. 22, 2010: For the first time in almost 20 years, northern autumn is beginning on the night of a full Moon. The coincidence sets the stage for a "Super Harvest Moon" and a must-see sky show to mark the change of seasons.

The action begins at sunset on Sept 22nd, the last day of northern summer. As the sun sinks in the west, bringing the season to a close, the full Harvest Moon will rise in the east, heralding the start of fall. The two sources of light will mix together to create a kind of 360-degree, summer-autumn twilight glow that is only seen on rare occasions.

But Rapaire, those are ALL rationalizations and justifications. They'll just make it harder and harder for you to get off the Wheel, man!

She's the author of such classics as "What Was I Thinking", "Harrison Ford", and "The Kind of Love You Never Recover From".

I have never heard sing Dylan, and she's a white-haired lady, who does not look Latina.

Is she the one who sings Bob Dylan songs to a Latin beat?

(In passing: I saw a sign for a casino in Montana advertising that Ozzy Osbourne and Bob Dylan would be appearing there. The picture was of Mary Travers.)

In a fit of recrudescent syn I have signed up to go hear none other than Christine Lavin sing Friday night. I have loved her stuff for years.

I sometimes suffer from premature procrastination, and go around postponing things sooner than I should. My closest friends all forgive me, though.

Well, your workshop is already a smashing success having inspired me to coin the deathless phrase "Recrudescent prepubescence". It should go down in history (and most other subjects) on the merit of that fact alone.

Excuse me, that should be "The Great Scots WAR pipes".

Besides, when your vocal range is four octaves and your musical pitch is absolutely perfect (as mine is), it's impossible to sing off key. You can sing in a range only heard by dogs, true, but you're on key.

You shall, of course, come to the workshop Severn and I are doing? Should you not, I will be forced to crash yours and sing way off key.

Well, of course, you would be no such thing--your dire consequence is entirely elective and voluntary on your part, and couching it in these terms is merely small-minded manipulation (or at least your best effort at it). But in spite of the hazards to which it means exposing myself I shall drop by your workshop on Recrudescent Prepubescence in Musical Expression and see if I can muster up some applause.

Ah, let's just say that these baskets were a LOT less expensive than the locally made items. I saw a beautiful bolo tie on the trip -- silver and turquoise, of course -- and thought I'd check the price. $768.00 US. I didn't get it, but I did get a silver belt buckle with a rattlesnake on it to commemorate my recent participation in the snake-throwing event.

You, having been trained on the field of Honor, do not know how to do battle on the Field of Offer, which is the nearest thing we've got down there.
